Lorelai and Rory arrive for their regularly scheduled Friday night dinner. Richard's in London, helping his mother put her affairs there in order. Emily is on the phone arguing with her lawyer. She's being sued by a former maid for wrongful termination. Emily fired her because she clomped around loudly. Lorelai notes that Emily always manages to find the one bad quality in a maid, but Emily replies that she pays too well to settle for anything less than perfection.



At the inn, Sookie and Jackson argue about vegetables, while Lorelai reminds Michel that she and Sookie are attending a the next day on how to open a B&B.



At Chilton, before the student council meeting, Rory asks Paris what they should do about Francie's attempted coup. Paris says that she took care of it; she negotiated the Wadsworth Mansion's price down, so they can still buy the telescope as a senior gift. During the meeting, they discuss the upcoming health week. Francie wants to hold the blood drive sign-up in the cafeteria, but Rory opposes the idea.



Lorelai gets a call from Emily's lawyer, who wants her to give a deposition for the lawsuit. Lorelai immediately calls Emily and refuses to lie for her mother, but Emily goads her into doing it.



In the B&B Lorelai and Sookie are very bored, because the teacher hasn't said anything they didn't already know. They sneak out early and run into an old friend of Sookie's, Joe, and his business partner, Alex. They're planning to open a chain of coffee shops. Joe and Sookie start reminiscing, and he invites her to have dinner at the restaurant of a mutual acquaintence.



At school, Rory gets a mysterious note asking her to meet. She then goes to the parking garage, where Francie proposes a truce. Rory shakes on it.



At the inn, Joe comes to visit Sookie. He tells her he was so happy to run into her, because it gives him a second chance. He had a crush on her when they worked in the same restaurant years ago, but never had the nerve to ask her out. Sookie realizes that he thinks they're on a date, and privately asks Lorelai for advice on how to handle it. Lorelai tells her to just say she is married, and Sookie does so. Joe is disappointed, but suggests that they all go on a double date sometime.



Rory helps Lorelai prep for her deposition.



At Chilton, Francie corners Paris and shows her pictures of her and Rory. Francie says that Rory wanted the two of them to team up to do things without Paris. Paris gets angry and leaves for fencing



In Paris accuses Rory of backstabbing her, all while fencing aggressively with her. Rory tries to explain. Paris acknowledges that Francie was being manipulative, but that Rory should've told her about it anyway. She can't believe she considered Rory her best friend, and marches out on the verge of tears.



Rory and Lorelai discuss what happened on their way to Friday night dinner. There, Emily begins to read from Lorelai's deposition. Lorelai's answers weren't very flattering, and Emily asks why she couldn't just do this one thing right.



At school, the blood drive sign-up is in full swing in the cafeteria. Paris, Madeline and Louise brush by Rory, who puts on her headphones and eats alone. She also ignores another mysterious note.



Sookie makes dinner for Jackson, with all his favorite dishes. She also puts on his favorite music. He guesses she cheated on him, but she says she only flirted accidentally.



Lorelai gets a call. It's from Alex, Joe's business partner. Alex asks her out on a date.
