  • An ITV comedy that was a classic & funny to boot.

    7.5
This 1980s flatshare sitcom may have looked like a female take on the young ones but it was more slapstick than raucous, after all it was originally screened on ITV. Tracy Ullman was greatly missed during the 2nd series but Katherine Helmond (Soap's Jessica Tate) did a surprise guest appearance as Shelly's stereotypical (American in Britain) mother Goldie which compensated for Tracy's loss. The final episode when the girls take shelter in Amanda's constructed nuclear fallout bunker (this apocalypse was predicted by one of her colleagues at spare cheeks magazine) was hilairious when Jennifer kept the girls in the dark about life in the ouside world.moreless
  • Nothing like later work from French and Saunders, but still a must-have. A great addition to any dvd collection.

Girls On Top is a must have for French and Saunders fans. The characters really make the show because most of the story lines are weak. My only complaint is Ruby Wax. She overacts and ruins the character of Shelley DuPont. But Dawn French as Amanda Ripley and Jennifer Saunders as Jennifer Marsh more than make up for it. It is a great dvd set and I'd recommend it. It's not boring and predictable like most television is today.moreless
