Episode Recap

At Kim's Antiques, Mrs. Kim is supervising food preparations for Lane's wedding. Lane comes downstairs dizzy from the smell of the kimchi but Mrs. Kim shoos her back upstairs exclaiming that all work stops when the bride is around. As Lane goes back upstairs, Lorelai comes in with her wedding dress. Before Lorelai is able to open the garment bag, Mrs. Kim is called away to the phone. She seems a little stunned when she returns. Both Lorelai and Lane look a little apprehensive as she begins to pull out the dress. Mrs. Kim is too distracted to notice the major changes Lorelai made to the wedding dress but Lane is ecstatic. Mrs. Kim thanks Lorelai but seems a bit bewildered. She tells her she will see her and Luke at the wedding. Lorelai explains that Luke is out of town but she will be there. Mrs. Kim is distracted as she walks away. Lane is thrilled with the dress but Lane and Lorelai are both surprised by Mrs. Kim's reaction.

Lane: Did she see it?
Lorelai: Well, I held it up right in front of her face.
Lane: But she didn't yell! It's got a waist and she didn't yell.
Lorelai: Don't question it. Take the dress upstairs and hide it 'till you're walking down the aisle, and even then, walk fast.
Lane: Thank you!
Lorelai: Okay.

Lane heads upstairs and Lorelai leaves. Mrs. Kim comes running out of the kitchen yelling for Lorelai to come back. She tells Lorelai in no uncertain terms that she may not come to the wedding unescorted. She explains that unmarried women of her age, dressing as she does, might be perceived as a tramp. Lorelai walks off contemplating how it is she continues to disappoint mothers and how she is going to find a man in two days when it took her all these years to find Luke.

At the Yale Daily News Rory is working hard to finish newspaper business before she must leave for Stars Hollow and the wedding celebrations. Juliet and Rosemary rush in with a rather interesting proposition. They try to talk Rory into going to Costa Rica with them to see the boys but for obvious reasons Rory rejects their proposition. They do, however, detect an icy mien in Rory's refusal. She finished the layout, dealt with Paris's latest dilemma and left for Stars Hollow.

At the Dragonfly, Lorelai is making the gift bags for Lane's bachelorette party. She has arranged to go to the wedding with Michel and he seems excited by the opportunity to 'strut his stuff'. While Lorelai and Sookie are dealing with a crisis of over expanded dirty cookies for the party, Christopher calls. He checks with Lorlelai to see if he has over stepped his parental position by giving her a Sidekick. Lorelai assures him that Rory is an adult now and he doesn't have to check with her to buy Rory a gift. They chat for a while and say good-bye.

Rory arrives at Kim's to find Lane and her mom running around frantically carrying boxes out of the house. Rory finds out that her grandmother is coming to the wedding. Lane's grandmother is a Buddhist and she doesn't know that Mrs. Kim is a Seventh Day Adventist. They are hiding all the Christian religious paraphernalia. The ultimate irony is exposed…Mrs. Kim had a secret life from her mother too. When Mrs. Kim's mother comes in, it is the first time in six years we see Mrs. Kim cowed. Her mother doesn't hesitate to show her disapproval of all she sees. Lane and Rory leave Mrs. Kim and her mother performing the ritual of one hundred and eight bows in front of Buddha.

The twinkling bachelorettes come out of Doose's laden with pretzels, beer and chocolate. They are planning to go to see Richard Gere in American Gigolo excited to see the 'money shot'. A while later, we see them returning from the theatre, disappointed because they missed the beginning of the show. While standing around trying to decide what else they could do, the bachelors walk by. After a couple of false starts, they all end up in Brian's aunt's house playing foosball.

The next day while Lorelai is getting ready for the wedding, Michel calls to tell her that he has tickets to Celine Dion and won't be going to the wedding. Lorelai is devastated until Rory who is talking to her dad on her Sidekick suggests she asks Christopher to go. Of course, Christopher agrees.

Lane has two beautiful ceremonies. The first is the Buddhist ceremony for her grandmother and when she leaves, all the guests run to the church for the Christian ceremony. After the weddings and after the Korean guests have gotten their food and left the reception, Lane and her mother have a sweet moment.

Mrs. Kim: It was a very nice ceremony.
Lane: It was.
Mrs. Kim: The second one.
Lane: I know.
Mrs. Kim: Thank you for doing two ceremonies. It was very important to your grandmother.
Lane: It was fun. Made my wedding seem a little more special.
Mrs. Kim: Well, it's good you see it that way. All right, well, all my guests are gone. I'm going home.
Lane: Are you sure?
Mrs. Kim: Yes, I'm very tired. I'm going to go home and go straight to bed.
Lane: Okay.
Mrs. Kim: I'm going to wear earplugs tonight. The good ones that expand in your ear so I won't be able to hear anything that might be going on out in the street at all hours of the night.
Lane: (She hugs her mother) Thank you, Mama, for everything! And look at it this way, you're not losing a daughter. You're gaining a son. [She looks over at Zach who is showing off his Buddhist garb) Who likes to wear a dress.
Mrs. Kim: He had better make you happy.
Lane: He will. (Mrs. Kim leaves.)

Lane goes over to Zach and they lean in to kiss but Lorelai runs in and pulls the skirt down on her wedding dress exposing a more fun, shorter, rock and roll wedding dress. Both Zach and Lane are delighted. To Lorelai's delight, Kirk opens a bar with Yummy Bartenders and the party begins.

After Rory took a picture of the group, Lorelai looked at her camera and was a little shaken to see the picture of April and Rory. Feeling sad and a little excluded from Luke's life, she begins to drink heavily. After hearing the toasts, Lorelai decides she wants to give a toast and her sadness over the wedding postponement comes gushing out. She gives a rather unrestrained toast.

Lorelai: Hello, everybody. Hello. Some of you know me as Lorelai Gilmore and some of you know me as Cher, but either way, I wanted to say a few words about our girl. I have known Lane forever, and I am just so incredibly happy that she has gotten married. I mean, I am just so happy that this adorable twenty-two year old girl has gotten married. Because, it's amazing, you know? It's really hard to get married. Believe me. I should know. I mean, seriously, because Lane is married, and next thing it'll be my daughter and then my granddaughter, but not me. I'm not getting married. No, it ain't for me, it's not in the cards. But. Hey, do you know what date I'm not getting married? June third. Do not save the date. Do you hear me? Do whatever you want on June third, because there's nothing at all happening on that day. If there's anything you need to book, or anything, it's totally safe to book it on June third, so. Congratulations, Lane! And Zach! Who else here had eight shots of tequila? Anybody? Hands? No. Oh my gosh, who misses the Yummy Bartenders? I know, me too! They were so great. I was going to ask them to not work on June third on my not wedding. I just thought that would be so fun. (Chris and Rory come to take her away) Hi! Chris! Hi Rory! Hi.

Rory and Chris get her home and to bed. While Chris is caring for Lorelai, Rory receives a call from Colin and Finn telling her that Logan has been in a serious accident. She leaves to be by his bedside.
