When Lorelai and Rory enter Luke's diner, they see that all the tables are full. They decide to hover by tables in order to rush the occupant. Lorelai stands over a cyber-geek and Rory hovers by an old couple. In the next scene, they are pushing together the tables vacated, however, Lorelei is pushing the old couple's table and Rory is pushing the cyber-geek's table.
When Lorelai introduces Emily to Paris, Emily says that she met her at Rory's 16th birthday party, but that wasn't the last time they have met each other. The other time was when Rory had to do that business project and Emily and Richard's house. Paris was in Rory's group, therefore, they met again there. They also met at the Bracebridge Dinner.
When they meet with the girls at the gates, Richard and Emily first say that they have been going to the Yale-Harvard game for 32 years. Since they got to know each other in college, it has to be more than that. Richard later says that he's been having lunch with Pennilyn for 39 years - since the time they got married with Emily. So they must have been visiting this game for at least 39-40 years.
When Lorelai first expresses interest in attending the Harvard-Yale game, Richard and Emily get into a big discussion about who to uninvite. Where were the other guests? They had mentioned more than one person as an option, so what happened to the other ticket recipients?
When Lorelai and Jason are at the store he grabs razors because he said he needs them. Lorelai puts them back on the shelf because thats an errand and they're on a date. She then grabs toothpaste and does an errand herself implying that it is okay to do an errand on their date. Since it is okay, Jason could go back and get the razors again but doesn't. If he needs them so bad wouldn't he go back to get them?
When the Gilmores are tailgating, Emily hands Lorelai the bloody Mary and Lorelai says it has too much alcohol and places it away from her on the table. When Emily sits down she slides it back in Lorelai's direction and only adds a few drops to the drink. Lorelai drinks it and says its much better. How could a drink be not as strong when only a little bit is added to the formerly too strong drink? correction: Emily added more tomato juice without any alcohol the vodka bottle is on the food table behind the girls.
When Emily tells Lorelai that she should have dressed like Rory, Lorelai says that Rory got dressed 5 minutes before Emily and Richard showed up. The previous scene was of the two girls having breakfast at Luke's, therefore Rory would have gotten dressed at home in Stars Hollow, much more than 5 minutes ago.
When Brennan gives Kirk a napkin, he takes the coffee pot and puts his hand underneath the bottom of it. In real life, he would have burned his hand therefore the pot must not be hot defeating the purpose of having a hot drink on a cold day. However, Brennan proved himself to be a very poor server, so he could have been serving customers cold or lukewarm coffee.
When Lorelai puts on Emily's jacket, she is wearing her vest underneath. However, when they reach the 'tailgating', the vest has disappeared.
When Rory is having lunch with Richard and Paris, the amount of coke in her glass changes between shots.
Emily: Time for a toast. Lorelai: Seriously? Richard: Oh, it's a tradition. Here we go. The Rory flask. Rory: Oh. Richard: And the fun flask. Emily: Thank you. Richard: Lorelai? Lorelai: Fun flask, please.
Lorelai: Oh, wait, are you Pennilyn Lott, my dad's college sweetheart? Pennilyn Lott: Yes. Lorelai: You're my almost-mommy. Pennilyn Lott: Well, I supposed that's one way of putting it... Lorelai: I'm so glad to finally meet you. Let me ask you something - would you have let me get a pony?
Rory: Oh, my god. Lorelai: What? Rory: He hired Brennon Lewis. Lorelai: And? Rory: Ew! Lorelai: He doesn't look that bad. Rory: He's the boy who dissected a frog, did not wash his hands, and then ate a sandwich. Lorelai: Ew! Rory: He's like the lost Farrelly brother. He's so stupid. He watched 'The Breakfast Club' and decided to tape his own butt cheeks together.
Lorelai: I don't want to sit in the car and eat all by myself. It's not fun. Jason: Does everything have to be fun? Lorelai: When I'm on a date, yeah.
Lorelai: Let's not talk about me anymore. Let's talk about you. I'm worried. Luke: Why? Lorelai: Ever since you hired Brennon, the little spark has gone out of your eyes. Luke: It has? Lorelai: Yes, it has. And I am here to tell you that it is hell watching you go through this, so I think for your own sake, you should fire Froggy. Luke: Froggy? Lorelai: Uh, Brennon. Luke: You want me to fire Brennon, why? Lorelai: The spark. Remember the spark? Luke: Why do you want me to fire Brennon? Lorelai: Come back, little spark, come back. Luke: Lorelai. Lorelai: He doesn't write the orders down, he never brings you food that's hot or yours, he can't distinguish bagels from doughnuts, he hands out butt napkins, and he has worn that Foreigner t-shirt every single day since he started working here and he doesn't know who they are. I asked him. Luke: What are butt napkins? Lorelai: Kirk needed a napkin, and he pulled one out of his back pocket. Luke: Hey, Bren? Brennon: Yeah, boss? Luke: Did you give Kirk a napkin out of your back pocket? Brennon: Yeah. Luke: Don't. Brennon: Okay. Lorelai: That's it? What about all the other stuff? Luke: Look, you're just used to me. Give him time. Lorelai: Have you heard about the frog, the hands, and the sandwich? Luke: No, but I heard about the rabbi, the priest, and the duck. Lorelai: You're not taking me seriously. Luke: Hey, Bren, get Ms. Gilmore a cup of hot coffee, will ya? Give the kid a chance, all right? He's helping me out a great deal - decaf - and I have faith in him. All he needs is a little more time - black top - to learn the ropes and he'll be fine. Lorelai: Where did he go? Luke: Uh, I don't know.
Rory: Talk to me about Jason. Lorelai: There's nothing to talk about. Rory: Oh, come on. I'm in a serious romantic dry spell. I need to live vicariously through somebody. Lorelai: He has called. Rory: Okay. Lorelai: He has sent things. Rory: Pipe bombs? Lorelai: Flowers, candy. Rory: Even better.
Rory: Luke's gonna be mad. I mean, he hates it when we commandeer two tables during rush hour. Lorelai: Oh, he only hated it that one time. Rory: What time? Lorelai: The time when we did it and he was mad. Rory: He's hated it every time we've done it. Lorelai: No. Rory: Yeah. Lorelai: No, only the one time. Rory: Which time? Lorelai: The time we did it and he was mad. Rory: You're gonna do this to Luke, aren't you? Lorelai: 'Til he's so dizzy, he throws up.
Lorelai: Oh, man, this place is packed. Rory: Damn that Zagat guide. Lorelai: Only the loser mini-table is open. Rory: What do we do? Lorelai: Time to hover. You take the old couple, I'll hit the cybergeek. Rory: Got it. (walks over to an older couple eating) Hello. Lorelai: (walks over to a guy working on a laptop) Hello.
Lorelai: "Twenty-three is old. It's almost twenty-five, which is, like, almost mid-twenties." Rory: She did not say that. Lorelai: She did say that. Rory: It seems a little wrong that Jessica Simpson is alive and well and Roy got eaten by his tiger. Lorelai: Aw. Survival of the fittest, baby.
Marty: It was nice meeting you, Obi Wan. (bows to Richard) (Marty and Rory leave) Richard: I like that boy. Lorelai: Prove it, drop your pants!
French episode title: "Scène De Ménage Et Match De Foot", meaning "Domestic Dispute And Football Game".
Yanic Truesdale (Michel), and Melissa McCarthy (Sookie) do not appear in this episode.
Special musical appearance by The Whiffenpoofs.
Rory: He is so stupid, he watched The Breakfast Club and decided to tape his own butt cheeks together. In the film The Breakfast Club one of the characters is in detention for taping another guy's butt cheeks together. He describes what happened including how painful it was for that guy.
Marty: Thank you, Obi-Wan. After hearing about Richard protesting the Yale dress code by being naked for a month Marty is very impressed and makes a reference to Star Wars(1977). Obi-Wan was seen as a teacher and wise figure in the movie.
Lorelai: Do you have a samurai sword under those pom-poms, Mom, because you are going to have to Kill Bill me to get me into that jacket? This refers to the 2003 movie Kill Bill in which a woman uses her martial prowess to avenge herself.
