  • Richard takes Rory and Lorelai to Yale. Brilliant episode, Jess and Rory are together.

    "Superb"
This was a brilliant episode, we had Rory and Jess finally getting together and the trip to Yale was very entertaining.

The awkwardness between Rory and Jess was done very well and was enjoyable. The way the kept saying hi all the time. I thought Luke's reaction to it was great, he liked the idea but gave Jess ground rules anyway, that was a great, funny scene. Amusing how he interrupted them before they kissed.

The end when they did finally kiss, your satisfied because it finally happened. Good how they both liked it but Rory had to see Dean, who was very bitter, wonder if we'll see much of him anymore. Jess's comments throughout were funny, as always. I actually thought Emily was amusing in this episode, with the whole salad thing and when she talked about early Richard.

It was interesting to hear stories of Emily and Richard when they were young, Lorelai reacted with some great one liners. You felt sorry for Rory who was made to do an interview. He was out of line when Lorelai said she didn't have to but he insisted. Lorelai and his fight was right and I think he should have backed down, Emily not knowing was a good addition to it.

I was glad that when Rory left the meeting she gave out to Richard, then Emily went at him 'Don't even look at me' funny. Even more interesting is that at the end both Lorelai and Rory are looking at the Yale booklet, does this mean there interested? Who knows!

This episode takes place right after the dancemarathon when Dean and Rory broke up. So Rory and Jess have admitted that they like each other but they aren't together yet. The episode began with Lorelai and Rory barely being able to walk. I guess that's what you get when you enter a 24 hour dancemarathon. Anyway they go to Luke's as always and run into Jess. The 'hi' moment was very funny and uncomfortable. Luke learns that Jess and Rory are an item now and is very happy about it because he hopes that Rory will have a good influence on Rory. Lorelai on the other hand is just going with the flow.

They go to fridaynight dinner wich has a great moment with Emily complaining about the maid. ("I'm going to fire someone over putting walnuts in the salad after she was told not to put walnuts in the salad.")

Rory goes to the kitchen and Richard follows and wonders if she wants go to Yale on a trip. Rory says yes. Later she tells Lorelai and she has a feeling that Richard is manipulating Rory but she still agrees to go.

The next day Rory goes to Luke's and she runs into Jess. After a couple of uncomfortable moments they go upstairs and as they are about to kiss Luke enters (very loudly) and Rory goes. Luke makes it clear to Jess how he has to treat Rory. Which I think was one of the funniest conversations in Gilmore Girls.

A week later they go to Yale and Richard is giving them a tour. He even shows the place where he proposed to Emily (next to the trash can, how romantic). Everything seems to go well and every Gilmore has a good time untill they enter the administration building and it turns out that Richard arranged an interview for Rory. Turns out Lorelai was right. Rory goes on the interview but is not very happy about this because he didn't tell her and she likes to be prepared. After an argument Rory and Lorelai leave and go back to Stars Hollow.

They go to Luke's and after using the kids code Rory and Jess go outside and have their first kiss as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Before Rory goes home she drops by Dean's house and apologizes for the way she treated him. He however is very bitter and doesn't forgive her. Back home Rory and Lorelai go to bed after a very long day and they read a Yale brochure. It looks like they are reconsidering Yale after all.
  • a special one

OK this one starts after the marathon, the girls can't stay up...

There are some new developments. Kirk is showing around his trophy (someone steals it later, like every year), Jess and Rory are together and is weird at first and Richard is going to have a dinner at Yale and invites Rory to go a see the campus.

I was liking the visit, they went to some places where Ricard and Emily had been when they where young, the place where he proposed, Lorelai and Rory even heard the story about Emily stealing Richard from some other girl. Everything went just fine until they got into the administration building. Richard made an appointment with a n old friend, the Den of Admissions.

They are all caught with surprise, Richard lied to all and Rory goes in. Lorelai and Richard have a discussion and she calls a cab, when Rory comes out she is angry with Richard and her and Lorelai leave.

Passing to another subject, Jess and Rory have their first kiss as a couple, I think it felt weird for her, she left and went to see Dean...

Despite the discussions, both Gilmore girls go to bed and both read the Yale's pamphlet.

Lets wait for the next one.
  • This takes place after the dance marathon. Jess & Rory and now together and for a while its very awkward between them. Kirk's statue is stolen (just like every year). Luke talks to Jess about him dating Rory. Rory & Jess have their first kiss as a couple.

Hands down, my favorite episode. It is very well written and there is alot of funny and sarcastic comments that are made in this episode. The fact that Rory and Jess are finally together makes it even more exciting. Seeing them have their awkward moment in Luke’s apartment, having Luke interrupt them and then Rory dashing out makes it very exciting and makes you wonder what will happen next. But my favorite part in this episode was Rory and Jess's first kiss as a couple, very romantic and sweet.

This in my opinion is one of the best episodes and when this episode airs next I suggest that you watch.

In the aftermath of the Dance Marathon, Kirk parades around Stars Hollow with the trophy until someone steals it, while Lorelai and Rory painfully inch their way towards Luke's; after Lorelai tells Luke about Rory and Jess, he breaks up their first kiss as a couple and then lays down some ground rules with Jess about dating Rory; Lorelai and Rory reluctantly agree to accept Richard's invitation to accompany him and Emily to his Whiffenpoof reunion at Yale, where he springs quite an unwelcome surprise on all three women; back from New Haven, Lorelai and Rory head for Luke's, and Jess and Rory finally get to have those first kisses; Rory visits Dean to apologize and tell him that she misses his friendship; late at night, Lorelai and Rory each curl up with some bedtime reading -- the Yale brochure.

i thought that it was a good episode i was really dissappointed with Richard in it. i thought that it was really nice of Richard to want to take them to Yale to show them around. i thought that it was rally nice of Lorelai and Rory to say they would go. i thought that it was really messed up that Richard would schedule an interview with yale for rory without telling anyone about it until it was time for the interveiw. i thought that it was really great that Lorelai yelled at her parents after she learned about the interview and it was even better when Rory argued with her grandfather over the interview too. i thought that it was really great that rory and jess got together and every time they were around each other all they said was hi. i thought it was nice of rory to go to Dean's house to apoligize to him for what happened between them.
  • This episode was a very special one in my personal opinnion... why? simply coz it\\\'s, as lorelai says: \\\"episode 1 of Rory and Jess, the earliers\\\" it\\\'s the beginning of a new chapter in the life of Rory Gilmore

why? simply coz it\\\'s, as lorelai says: \\\"episode 1 of Rory and Jess, the earliers\\\" it\\\'s the beginning of a new chapter in the life of Rory Gilmore

it also stands the first touch of Rory with yale, that later becomes her college school, so i think that is a very big deal, coz a lot of changes in rory\\\'s life are coming.. we\\\'re finally getting to the good stuff!!!!

in this episode we also get to know for the first time to pennylyn lot, former girlfriend of Richard and the one that causes the temporary break up of richard and emily...

    to sumarize... amazing chapter
  • Jess: No I don't. Tell me. Tell me what I'm going to do to her. Luke: You're not going to do anything to her because when you're at her place, there's Lorelai, and when you're here, there's me, and when you're out there, there's Taylor.

This episode was great & funny. Rory & Jess are now seeing each other. They do make a cute couple & I think that he's a much better boyfriend for her than Dean.

Kirk was hilarious parading around town with his trophy & showing it off to Lorelai.

Richard is very clever, trying to get Rory to go to Yale instead of Harvard by setting her up for an interview with the dean of admissions at Yale, And Emily getting Lorelai to see that if Rory went to Yale, she'd be closer to home. The Gilmore's are good!

I didn't realise that Luke was so prtoctive of Rory until now, it was actually funny watching him barging in on her & Jess while they were upstairs in the diner, ruining that kiss for them, then laying down the law to Jess after Rory leaves. Even funnier was the second time when Jess went out to get a part for his car & Rory went home to "study", Luke not realising that it was code for meet me somewhere until Lorelai explained it to him. & then he went running out of the diner to find Jess and "stop him".

I liked the end scene with Lorelai & Rory both in their bedrooms reading Yale brochures at the same time.
  • This episode is pivotal as we get a hint that the Gilmore's have plans for Rory to go to Yale and not Harvard.

In this episode, the Richard Gilmore has secret plans and longs to have her follow in his footsteps and tricks the girls into going on a road trip.

There was a very cute moment at the diner when Rory decides to visit Jess, and she runs into a surprised Luke who is totally not expecting her to go scurring off with Jess so that they can have a private moment away from a suspicious looking uncle who quickly comes to the rescue and charges into the room with the diplomacy of a bomb squad separating the two and Rory making a quick dash away from the scene like Bambi.

Luke looks ready to explode again, and goes directly into father mode and extremely protective of Rory and knowing what he knows about Jess he also completely over-reacts but it was a nice touch and extremely unnecessary since Rory can take care of herself, thanks to Mom Lorelai.
  • Lorelai: There's a reason he wants to drag you out there Rory, he's manipulating you. Trust me, I know, he's a master at it."

    "Great"
This week's episode is co-written by series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and picks up where last week's episode left off, the morning after the dance marathon. As Lorelai and Rory limp over to Luke's they whine about how much pain they are in, they get to Luke's, whine some more and then Kirk walks in with the giant trophy. He rubs in his victory once more as he looks for a bigger table. Luke warns him not to push his luck and we hit the opening credits.

After last week's big break-up, I'm happy to see cute Dean is still in the credits.

Naturally, since this is the episode after the big break-up we have as Lorelai puts it, "Episode One of Rory and Jess: the Early Years". God help me. For Rory and Jess fans there's lots of cute little scenes to keep everyone happy – the big payoff after the big break-up. Do I sound bitter? Sorry, it's just my love for cute Dean.

Anyway, the crux of the episode deals with Lorelai's lingering issues with her father and her fears that her father will impose his domineering personality into her daughter's life. But it's really about setting up Rory at Yale so that she can still live at home and we can still enjoy watching our favorite co-dependent relationship next season.

Lorelai's fears are confirmed when her father tricks Rory into taking a meeting with the dean of admissions at Yale. Lorelai is furious by her father's manipulation, Rory is also mad but less furious than her mother, which makes Lorelai even more furious. They ditch the family road trip and get a cab back to Stars Hollow. One has to wonder why Lorelai is so furious; Yale after all does mean that Rory will be able to live at home, but dysfunctional wins out over rational.

Back in Stars Hollow, at Luke's, Rory and Jess sneak off to rendezvous in the street. They finally have their "first kiss as a couple". This is probably a very sweet moment for Jess and Rory fans, while they savor the kiss - I'm thinking how weird the kiss looks. It looks so fake, I mean of course it's fake, they are actors, but it just looks so choreographed and awkward. Maybe it's supposed to look awkward, but even in that sense it's not convincing. I know what you're thinking, "bitter Dean fan lashes out", but no; it's really not about that. Although I can't help wondering what Dean is doing right now.

Rory shares my concern and puts an end to the weird kiss and tells Jess she has to go. He protests but she tells him that her having to go makes it better. I applaud. I can't handle the weird kissing scene any longer. Next we see Rory climbing a tree to get to a window, it is Dean's window!

Cute Dean opens the window and asks Rory what she's doing there. Rory says she's really sorry for everything that has happened and that she never meant to hurt him. Dean listens while Rory goes on and on about first boyfriends, first loves and first break-ups – finally she tells him that she hopes he can forgive her. Dean says he hopes so too and then closes the window and turns his back on a stunned Rory. I start cheering, who knew that cute Dean would grow a backbone!

All in all, my favorite parts of the episode were the road trip to Yale and the interactions between the Gilmores.

    Other highlights:

    1. Luke's reaction to Rory and Jess, followed by his "laying down the law" scene with Jess.

    2. The Gilmore road trip.

    3. Emily and Richard reminiscing.

    4. Emily and Lorelai's talk after they both discover that Richard has tricked them.

    5. Rory's bracelet scene.
