Before Mrs. Kim comes to invite Lane to Lunar new year, Brian tells Zach that his E string is flat. Mrs. Kim also informs Zach that his E-string is flat. Zach has a regular 6-string guitar, if he uses standard tuning, there are two E stings. Usually differentiated by saying high E or low E. So which E string is flat?
In this episode, Lane's Korean replacement asks for a Monte Cristo sandwich, but in a previous season, when Luke gets new menus, it's said that he took off that sandwich.
At the end of this episode, when Emily shows up at Christopher's apartment to warn him that if he wants a chance with Lorelai he'd better act fast, she lists some of the reasons she does not think Luke is a suitable match for Lorelai. One of these reasons is that Luke is divorced. However, Christopher is also divorced. In "The Great Stink" it is specifically mentioned that Christopher and Sherry were married and divorced.
After hitting Emily's car, Richard and her argue about her date with Simon. He reminds her that his lunches with Pennilyn Lott meant nothing but Emily made quite a fuss about them. He implied that it was the reason for their separation . However, Pennilyn Lott is not the reason they separated. They separated because he insisted on ruining Jason's career. Emily was afraid that it would alienate Lorelai again and they would never see her or Rory again.
When Rory and Logan hang out in the bar for the second time, Logan gives Rory back her notes that he used for his story. He only gave her about 1/4 of the notes she gave him the first time they met.
In this episode, Richard says that he and Emily will be renewing their vows on their 40th wedding anniversary. In "Red Light on the Wedding Night" Emily says that they have been married for 34 years. All the seasons are only a year. There is no way that it could have been 6 years between the beginning of season 2 and mid season 5.
In the final scene, when Emily shows up at Christopher's apartment and advises him to make his move with Lorelai before it's too late, she looks at his 2-year-old daughter Gigi and refers to her as "this." This is the first time that Emily has ever said something quite that horrendous, and it brings out a side of her that is more extreme than ever before. This is also the first time she has ever been nasty to Christopher. In all previous contact and mentionings,Emily has always spoken to and of Christopher with fondness. Her referring to Gigi as "this" does however, emphasize her point that Chris has always been weak since he makes no effort to correct Emily for speaking about his daughter that way.
When Lane and Kyon are talking at Luke's, you can see a semi-loose strand of hair on the left side of Lane's head. When she walks over to the boys, she doesn't touch her hair, but in the next shot her pony tail is perfect.
When Lane is talking to the Korean exchange student at Luke's diner, you can see the exchange student holding a purse. Between shots the purse opens and closes.
When Richard hits Emily's car, you can see him walk from off screen towards her car, rather than coming from the door of his own car.
Luke says that the reason he bought a TV for the bedroom was so that Lorelai didn't have to go to bed at 9:30. When she switches on the TV you can hear Jon Stewart in the background, but The Daily Show with Jon Stewart isn't on until 11.
Explanation: Luke bought the TV for those nights he has to go to bed early, but it was never mentioned that it was one of those specific nights that happened twice a week. On that day, they could have been up past 11.
When Lane is talking to Zack, two sauce bottles (red and yellow) appear on the middle table.
When Lorelai is talking to Luke about how to fix the oven, the 'Luke's' label on her coffee keeps moving.
Rory: (watching Emily and Richard from outside) It's Grandma and Grandpa!
Lorelai: Together? Are they fighting?
Rory: They don't look mad. (pause) Grandpa just picked up an ashtray!
Lorelai: Maybe he's gonna throw it at her!
Rory: No, he's just moving it. Grandma just laughed!
Lorelai: An evil laugh, an I'm-lauhing-at-your-pain laugh?
Rory: No, a regular laugh. (Emily and Richard hug and kiss) Oh my God!
Lorelai: Oh my God! My parents are having an affair!
Emily: All right. I'll come straight to the point, Christopher. Now, I have known you a long time. I watched you grow up. You were a charming boy. A
weak, but charming boy. And to be completely honest, I never thought much of you. I still don't.
Christopher: Wow. That's great of you to come by and share that with me.
Sookie: Michel is too anal for his own good.
Lorelai: Listen. My parents are very weird people. They don't hate you. They just don't know you. This is the perfect opportunity. They'll be happy. They'll be smashed. You show up, shake some hands, get in a few family pictures, and before you know it my mother will be trying to convince you you're too good for me. Come on, it'll be fun. Good food. Open bar. I'm wearing a fabulous dress and as maid of honor, if you're not there, I'll have to get drunk and make out with the best man. Who is Rory. So you can see all the creepy ramifications of your absence here.
Lorelai: Hey, Lane.
Lane: Hi, Lorelai.
Lorelai: Hmm. You look different.
Lane: I do?
Lorelai: Yeah, you look cute. I mean, you always look cute, but this is just a new facet of your cuteness.
Lane: Thanks. You look cute too.
Lorelai: I have a boyfriend, so maybe this flirting thing we've got going on should just end here.
Lorelai: You know what ruins your REM sleep, is those articles about REM sleep. And you know what could help you forget those articles about REM sleep?
Richard: I really don't want to go back to the poolhouse.
Emily: Come home.
Emily: My daughter's stubborn, but she's capable of greatness.
Lorelai: I love it when I talk and no one listens. It makes me feel at home.
Jackson: Okay son, I think it's time to get you laid.
Lorelai: That's nice. Bye boys.
Lorelai: Aw, you didn't like your manicotti?
Luke: That was not manicotti. It was square, and flat, and blue.
Lorelai: Yeah, manicotti's rarely blue.
Logan: Oh here, I almost forgot, your notes.
Rory: Oh, I hope they helped.
Logan: They did. Some guy tried to mug me earlier and I beat him to death with them.
Lorelai: Or, Mel Brooks is on and he is so funny, and you think, 'What a wonderful world we live in that there's a Mel Brooks to go to sleep to.'
Luke: Mel Brooks is never on Charlie Rose, and when he is on he's talking about Nazi's and then you go to sleep and you dream about Nazi's and they all look like Nathan Lane and you're creeped out for days.
Michel: Hey, I just asked Lars if he was seeing anyone special. He misunderstood and he might be filing one of those sexual harassment charges against me.
Michel: And you, because I said you made me.
Doyle: Gilmore, I am loving you at this moment.
Paris: Moment's over.
Doyle: Moment's over. Thanks.
(After playing oriental music)
Gil: Yeah! Awesome! You guys rock!
Lorelai: (to Luke) You have to come to the wedding or else I'll get drunk and wind up making out with the best man and the best man is Rory!
Sookie: I'm the most horrible, evil person in the entire world
Lorelai: Well, my mother will be sad to hear she's been dethroned.

Luke: Hey, twice a week you're going to bed at 9:30 like a 72-year-old woman because I have early deliveries, so I figured the least I could do is make sure you don't miss your Charlie Rose or your Patrick Stewart –
Lorelai: Jon Stewart.
Jon Stewart is a comedian, know for hosting his own talk show "The Daily Show". Patrick Steward is a British actor mostly know for portraying the role of Cpt. Jean-Luc Picard on a television series "Star Trek". Strangly, PS was once a host of SNL, and JS was about to be (had to back out). Also, a funny comment, in the episode "A Family Matter"(4x12) Lorelai told Jason that she feels uncomfortable dating a trekkie.
Luke: Mel Brooks is never on Charlie Rose, and when he is on he's talking about Nazis, and then you go to sleep and you dream about Nazis and they all look like Nathan Lane, and you're creeped out for days.
Luke is referring to The Producers, the Broadway hit produced by Mel Brooks. Nathan Lane plays Max Bialystock, who in the show buys a horrible play with his partner to make money. The play is about Hitler and the Nazi Party.
Lorelai: The toothpaste world. Is that anything like Whoville?
Reference to the Dr. Seuss books Horton Hears a Who and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Lane: My Sam Ash catalogs!
Sam Ash is a big retailer of musical instruments, amps, etc.
Sookie: I wonder what kind of ghost we have?
Lorelai: Maybe a Confederate soldier.
Sookie: Or a lonely spinster that never married.
Lorelai: Or Patrick Swayze.
Patrick Swayze played the ghost in Ghost (1990).
Lorelai: Say goodnight, Gracie.
As mentioned in the episode of the same title, this is a reference to the Burns and Allen Show where George Burns would turn to his wife, Gracie Allen, and tell her to "say goodnight, Gracie."
