Rory receives an invitation to Sherry's c-section celebration, but the party is pushed forward when the expectant mother goes into labor before the scheduled date of arrival. One of Sherry's friends informs Rory that the baby is on its way, and Rory heads to the Boston hospital only to find she's the only one there. (Other than Sherry, of course.) Christopher is out of town and all of Sherry's friends are too busy with work to fit her labor into their schedule.

Sherry is too busy to fit labor into her schedule. She soon puts Rory to work on the phone rescheduling appointments and faxing documents. When a nurse suggests that Rory prepare to go into the delivery room with Sherry, Rory calls Lorelai to rescue her.

Luckily, neither of the girls has to join Sherry for the moment of truth because Christopher arrives just in time to do the honors himself. All the talk of new babies sends Lorelai reminiscing about her own pregnancy and Rory's arrival, and gets her thinking about her own mother.

Meanwhile, Luke has a date with Taylor's lawyer that seems to go quite well -- so well he's willing to temporarily suspend his "no cell phone" rule at the diner.
