Lane is still grounded, severely grounded, can't-even-go-to-school grounded, because she lied to her mother about Henry. Rory and Paris win the debate (was there ever any doubt?), and Lorelai and Rory feel forced to invite Christopher and Sherry back to the house in Stars Hollow for whatever they can dig out of the fridge. Sherry gets pushy about spending time with Rory, convincing Lorelai to excuse her from Friday dinner with the grandparents so Sherry can spend some quality bonding time with her. Emily is angry when she finds out their evening will be Rory-less because of "that woman". She blames Lorelai for letting Christopher get away when the two were destined for each other.

Rory's evening with Sherry goes fine, and she comes back with some interesting details for Lorelai, including the fact that Sherry wants at least two kids and had one other serious relationship, which lasted 11 years. Christopher and Sherry stop by Luke's diner before leaving town. Lorelai tells Christopher that in the back of her mind she had always been holding out hope of the two of them getting together, but now that she sees him with Sherry, she thinks she can move on. Christopher interprets this to mean she blames him for all her failed relationships and leaves angry.
