  • Like fine wine...

    9.0
This show continues to improve with every episode. There were several laugh out loud moments, but my favorite by far was Shoshana being chased through the streets by her "Crack Spiritual Guide". Too funny.
  • The Party Episode

    9.0
Jessa, Hannah, and Marnie have an excursion to a warehouse party in Bushwick (a northern neighborhood in Brooklyn) where there are an enormous amount of people. Many familiar faces are present: Shoshanna (who is Wallflowering like non-other), Marnie knows that Charlies band is playing and decides to say hi to him. His new girlfriend Audrey interrupts their conversation and Marnie is upset because it's only been two weeks since they broke up but I'm happy to see Charlie happy and moving on from his toxic relationship with Marnie and she spends the better part of the night complaining about this turn of events. Hannah sees Adam hanging with his lesbian friends and greets him and they start dancing. One of Adam's friends Tako (with a K she insists) tells her that Adam is in AA and she never knew that before. Adam takes Hannah on a bike ride to get scrap parts for a boat trip he has planned for the fourth of july but he brakes on train tracks and she falls off and Marnie calls her and a taxi comes to retrieve Hannah after Adam and her have a confrontation about how little she knows about him and how he thinks she perceives him. Jessa's boss texts her (although she doesn't know it at the time) but she texts him to come to the party and he shows up with a bottle of wine. Jessa insults two guys and they later punch out her boss while they dance and they go to the hospital. He asks her to spend the night with him (just companionship no sex he says) but she refuses and he crossly tells her that they were never friends in the first place. Shoshanna accidentally smokes crack and gets all strung out because of it. A guy named Ray who was hitting on Jessa is handed off to take care of her while Jessa deals with her boss showing up to the party. Ray chases Shoshannah all through the streets telling her that he is her "Crack Spirit Guide." Somewhere in there she loses and pants and when naked hits him in the jewels for following her but doesn't remember that he has been tasked to help her. She offers to massage his groin (nonsexually she insists) and he says that it feels nice. Marnie talks up Elijah, Hannah's ex boyfriend who turned out to be gay, for a while about her troubles and he tells her that she is just as selfish as Hannah is. She insists that she isn't and says that his singing voice is terrible and that he's selfish for being with Hannah while knowing he was gay. He hits her and storms off. The end of the episode features Hannah smiling with Marnie and Adam all piled into the back of cab. This was certainly an interesting episode that showed us a lot about the differing relationship dynamics of the characters but at times it felt a little disjointed. Also I'm normally ok with the episodes being only 28-29 minutes long they seems to cut the Shoshanna story off with her rubbing some dude's crotch and that's one thing that should've had a resolution. Did she go home with him? Did he offer to give her his pants or find hers? What happened between them? That's my only concern with the episode is that you can't just cut a storyline off right there without a resolution (many shows do and make it work but this show doesn't continue story yarns like that into the next episode so we'll just be left to wonder in this case) or if Shoshanna and Ray have a thing now will be seen as a resolution of sorts. Her apologizing and not wanting Jessa to tell her mom about her smoking crack were the funniest parts of the episode. Good offering, and what I like most about this show is that it keeps me guessing about Adam and Hannah and whether or not they will be together or stay friends or what their relationship means anyway.moreless
  • Fair compared to the first couple of episodes

    5.0
I hope this show can return to it's earlier form. The first few episodes were very good, while the last couple have been weak.
