The Skipper insists a stone found by Gilligan will grant the finder three wishes before sundown.

    "Great"
We get a great view of the contrast between the Skipper's personality and the Professor's personality. Skipper is totally superstitious, believing in hoodoo, voodoo, charms, and chants. The professor is the ultimate, 'there is a scientific explanation for it' kind of guy. At the end, he softens a little and accepts that maybe there is something to it after Gilligan's three wishes come true. He runs out after the others to find the stone. Why wouldn't Gilligan throw it back out to be found again? Is a little shiny rock really more important than being rescued? It's a wonder they ever got off the island.moreless
