  • Excellent episode. The flashbacks were brilliant, revealing and very well done.

This was an excellent episode. It was just so interesting to see the flashbacks to Lorelai at sixteen. I'll first say what a could job they did with the one who played young Lorelai, she was brilliant, she had Lorelai's great humour, it made the whole thing believable and even more enjoyable.

I just felt so satisfied actually seeing what we've heard about for two and a half seasons.

I liked how it worked as well, it linked with Sherry's birth. How she felt, how Lorelai felt. I found Sherry's birth amusing at first, because all her friends had to work and that woman kept saying she screwed up. Sherry's happiness at Rory being there would obviously be overwhelming.

Also nice to see Emily and Lorelai having a night alone, Lorelai's concern about what her mother does at night was revealing. Emily was funny in the flashbacks too, how she reacted about the birth but it still showed she cared, she wouldn't let Chris's parents say anything bad about Lorelai. I liked that too, young Lorelai and Chris sitting on the stairs, listening to there parents panic.

It was hard for Lorelai, that came across well, was done well basically. It was nice how she helped Sherry through the birth. Then Chris arrives and it gets worse, they look at the new baby and she remembers the same thing happened sixteen years ago. Then the end when Emily finds the note from young Lorelai, her devastation was done well.

Other things were great too, like Dean and Jess's confrontation at the start, very interesting, things are heating up. Plus the retirement party was funny at the beginning. I liked how Jess was interested in Luke's date which turns out being good. Paris continues to argue with Rory, a bit harsh if you ask me.

So I loved the flashbacks and everything else in this episode, ten out of ten from me!
  • great episode, one of my favorites

This one was great!! I really loved it!

Lets see, Lorelai and Rory are planing a backpack trip to Europe and they bought some books, Emily sends some old ones from Richard and that's where it begins...

We can see bits of Lorelai's life before she got pregnant, the plans she made with Chris...

This is a real flashback episode!

Different hair styles, clothes, the same humor...

Sherry schedules her C-section and invited Rory but the baby wants to come out, a week earlier! A friend of hers calls Rory and she goes to the hospital.

This episode shows two situations, Lorelai's pregnancy and Sherry's.

Rory gets there and is the only one, they other ones are working and Chris is out of town. Later she calls Lorelai for help, they both stay with Sherry. At the time Chris shows up and goes in.

It was so different! Lorelai felt Rory and went to the hospital alone, her parents showed up when she was going in and no one stayed with her.

Sherry had company, Chris got in with her and loved it.

I felt sorry for Lorelai, her look when she heard Chris talking about the birth...

The way Lorelai told her parents about going to the hospital...She used the same way when told them she has gone, that note...

This episode helped me to see Lorelai's life, a normal 16 years old life before pregnancy, her plans and everything fell apart.

    I really loved it.

Oh and Emily gets a DVD player!! lol
  • So great!!

This is probably my favorite episode of Gilmore Girls ever. I love the flashbacks of Lorelai and Chris as teens! It was just so cute! I must also add that it was great to see that Lorelai has, in fact, always been that sarcastic and witty. I can't say I'm a big fan of Christopher (at least at that point in the series), but I really liked him in this episode. At least when he saw his daughter (Gigi) for the first time. It was adorable. And the baby was so cute!!

The only part of this series I liked more was the scene about the anvils ;)
  • Sherry goes into labor a week before she expected and Rory is the only one who could be there with her because Chris is on the road. Lorelai comes to the hospitol to help Rory and Lorelai reminisces about the birth of Rory

I loved this episode because it shows how Lorelai felt about being pregnant with Rory and how she was basically all alone through the whole thing. Her parents were not very supportive of the whole thing and Chris wasn't really there for her either. While watching Lorelai in the hospitol with Sherry I couldn't help but feel bad for Lorelai because here she was, comforting Rory's dad's wife, a woman she doesn't even know, when no one was there to comfort her. I also thought that Sherry working and panicing about the baby coming a week early was very humorous. All in all, I really loved this episode.
  • Grea episode!

This is a very, very great episode!!! It was a great flashback and told us an enourmous amount about Lorelai when she was 16. Lorelai has a whole bunch of flashbacks in this episode because she goes to save Rory since she is the only person who went to help Sherry when she was in labor. When Lorelai went there, there were a lot of funny parts in the episode with Sherry. Especially when Sherry is trying to make the baby come out faster! But when Lorelai sees different things, she has flashbacks of when she was younger and pregnant with Rory. It was a great episode, and told a lot!
  • This Episode Revealing Because it told us more About Lorelai Having Rory.

This is One of My Favorite Episodes of Gilmore Girls. I Liked the Flashbacks of Lorelai's Pregnancy the flashbacks are All About Lorelai getting Pregnant , Finding out she is Pregnant and her going into Labor , Lorelai and Rory Planning their Trip to Europe too and The Only Reason They are Having the Flashbacks are because in this Episode Sherry (aka Chris' Girlfriend) is Having her baby.
  • Fabulous. Too cool fool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed this episode. I just got through watching it and entertainment glore. My favorite parts were the flashbacks to the past. The flashbacks included events leading up to Lorelai having Rory and leaving home. My guess is since Sherry was having her baby, the creators thought it would be great to have Lorelai flashbacks of having her baby. This episode is unique in a way. Because normally when you see shows have flashbacks, it's about the person going through something. In this episode, Lorelai did have certain looks that were questionable maybe looks of jelousy that Chris is there for Sherry but wasn't for her. They both experiences are diffrent yet the same. They both get a baby, but one has something the other doesn't.
  • Dear Emily and Richard is a great epesode.

Dear Emily and Richard is a great epesode full of flashbacks. In this epesode Sharie has her baby and their and flashback of Lorelai and Chris (conception, finding out there pregnant, having the baby, ect.) The transitions to and from flashback are really good and the epesode is really well made. It really gives you a feeling of what Lorelai wen though. I love the name (Dear Emily and Richard). It is called this because of the letter Lorelai right to her parents whe she is in labor and when she is leaving with one year old Rory. I love this epesode and is one of my season three favorites.
  • One of the best episodes ever. Simply amazing.

Great writing, excellent portrayals and a smart way to combine the birth of Gigi with a bigger connection to the characters and the mythology of the series. We get to see what really happened, how everyone reacted to the life altering changes and how they ended up being the people that they are now, the people we love (yes especially Emily).

An emotional episode, that allowed us to travel back, to see Rory\'s birth, Emily\'s hairstyle and Lorelai\'s uniqueness throughout the years. Its nice to see that some things, despite the hurdles that may occur, never change.

One of the best hours on tv, ever. A lot can be said about this episode, but I think that the episode itself says it all.

  • This is my favourite episode form season three. This episode proofs, that the basic idea of the story works. I love this episode.

The Terms of Service obligate me to inform you that this here contains spoilers!

So Sherry is getting her baby in this episode. So this is the perfect moment for flashbacks into Lorelai’s past, we see her pregnancy and everything around it.

So let’s start at the beginning. Lorelai encourages Rory to visit her new half sister, when she gets invited to the birthday. This is actually very sweet and honest of Lorelai, because everything seams ok, since she finally got over Chris once again.

Rory’s fight in school is still present, but is just the perfect reason for Rory to go to Boston, to Sherry, when she’s in labour and none of her friends are with her. Rory is still doing everything when she’s asked to. This is getting annoying, but it can be used in here nicely once again.

The opening scene, where Lorelai and Rory talk about their Europe trip with Emily and Richard, is one of the best scenes ever! First Emily and Richard just think that everything is a joke, since they only know Europe out of the most expensive and exclusive hotels. It’s such a funny scene, especially when Emily reads the passage out of that book about sleeping on a park bank. Hilarious!

Sherry isn’t ready yet to get that child, even though nature tells her so. This is actually an interesting thought, but for me (as a man) not really understandable. Well this part is very well written.

Lorelai is alone with Emily for dinner and so we learn a bit more about Emily. When she leaves the typical Emily breaks through once again.

Luke is moving forward with his new girlfriend, Taylor’s lawyer. I think they are a nice couple.

The scenes in the hospital are nice, but we see how much Lorelai is reminded of her own youth and is really hurting. It’s so sad to look at her.

The most important in this episode happens in the flashbacks. Some of them fit in the camera movement, others are just betweens scenes. They look a bit displaced first, but in the end they make a perfect picture.

The first flashback that is shown shows us Lorelai and Christopher when they are 16. The only reference to the current story, are the travel guides of Europe. In this episode we see the two as happy and rebellious teenagers that have wild fantasies about their future.

The second flashback takes us to the photo shoot of Lorelai where she is photographed in her debutant dress. This picture is shown in one of the episodes in season one. A nice reference by the way.

Emily is still the same like she was twenty years ago and also we get a picture how much Lorelai hated her childhood. But her face when she first finds out that she is (or at least might be) pregnant tells everything. The shock where her world breaks apart for the first time – this will be the moment that changes her life forever.

The third one is the cruelest one. Here is one of the only moments were the strict rules the Gilmore’s life by help Lorelai at least a bit. She isn’t sent away and things are accepted and new plans made. If her parents wouldn’t have been this strong, who knows where she might have landed.

The kids sitting on the stairs and listen are so sad. But while we saw in the first flashback, that Christopher is the one who is the one ready to go further and be more rebellious, now it’s Lorelai. We see how her idea of an independent life starts out and take a form. Just to get away from her parents. It will work somehow. We know it did, and we can underline the somehow, when we remember back to the episode “Emily in Wonderland” where we see how poorly Lorelai lived on her own.

The fourth flashback shows us Lorelai home when her labours start. We see how young she still is. She’s still a child - in her room surrounded by teddy bears and some music posters. We get the first impression of her independence, when we see her alone in the hospital checking in. The song that she listens to is form Nena and called 99 Lufballons (also listed in the guide). The surprising thing is that this is the original version in German and not the English one called 99 red balloons. The text in the song underlines the sadness of this scene. Translated something about this: Do you have some time for me? Then I sing a song of 99 air balloons on their way to the horizon. Maybe you think about me, so I sing a song for you about 99 air balloons.

What does that means? Lorelai and her baby are the balloons on their way to the horizon and nobody really thinks about her (or at least not in the way she would like it). This song matches perfectly in this scene, especially those four lines played.

The fifth flashback shows us Lorelai in the hospital minutes before she gives birth. Her typical personality is supported in this scene. Even in such a moment, she’s still sarcastic, even when it’s more desperate in here.

The nurse might be used to such things, but I think that might touch her too.

Then another glorious entrance of Emily Gilmore: She reads the short note, some kind of prototype note for later about the fact that the labours begun. Emily has to accept a first defeat, when she is thrown out of the delivery room. It somehow symbolises that Lorelai is now grown up and she can’t fallow her anywhere anymore, even though Lorelai is only 16.

The thing about Richard’s shoes I just don’t get. But I think that isn’t so important.

The sixth scene shows Rory in the baby station when Lorelai and Chris look at her. Here it’s getting obvious that Lorelai is ready to leave her world behind, even though Chris wants to get married.

The last scene is maybe the saddest one. Emily and Richard are leaving for one of their events they always clash over, when Emily finds Lorelai’s note, that she’s gone. Left them, without saying goodbye, no note where she goes and nothing. A note she Lorelai and Chris joked about in the first flashback scene. The same short note she used to tell Emily that she’s in the hospital. Emily almost starts to cry and we can assume that she really did.

So it’s actually a happy ending when mother and daughter are united again. The last scene at the wall painting of the family is the perfect ending.

this episode was amazing the fact that they finally showed us what lorelai's lif was like before she had her daughter. i could not believe how controlling emily really was unil this episode. i would hate to have her as a mother. the flahbacks showed us that lorelai always fought with her mother and it didn't just start when she got pregnant and moved out shortly safter having rory. i think it is funny that the parents though the kids getting married was the only solution to them haveing a baby. i don't think that they would have been able to make it because it would have been to much for christopher to handle.
  • Lorelai's flashbacks were cool. Emily's hair was horrible! Glad Chris could be there for Sherry, but Lorelai looked so sad cause he wasn't there for her.

Sherry's friends aren't that loyal! They just left her in labor with as much as a 'Who are you? Oh right, Rory'. Rory's so nice to stay there with Sherry. It would be weird. I think the name Georgia is cute!

Wow Lorelai was quite pretty when she was 16. And Chris? didn't look anything like him. As I said, Emily's hair looked horrendous! Long does not suit her.

Sigh. Luke is dating Nicole. I just want them to break up so he and Lorelai can be together. Jess is funny.

Ok Paris, can you just calm down long enough to hear exactly what went on with Francie and Rory! That Francie is such a jerk. (no offence to anyone named Francie)

And Kirk was himself as always. *random*

  • Simply one of the greatest episodes ever made for television, and easily one of the best Gilmore girls have ever produced. Loved the flashback sequences, especially Lorelei dealing with her baby!

This is by-far my favorite episode. A classic trip down memory lane. At times it's so emotional and you learn about how the Gilmores and Haydens dealt with Lorelai's pregnancy. Personaly I have always wanted to see what Lorelai's and Christopher'l lives were like right before and during those nine months. All in all this is simply an AWESOME EPISODE!!!
  • Lorelai has flashbacks of being pregnant with Rory while Sherry goes into labor without anyone but Rory to be with her. When Rory hears that she has to go into the delivery room with Sherry she freaks out and calls Lorelai to be with her. Christopher come

I loved this episode. Chelsea Brummet did an amazing job fitting into the character that Lauren Graham made Lorelai to be. I had always wondered exactly what had happened when Rory was born and this episode answers most, if not all, of the questions. Maybe one of my favorite episodes.

Usually I dread flash back episodes but this was actually a nice one .

We finally got to see Lorelei's relationship with her parents as a teenager which explained alot of things & also about her relationship with Christopher.

We also finally got to see the story of Rory's birth.

Watching Lorelei's and Christopher's parent's plan their future and lives for them after finding out about the pregnancy , without even including them in the whole discussion explained alot , especially why Lorelai doesnt get along with her parents.

The funniest part was when Lorelei went into labour and left her parents a note , showing us that she didn't want to include them in the whole situation.

  • Pregnancies: Sherry vs. Lorelai

    9.8
    "Superb"
The show starts out with Richard and Emily finding out how the girls plan to travel through Europe. At first they laugh because they don't think the girls are serious about backpacking and that turns to sheer horror when they find out it's true.

There were three filler scenes. The first being the verbally sparring between Dean and Jess. It was fun to see them doing some give and take without it being about Rory. The next one was about a customer at the inn continually changing his mind about the theme for his party. Another very funny scene, especially Michel and Sookie's reactions! And the last was a "Paris-being-Paris" in using her power to humiliate Rory. Kind of funny but irritating.

The main story shows the differences between Lorelai's pregnancy and delivery and Sherry's delivery. I loved that Sherry's friend kept insisting that Sherry screwed up somehow and that's why she was delivering early. Their yuppy attitudes made for some funny moments.

The flashbacks showed that Christopher never intended to live up to his father's expectations so the fact that he allowed his parents to blame Lorelai (Episode 01-15) really ticks me off. It's funny to see how calm Lorelai is about going to the hospital and checking herself in. Then her diatribe with the nurse about pain is classic Lorelai. And when Emily comes rushing in yelling at her even as she is going into the delivery room that "this is not over" is hilarious. We're able to see how becoming pregnant gives Lorelai the courage to assert her independence. She doesn't marry Christopher and after a little while she moves out of her parents house leaving just a note on the table.

Rory goes to the hospital to be with Sherry and when she finds out that she may have to be the coach, she flips out and calls Lorelai. Lorelai leaves her parents' house to help Rory out of a tough situation. Emily's reaction is expected. She is outraged that Lorelai is going to help Sherry deliver THAT child. Lorelai informs her that she is helping Rory not Sherry by going.

When she gets to the hospital she makes Sherry stop working and concentrate on delivering. She and Rory talk for a minute before Christopher makes it there and rushes to Sherry's side. He is such a self-absorbed creep, he doesn't notice that his gushing about being there for Sherry and how G.G. is perfect is just tearing Lorelai into a thousand pieces. Personally, I think it is great that things didn't work out between them. He is nowhere near good enough for her.

Very good episode. Hope they do another about her first days in Stars Hollow and the inn.
  • It`s very important see what happened when Lorelai and Cristopher were a teenagers.

The episode story line talk about the bird of Cristopher`s daughter, but is a good time to see what happened in Lorelai`s pregnancy.

I love the flashback, the actress who played Lorelai was great, so close to reality. I love the scene in the hospital when she talk so quickly, so Lorelai.

Also, see the relationship between young Lorelai and Emily, explain to many things, Lorelai doesn`t hate her parents, just they don`t understand her. And, maybe she doesn`t understand them.

The scene when see Rory like a baby, a beautiful baby, there scene is when Lorelai take a decision, maybe the most important decision in her life.
  • It's a stroll down memory lane...

This episode reunited Christopher and Lorelai for the fans, in a slightly unusual way.

I always love a flashback episode, especislly when we get to see the characters in a time period prior to the pilot.

Chris and Lorelai have always been amusing together as adults, and in this episode we got to see them both as the rebellious, bantering teenagers we always knew they were. It becomes extremely evident that Lorelai and Emily's relationship has never been perfect. But it seems that Lorelai's pregnancy is the best thing that ever happened to them. Who knows what might've happened if she hadn't had Rory and their relationship would continue to spiral downwards.

The episode compared between the two births of Christopher's babies. He wasn't there for the first one (was it ever explained why?), which applies also to his involvement in her life. When his second child was born, he just barely made it, but he was there. Sherry really is a peculiar woman. This episode showed just how work-dedicated she is, and it is painfully obvious her mother skills and abilities need some fine tuning.

Jess and Dean were hilarious together,as always, and their conversation in the diner is one of my favorite scenes.

The last scene with Lorelai ana Emily was beautifully done, and it proved that deep down, Lorelai does love her mother.

All in all, this episode was amusing, entertaining and gave us some more background to the entire story.
  • As Sherry goes into labor, Christopher is no where to be found. Rory heads to the hospital to find out she might have to be in the delivery room. Rory asks Lorelai to come causing Lorelai to reminise about her pregnancy, the birth of Rory, and running away

I think this episode was absolutly remarkable. It give's us an insite of Lorelai when she became pregnant with Rory. We finally get to see some of the events that brought her to Stars Hollow. I also applaud the actors they chose to play Lorelai and Christopher, I personally don't think they could have chosen anyone better. They played the characters perfectly. In my eye's this was the best episode of Gilmore Girls they have done so far.
  • After two years, we see how it all began and ended for Lorelai and Christopher in a flashback episode that brings back memories, both good and bad, that parallel with the birth of Rory's sister.

"Dear Mom and Dad, I'm in labor. See you later. Lorelai."

This week on Gilmore Girls: The dreaded flashback episode. I have to admit, I was looking forward to it...until I saw it.

The episode begins with Rory and Lorelai sharing their plans to backpack around Europe with Emily and Richard. The girls want to be "spontaneous" and stay in youth hostels, Emily and Richard are appalled by this idea and insist the girls contact their travel agent. Lorelai tells her mother that they want to save money and Emily offers to pay for the trip, but Lorelai refuses. Emily and Richard sit looking horrified and we fade to opening credits.

The next scene has Cute Dean in it. He's helping out the construction crew with the renovations. The foreman tells him to take the lunch order, Cute Dean complies and is on his way to Luke's when he bumps into Miss Patty. What can I say, the woman creeps me out a little...ok a lot. She flirts with Cute Dean while eying the rest of the construction crew. Cute Dean excuses himself saying he has to get to Luke's with the lunch order, but Miss Patty has already forgotten him and starts making growling noises at the other men.

Over at Luke's, Jess is being a pain in the butt (what else is new), tormenting Luke about his upcoming date with Nicole. Luke tells him he wants to bash his head in with the frying pan. Ok no, not really...but he was probably thinking it. Anyway, Luke tells Jess that he wants to take Nicole to a nice restaurant and Jess tells him that he never bothers to go to this much trouble for Rory. Yeah, no kidding Jess. Luke leaves to get away from his annoying nephew, just as Cute Dean walks in with the lunch order.

The lunch order is incredibly long. The scene is incredibly long, if it weren't for the fact that Cute Dean was in this scene I'd be hitting the fast forward button. The scene is all about the lunch order and the exchange of sassy remarks between Dean and Jess. Yes, these guys hate each other, that's clear.

Meanwhile at the Inn, Lorelai is on the phone with some person that keeps changing his mind about the theme for his retirement party. This causes copious amounts of grief for the staff at the inn since this is like the hundredth time that the man has changed his mind. Sookie throws a cake that looks like a golf ball into the garbage. What's the point of all this? Aside from wasting a perfectly good cake, nothing. We never get to see the retirement party or discover what theme is finally acceptable. A whole lot of setup for a whole lot of nothing.

Anyway, moving on...back at Lorelai's house, there is a box of old travel books waiting for the Gilmores from Emily. The box is heavy and Lorelai jokes that it must contain her mother's hopes and dreams for her. The books are old, Lorelai remembers them from when she was a teenager and comments that she was probably the only one that ever read them. With that we jump into flashback mode.

Sigh...who did the casting for young Christopher and young Lorelai? Better yet, what cheap drugs were they on when they hired these miserable actors. I'm stunned by how bad they are, the boy playing young Christopher looks nothing like Christopher. The girl playing young Lorelai is always yelling her lines. They both keep yelling their lines...louder is not better. They're so bad they're distracting me from the scene. In short, no one is home, the kids get their hands on the alcohol and make a baby.

Meanwhile at Chilton, Paris is taking the "holding-a-grudge" thing pretty seriously. The girls are talking yearbook pictures and Paris has chosen one that makes Rory look like a dork. Rory complains but Paris ignores her...am I the only one that finds this subplot really tiresome?

Luckily, Rory's cell phone rings. It's one of Sherry's annoying friends telling Rory that there has been a change of plans. Looks like Sherry is giving birth a week early and her friend is trying to gather everyone together to rally around "our Sherry". The woman asks Rory if she can get to the hospital and Rory says something about the train and a bus or just the train but it doesn't matter because the woman is not listening anyway. Rory leaves the school to go to the hospital. We leave present day Gilmore land to visit another flashback.

Young Lorelai is trying to get into a gown for her debutante portrait. The photographer is waiting and complaining to Emily that he can't wait much longer. Emily runs up to Lorelai's bedroom to find out what's taking her so long. The dress doesn't fit, Emily is confused, the dress fit perfectly three months ago. Exasperated she tells Lorelai that she'll just have to re-schedule the portrait and advises her daughter to start running around the block to lose some weight. Young Lorelai looks at her reflection in the mirror and scrunches up her face. I guess the scrunched up face is her way of telling the audience that she's pregnant.

Back to present day at Luke's. Lorelai is drinking lots of coffee in preparation for her dinner alone with her mother. Luke walks in all dressed up for his date. He looks good, too bad Lorelai is too self-absorbed to notice. When she finally does notice, Nicole walks in and Lorelai realizes that Luke is going on a date. Before they leave the diner, Nicole gets a call on her cell phone. Lorelai is stunned when Luke says nothing despite the "no cell phone" rule at the diner. Lorelai's reaction is hilarious and her silent fight with Luke is definitely the funniest moment of the episode.

Back at the hospital, Rory caters to a hysterical Sherry. Sherry is freaking out about going into labor early and Rory is busy trying to re-schedule appointments for her on the cell phone. Cell phone? You're not allowed to use cell phones in the hospital. This doesn't seem to stop either Rory or Sherry from doing it though. The nurse walks in and asks if the father has arrived. Seems like the girls cannot get a hold of Christopher and the nurse wants to know who is going to go in with Sherry when the time comes. Sherry volunteers Rory for the job. Rory looks pretty mortified. No one seems to care that the cell phone has disrupted the heart monitor in the next room and the patient hooked up to it goes into cardiac arrest.

Rory makes an excuse to go out to telephone her mother, meanwhile Sherry takes the cell phone and makes more calls. The nurse laughs maniacally as the patient next door flatlines. Ok not really, but puh-lease...cell phones in a hospital?

Rory's frantic call to her mother pulls her away from her dinner with Emily. Emily is disgusted that Lorelai would go to the hospital to be with Christopher's girlfriend but Lorelai tells her that Rory needs her and that is all that matters. We slip into another flashback, young Lorelai goes into labor and takes herself to the hospital. She is filling out forms when the elevator doors open and Lorelai 2003 walks out. This might be interesting in a sci-fi kind of way, but it's just a segue into the present time. I'm getting tired of flashbacks at this point.

Lorelai arrives at the hospital to be with Rory. She helps out with Sherry and tries to calm her. Sherry is a babbling idiot. Christopher finally arrives and Sherry fawns over him...the insensitivity in this scene towards Rory and Lorelai is killing me. More flashbacks, Lorelai was all alone when she gave birth to Rory. Sherry gives birth, Christopher comes out to tell Lorelai and Rory how wonderful it was and I just want to punch him in the face. What a loser. This trip down memory lane just confirmed that fact. The man is a terrible father to Rory and now he's rubbing his new daughter's birth in Lorelai and Rory's faces. You can't help but feel sorry for Lorelai when she's standing in front of the glass looking at Christopher's new daughter.

The final flashback shows Emily and Richard getting ready for a party. Emily finds a letter from Lorelai and reads it, she looks heartbroken and we realize that Lorelai is gone. You can't go back, but the final scene of this week's episode shows that you can make amends. Lorelai arrives at her mother's place with a DVD player. It's a small gesture but as the camera pans upwards to the portrait of Emily, Richard and a young Lorelai you can't help but feel a few warm fuzzies...or maybe it's the alcohol.

    Highlights:

    - Emily's comment about everyone's fascination with forensic medicine.

    - The cell phone rule violation at Luke's.

    - Luke without the baseball cap. Luke going out on a date.

    - The scene between Emily and Lorelai about DVD players.

    Not so good stuff:

    - Young Christopher and young Lorelai

    - Older Christopher and Sherry fawning over each other.

    - Lack of Lane and David

    - Boring Chilton drama
