  • Luke's uncle dies, and Lorelai helps and supports Luke through the arrangements

    9.2
    "Superb"
    This episode shows how much Lorelai cares for Luke. Luke's uncle, Louis, dies. Luke asks Lorelai to reserve nine rooms at the inn for his family coming for the funeral. This she gladly does. Michel tries to stick his nose in but Lorelai tells him it's personal. Then Lorelai (with Rory) helps out at the diner, getting seriously into "diner talk." She meets Luke at the funeral home, where he has a hard time closing the casket of his uncle because of all the "memorabilia" Louis wanted to be buried with. Then she stands with him at the graveside service. It turns out that Luke and Lorelai are the only two people there. Earlier, Luke tried to the get the Revolutionary War "re-enactors" to come to the graveside service, but they didn't want to because Louis was so mean. In the end they do come though.

    Also, Rory is on Jess's case for not helping Luke at the diner during his time of distress. She gets him to help.

    Meanwhile, Sookie gets caught up in "Emilyland" as she lets Emily help plan her wedding. Jackson, in a panic, goes to Lorelai for help, and Lorelai talks Sookie out of giant mushrooms and midgets, among other things. Emily points out to Lorelai how attached she is to Luke.
  • Luke's uncle dies and he must plan the funeral. Good episode.

    "Superb"
    I liked this. It was good to have an episode that was very Luke focused. To be honest not a great deal happened here, more of a filler type episode but it had its moments. Like the wedding planning, I guess this was needed for the story. Jess and Rory seem to connect yet again, but I would have liked a bit more of this.

    Sookie and Emily planning her wedding was good. Kind of annoying though, seeing Sookie follow what Emily. At least there wasn't an argument over it. The mushroom paper things and measuring the town, very funny. I'm glad Sookie came to her senses and decided on the small wedding she and Jackson had planned.

    I thought it was great with Lorelai in the diner, shouting the diner orders, amusing. The coffin thing was to, Luke's outbursts are always entertaining. Rory making Jess do things was another entertaining part. The thing with Taylor was alright, fairly entertaining.

    Nice at the end to see the town come together for Luke's dead uncle. We did get some more Luke/Lorelai moments and Emily once again points out about there feelings for each other. Good episode.
  • Louie's Funeral

    9.6
    "Superb"
    Luke's uncle Louie dies and Luke is trying to make the arangements to the funeral. Lorelai offers to help him in anything he needs.

    Sookie is starting organizing her wedding and Emily offers to give her some contacts, it soon turns into Emily's idea of a wedding. Even Jackson is sad..

    With all the arrangements, Luke can't work in the diner so Lorelai takes over and creats some diner talk.

    When Luke needs something, Lorelai goes to help, good friends.

    Luke invites everyone to the funeral but no one is coming, the didn't like Louie...

    The only persons at the funeral are Lorelai and Luke.

    Emily is seeing the future for Lorelai and Luke, she knows he fells something for Lorelai and she for him, something more than friendship.

    Oh and Rory puts Jess to work!

    Lets see the next one
  • The Lorelai and Luke scenes were very good to watch but Rory was seriously lacking int oday's episode.

    Rory constantly asking Jess to do this and that didn't seem normal especially considering her behaviour towards him in the last episode. It's also very weird that in about the space of a week Rory is working at Luke's with Jess and Dean doesn't stop by once and get angry or anything.

    Lorelai and Luke were very cute and so obviously will get together eventually but Lorelai needs to get with the programme already.

    Sookie and Jackson were also pointless why would Sookie fall for Emily's ideas and if she did how did she so suddely realise she was being stupid just cos Lorelai said Jackson was worried.

    i thought that this episode was sad and happy at the same time. i thought that the episode had a happy feeling to it because of the fact that sookie was planning her wedding or until emily decided to stick her nose into sookies business and decide she would help plan sookie a weird wedding with midgets dancing under giant mushrooms. i thought that emily was being nice but it was not what sookie or jackson wanted. i thought that the plan that emily had for lorelai's wedding was really good i thought that it would work for her because of the fact that lorelai loves the snow and how emily had it planned it would have been in the winter so there would have been some snow. i felt really bad for luke the fact that his uncle died was really sad and i do not care that he was a jerk when someone dies it is always sad. it was really sad that no one would go to the funeral because they did not like lukes uncle and seeing the town be reacting a war and the end of the funeral was really nice and i liked that the town threw a wake type thing at the end of the episode.

  • I loved this episode and I think its one of many special episodes, but this one was a little x-tra special.

    I watched this episode today for the first time and I really liked it - this is one of the great Lorelai/Luke moments where we get a glimpse of how things should be between these two. Lorelai was great helping Luke deal with his uncle's funeral and together she and Rory really dig their heels in without question to help Luke with the customers and I just love the scene where Rory marches upstairs drags Jess all the way down and puts him to work!!

    I really felt sad for Luke when none of his family members planned to show up, and then of course the town re-enactors let him down too but one person didn't and that was Lorelai. I loved that she was there for Luke when he needed it and it was really touching to see them together looking down at the grave and then all the renactors showed up and Lorelai teared up, she held Luke's arm, and she was happy for Luke and so was I and of course it was great that they had a wake with everyone from town present it was really nice.

    Oh great moment the whole veggie fight between Taylor and the Troubadour, that was just hilarious and the taunting of Taylor at the town meeting was priceless, and then of course when he finds out that he freaked out over nothing since the Troubadour was only planning a short visit was absolutely priceless this was a great Taylor moment!!

  • I feel the need to write this review as there are none yet (to date 2-7-06). Great episode- definitely a series classic! And what a great title. Luke, Kirk, Taylor, Jess... they're all perfect! You can't NOT love this episode... you just can't...

    I haven't see this episode in a while, so let's see what I remember.

    ~~~
    Part 1 of the title: "Dead Uncles".
    Luke's Uncle Louis (if he's French) or Louie died, and Luke needs to plan his funeral and figure out a way to bury him. Lorelai learns why tetherball is called tetherball (because the ball is "tethered" to the pole), and helps Luke out. She helps to fill in at the diner as a waitress, and helps to figure out how to bury a man with way too many baseball cards jammed in to be buried with him. No one turns up at the poor man's funeral after the town confronts Luke and tells him that nobody liked Louis/Louie. But as Rory is trying to get Jess to help out Luke the entire episode, Jess finally comes around and throws his Great Uncle a successful wake. And there's a memorable Kirk moment dealing with the dead guy's mean-ness and poor trick-o-treating Kirk...
    Part 2 of the title: "and Vegetables".
    Taylor finds out the hard way that he has competition (as far as produce A.K.A. VEGETABLES and fruit are concerned). One of his customers tells him that she'll just try across the street since Taylor's produce isn't up to standard. Turns out that guy who was competing to be town troubador a few episodes ago now has an amazing produce stand. Because it can't literally "roll" away at night, Taylor disqualifies it for being in the town. But the vegetables get used up by the end of the episode, and Taylor was stressing out over nothing.
    ~~~

    All in all, great episode! One of my favorites! Top 10 for sure!
