At Friday night dinner, Lorelai and Rory are having an animated discussion about whether Ashley Simpson should have dyed her hair brunette or kept it blonde. Lorelai is waving her meatball around during the argument. Emily decides she has had enough and takes their supper away. Richard comes into the room to find his dinner gone and reminds Emily that they spaghetti and meatballs are too much excitement for the girls. To change the topic, Emily tells the Lorelai and Rory that she is having Lasik surgery on her eyes because she hates wearing glasses. The topic then turns to lunch with Christopher. They explain that there has been a lot of tension between them because of the tuition debacle and they decided to put things right. Emily and Richard explain that they have decided to donate the money they would have used for Rory's tuition to Yale in Rory's name. They promise that it will go towards something really impressive like a building. They want her name prominently displayed. Rory is very uncomfortable with their plans.
Logan is about to be discharged from the hospital and the doctor is giving Rory last minute instructions for his care.
In the Dragonfly kitchen, Michel is on the phone arguing heatedly with someone while he jogs on the spot. Lorelai comes in for coffee and asks him to stop jumping around. He explains that the milk company typically puts blue caps on their skim milk but made an error and put the blue caps on their 2% milk instead. He is upset because he has been consuming extra calories all week and he is jumping around trying to burn them off. Lorelai answers a call from Luke. He asks her if she is coming by the diner today but Lorelai tells him that there is too much to do around the Inn. He suggests they get together in the evening but Lorelai explains that there is a staff meeting. Both Sookie and Michel are disturbed by this news, as they will have to change their plans. Luke tells her that he will see her tomorrow but Lorelai is a bit vague as to her plans for the next day as well. When she gets off the phone, Sookie and Michel complain about the unscheduled meeting but Lorelai tells them there really isn't a staff meeting. It is clear that Lorelai is avoiding Luke. Jackson barges into the kitchen and drags Sookie away for a private talk. He tells her that the Templeton brothers planted one of his fields with marijuana and he is panicked about what he should do.
Luke is taking Kirk's order when Liz comes into the diner. She is thrilled about how well the Renaissance fair went and is delighted to report that she actually has extra money for a change. She announces that she has some exciting news. She is pregnant. Luke is delighted for her but she tells him that T.J. is gone. Luke is incensed to know that he ran out on his wife and child. Liz has a Zen attitude about it and tries to calm him. She tells him that everything is okay.
In Logan's apartment he wakes up to find Paris and Doyle in his apartment 'babysitting' him for Rory. Logan meets with opposition when he attempts to get up to go to the washroom. Paris asks where his bedpan is. In frustration, he calls Rory at the news office asking her to dismiss his caretakers. Rory speaks to Paris and asks her to stand down.
At the news office, Bill brings an article from the Wall Street Journal for her to read. Rory is appalled to see that in an interview with Mitchum Huntzberger, he has suggested that he has mentored Rory who is the editor of the Yale Daily News.
While busy at the Inn, Lorelai takes a call from her distraught mother whose Lasik surgery has not gone well. She asks Lorelai to come help her with her errands. Of course, Lorelai agrees to help her out.
Rory is livid about the article and is venting to Logan. He tries quite unsuccessfully to calm her. He suggests that the paper will be in the recycling bin by tomorrow and all will be forgotten. Rory is not entirely convinced but is soon distracted when Logan gets up to walk. Logan tells her that what Mitchum said was positive and she should just let it go but she refuses.
Lorelai arrives at her mother's darkened house to find her lying dramatically on the couch. Lorelai finds out that the procedure did not go well. Emily has dismissed all the help so Lorelai is forced to stay and help her. She asks Lorelai to drive her around so that she can do her errands. Lorelai suggests that Emily just give her a list and she'll do the errands but Emily insists that she be driven around. What is worse, she insists that Lorelai drives a huge SUV with darkened windows.
In a tavern, T.J. is sitting dejectedly at the bar when Luke bursts through the door. He approaches T.J. ready to punch him out. T.J. doesn't seem to understand why Luke is so hostile but doesn't resist. He braces himself for a beating. Luke doesn't want to hit him if he doesn't defend himself and T.J. doesn't want to defend himself because he hasn't got anything against Luke. He finally asks Luke why he is so angry. Luke accuses him of walking out on Liz and the baby but T.J. explains that Liz kicked him out. Luke finally realizes what is going on. He explains to T.J. that Liz was worried that she would be a bad mother to the new baby like she was to Jess. Luke begins to give T.J. relationship advice unaware that his own relationship is at a crossroads.
Lorelai is having trouble driving the SUV and is getting honked at by other motorists. She is frustrated by the demands of her mother and Emily is frustrated with Lorelai over her perceived lack of cooperation. Emily begins discussing Christopher and how lonely he seems. She starts to suggest women that he might enjoy meeting. Lorelai tells her that Christopher can find his own women. She seems strangely disturbed by her mother's focus on Chris' love life.
At the news office, Rory calls the writer responsible for the interview with Mitchum Huntzberger. She requests a correction but finds out that even though the impression that Michum mentored Rory was not correct there were no false statements made during the interview. The writer explains that they do not print corrections to impressions.
At Luke's, Liz is sitting with a support group for single moms while they complain about their exes. Luke comes in and pulls Liz aside. He reassures her that she will be a good mother this time because things are different now. She is in good shape and has money. He reminds her that Jess turned out great and is doing really well now. He encourages her to put her fears aside. She has a husband who loves her and will be able to help her with the baby. Liz expresses concern that he won't forgive her but Luke points outside to a nervous T.J. Liz goes outside and they embrace. Luke looks out at them and smiles.
Lorelai pulls up in front of a real estate office. She is confused as to why they are going to a real estate office but gets no explanation from her mother. Inside the office, a woman shows them pictures of a beautiful property. Lorelai asks her mother why she is looking at the house. Emily asks Lorelai what she thinks of the house. Lorelai admits that it is a beautiful house but wonders why her mother needs a second beautiful house. Emily finally explains that the house is a wedding present for her and Luke. Lorelai is shocked. She looks at the pictures but becomes very emotional. In tears, she tells her mother that the wedding is not going to happen.
In Stars Hollow, Sookie and Jackson have returned home after trying to get rid of the marijuana. When there is a knock at the door, they nervously ask who is there. They open the door to find a strangely reserved Lorelai asking if she can come in. She explains that she just wants to hang out for a while. The three of them sit without speaking until Lorelai asks them what smells. Sookie tells her it is sixteen pounds of marijuana. Lorelai just nods her head and continues to sit without another word.
