  • Sweet holiday episode, funny and dramatic

    9.0
    "Superb"
This is one of the best episodes of the show, I think. It has the usual witty quips that the show is known for among its fans, but the performance by Lauren Graham really made the episode. Her panic in the diner when she gets the call, giving Luke a hard time about his driving because she couldn't really let herself freak out about the real problem, not being able to go into the hospital room... and the moment when Ed Hermann wakes up, and they see each other and they are both about to cry - that's one of the best emotional moments on tv. I've seen just about every episode of Gilmore Girls, and most of them I've seen several times. This is one of my favorites because it's still early in the show, and the relationship between Luke and Lorelai is still sweet and uncomplicated - they give to each other and there isn't all the extra drama. As a fan I could probably come up with a lot of episodes that are favorites for a variety of reasons, they were funnier, or lighter, or more happened in the episode to move things along, but this one still has all the elements of what made the show so great while it lasted, and it was nice to catch a repeat of it during the holiday season, too!
  • Things are still frosty for the Gilmores, until they must make a visit to the hospital. Another brilliant episode.

This was brilliant, yet again. It was interesting to see Rory and Lorelai still not talking, made the episode a bit more enjoyable. The looks they gave each other showed us just how strong there relationship is. Lane giving the advice to Rory was funny, the whole mother/bible camp thing was hilarious.

Emily uninviting Lorelai to the Christmas dinner was a great scene, really engrossing. It's really entertaining to watch these two fight. Rory going alone, you kind of felt sorry for her, I thought we were going to have another 'birthday party' incident, luckily for Rory, we didn't.

It was good to see Rory try to defend her mother and she was obviously annoyed about Emily's comments throughout the night. We get to see more of Luke, which is good, a great character from what I can tell. The Santa shaped burger was funny and a clear sign of his feelings for Lorelai.

Lorelai reaction to her dad being in the hospital was well done, her conversation with Luke in the car was revealing. How she though she hadn't got the daughter part down yet. Emily was really funny with the nurse, shouting many things at her. Then Lorelai arrived, liked when she told the nurse to leave, for her own good.

Richard turns out to be okay, which leads to everyone forgiving each other. Lorelai admits she knows Rory didn't do anything, this is also after a conversation with Dean outside Rory's bedroom window, which I liked. Then Emily and Lorelai don't actually say sorry to each other, but go off to eat something, showing that all is forgiven.

Lorelai later gives Luke a hat, another clear sign of her feelings. I thought it was great with Luke in the hospital, he looked down at the ground because he hates seeing sick people being driven by. The whole 'You look good' thing said by Lorelai was also great, as was his reaction.

I say get rid of Max Lorelai and choose Luke instead. Lorelai also has a kind of touching moment with her father, which was nice to see. Emily demanding to die first was so in character, it was funny and interesting.

So this was another brilliant episode, I hope it continues this way.
  • I haven't seen much of this show, but what I have seen I have liked very much. This is an excellent Holiday episode.

After Loralie and Emily have a disagreement Emily un invites Loralie to Christmas dinner. Rory goes to the dinner by herself, and is very uncomfortable with how her grand mother is treating the situation. During dinner Richard becomes overheated and goes to turn down the thermostat and collapses.

Rory calls Loralie and leaves a message for her to come to the hospital. Loralie gets the message while at Luke's diner. Luke gives Loralie a ride. Loralie is nervous about seeing her dad when he is finally able to have visitors. When she goes in the room to see him, the visit is cut short by the doctor and Emily coming in.

This is a gret show that deals with family relationships. I haven't seen but maybe a season, or a little over, and I am always impressed.
  • Touching!

Emily and Richard are having their annual Christmas dinner. Lorelai gets uninvited by Emily. Rory goes though. Lorelai and Dean work things out. Richard collapses and is rushed to the hospital. Lorelai finds out and asks Luke to drive her up there. She realizes that she might lose her father and is scared to see him. Richard is going to be fine. Lorelai gets Luke a hat for Christmas.

This was a great episode! I like the Luke/Lorelai thing. It was nice of Lorelai to get that hat. I'm glad Richard is okay. This episode gets a 9.5 out of 10 from me!
  • When something bad happens, your heart speaks louder than your head

The things are still bad between Lorelai and Emily and Lorelai and Rory. It's Christmas and Lorelai and Emily fight over the phone and Lorelai is uninvited to the family Christmas dinner.

Stuck at home, Dean comes by looking for Rory.

Later she goes to Luke's, a lot of people come in and she gets a call from Rory telling that Richard is at the hospital.

She freaks and Luke closes the cafe immediately so he can take her to the hospital.

On the way Lorelai yells at Luke, she's nervous. She tells things about her father and says that she doesn't know the part of being a daughter of someone. Emily is arguing with the nurse and Lorelai comes, Emily is surprised to see her. Lorelai solves the problem with the nurse and takes some actions like walking thought the "authorized personal only" doors . They later find out that Richard is going to be fine.

The look on Lorelai's eyes when she stared at her father told it all, he knew it too, it only toke a look. that's amazing.

When someone that you care about is ill or in trouble, no mather what you go and that's what she did.
  • Emily uninvites Lorelai to their annual Christmas Party. Lorelai is shocked and hurt. She goes to Luke's for dinner instead. Lorelai gets a call that her father is in the hospital. Luke closes the diner and takes her to the hospital. Richard is fine.

I love this episode. Even though Lorelai doesn't like going to her parents' house for dinner every Friday night, she is hurt that she is not allowed to come to their Christmas dinner. She actually enjoys it. And people there know her well enough to know that she is obsessive over the apple tarts.

Lorelai and Luke really bond in this episode. First at the diner, then in the truck on the way to the hospital, and then at the hospital. They have such amazing chemistry. The are mesmerizing to watch. He is really there for her when she is unsure what is going to happen to her father.

It was nice to see her feeling for her father. This event will hopefully change their relationship a little bit. It definitely will bring Richard closer to his granddaughter. Rory is so worried she will never get to know her grandfather.

It was really a touching episode all around. I really loved it!
  • This is one of my favorite episodes, I love it.

I love this episode so much, it is one of my favorites. There were so many things about this episode that I enjoyed and that I would watch over and over again. This was a very special episode for many reasons. One reason is that there were some Luke and Lorelai moments. Luke was, and always will be, there for Lorelai and support her, no matter what. Luke was also nice to Emily, which can be hard sometimes. This was also a turning point in the Lorelai and Emily relationship. They made up, in a way, in this episode and they both were at the hospital for Richard. And Rory was there too, and she showed how much she cares about Richard and his health. Like I said before, this is one of my favorite episodes, and there were so many things that I enjoyed and would watch over and over again.
  • Possibly my favorite episode ever!

I am in love with Christmas, so naturally I loved this episode... But it's amazing for so many reasons.

When Lorelai finds out Richard's in the hospital, Luke comes to the rescue. This is the first episode I think when the chemistry between Luke and Lorelai really comes through. He's so sweet and shows that he will always be there. Plus they're so funny bantering in the hospital!

Lauren Grahm really is amazing in this episode. It really shows how she feels about her parents, she dislikes and loves them... It's just an amazing episode, plus it has a John Lennon song in it!

richard and emily throw a christmas party two weeks before christmas and emily univites lorelai. i have to say that it is not all that surpising that emily did not want lorelai to attend her party. it seems that emily likes to tell lorelai what to do and she likes things done her way so it is not sll that big of a shock she choose to tell her not to come but send rory and lie to everyone ehy her daughter was not there. i was really sadden when richard was hospitalized and lorelai was freaking out i never seen that much emotion towards her father before.
  • Lorelai really cares about her parents

It is so cute that Luke makes Lorelai a Santa burger to get into a festive mood. I also think it is great that he drives her to the hospital; this shows that he genuinely cares for her. It's funny to finally see Luke be disturbed by something; he hates the hospital and his reactions are just hilarious. Lorelai and Emily are still in their little tift from the dance but they eventually get over it by the end of the episode so they can come together when Richard needs them.
  • Lorelai remembers how her father wasn't the greatest father but she still loves him.

When Richard is sick and in the hopspital, Luke drives lorelai to see him. She gets scared tha her dad is going to die and even though he never was the best dad , she would still miss him. She gets there and finds Emily yelling at the receptionist. Later they find out the Richard is going to be ok, but Lorelai stays with Emily just because she felt bad that she never really went in to see her father before they found out he was ok.

This episode was great because it dealt with Lorelai and her mother and the conflicts of their past. While Emily is mad at Lorelai, she wants to get over the past and move. It has a very good scequence of scenes in the middle of the episode. Especially when Lorelai interacts with her father. It is also clear to see that Luke likes Lorelai, from this early on in the show. I am glad that they had a good scene with Lorelai and Richard. It was good to see that she really loves her parents.
  • This is the episode that pulled me in.

I came across this episode one lazy afternoon and, having nothing better to do, I decided to give this show a chance. More than 100 episodes and a *healthy* obsession later, I still think it's one of the series' best. This episode shows off all of this show's brilliant aspects - there's high drama (ok, this is probably one of the series' *most* dramatic episodes), revelations of character traits etc, making it a great episode to start watching with.
  • Tearjerker, part deux

    9.7
    "Superb"
Christmas episode but without the cheer. Due to last weeks fireworks, Lorelai is uninvited to the x-mas party and at the party, Richard suffers a heart attack and is taken to the emergency room. Lorelai talked about her childhood with her father so we got more background on her childhood. The tearjerker part came in when Lorelai went into see her father. Good, touching moment and a good, touching episode.
  • Christmas episode part deux

    9.6

Christmas episode part 2. Holiday cheer is put on hold. Lorelai gets uninvited to a Christmas party due to the fight last episode, Richard has a heart attack at the Christmas party and Luke almost passes out at the sight of gore at the hospital. Not too cheery but Luke did make a Santa burger. Gross but jolly. Plus this episode had yet another indication that Luke and Lorelai are meant for each other. He drove her to the hospital, Emily thought they were on a date, then calls them idiots for not being together. Let’s face the writing on the wall people. Put them together. My overall score: A+

I just rewatched this episode and found so many things I missed before this was sad, funny, insightful, and done well. When the univiting to christmas dinner happened it was so sad. I felt so sorry for L. then when she was walking through the town and all the beauty that surrounded her you could see the hurt in her eyes. When she was at Lukes she was so sad but Luke was there to try to cheer her up. Then when she got the call about her dad the panic was felt right through the TV. Though she displays a hatred for her mom and dad she truly loves them. It was nice in the end when she and her mom went down to the cafeteria. Greate episode. especially when she went into her dad's room and their eyes met.
