Ah, Sectionals still stands as my favorite episode ever, but this one was pretty good too. The songs and the drama were both okay. My respect for Emma has been enhanced enormously with how she handled Will, though I lost respect for both Finn and Rachel for the way they handled their problems. The plot thickens, I suppose. Looking forward to next episode.
  • Hard work trying to fill 'Sectionals' shoes, isn't it?

    8.5
Glee is one of my favorite shows ever, and I was really convinced that 'Sectionals' was an extremely good season finale. Saying that my expectations for the comeback were sky high, and that is probably why I wasn't over the moon with 'Hell-o'.

Very entertaining episode with certain highlights such as the funny Santana and Brittany moments and Finn's realization of his love for Rachel.

For the more romantic viewer there were some pearls like the scene with Rachel and Jesse St. James, singing Hello by Lionel Richie.

For the John Lennon's fans we were presented once again with a spectacular rendition of one of his songs (keep it coming).

A good beginning of 2nd part, even if a bit weak comparing to the last episode.

Nevertheless there is never a bad episode of Glee in my opinion (as I am a great suck up for musicals).moreless
  • Rachel and Jesse make sweet sweet music together...

    10
    Relationship Aspects:

Up to this point I liked Finn and Rachel, not anymore. It's not because I think that Jesse is a better fit for Rachel, but that Finn doesn't even know what he wants yet he's too wishy washy, last season he really liked Rachel and wanted to date her to some degree, but then he broke up with her, then he wanted to be with her again... He has to figure out what he wants before he starts telling Rachel he won't give up until he gets her. This is where Jesse comes into the picture. Jesse is Rachel's soulmate. I just know it. Though his motives seem to be a bit precarious, they truly are perfect with each other. Song Aspect:

I am a total Gleek, so of course i loved the songs! It's a mix of old and new and i think it was the cherry on top of a great episode.moreless
  • It really was Hell

    1.0
honestly? the only saving grace of this episode were Finns wardrobe and Brittany. it was a mess and while I liked some points that were introduced - the resons Emma broke up with Will and the reasons for Finn not wanting to be with Rachel, the rest was just terrible on various levels. for the first time evr it hurt me phisically to listen to the songs. I didnt enjoy a single performance. and while Sue was back with a bang, the rest was just mediocre at best. I mean Finn pining over Quinn? really? and Will essentailly cheating on both his wife and his girlfriend? and the introduction of Jesse St. James is just lazy writing in my book. of course it creates conflict. but it just brings in another problem without solving any other that were already introduced. and honestly - the character isnt interesting enough to really validate such a drama. for a star of their biggest rival he aint really that much of a singer. or a looker. he is Rachel with a Y chromosome and lower IQ. and while I may look forward to Finn fighting for Rachel, right now its pretty much the only positive thing I can see in the future. Im not saying the show will be bad. Im just saying that instead of coming back with a bang the show returned without all the thing that made me love it in the first place.moreless
  • 45 minutes of excruciating.....BORING

    4.0
Sorry to say this about a show we all really love right now...but this come back really just didn't live up to standards. And by that, I mean even by standards of its storylines and show. The first 10 minutes began as a rehash of last seasons storyline, the rest just dangled on aimlessly to fulfill a song at the end. Maybe that's the problem, we've all come to expect too high a standard, and this show might not be able to live up to it. Just look at what has happened to Heroes. All the same, we have a new season, so let the entertainment begin.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • In the library, just before Rachel picks up "Hello" by Lionel Ritchie, she looks over the sheet music for "Hello Again" from "The Jazz Singer", which is featured later in the episode.

    • Continuity/Goofs: When Terri sees Emma's DVD of The Jazz Singer, Emma comments that she got it because she and Will made "Hello" their song, and Terri retorts that she and Will made it their song way back at their prom. "Hello" is actually the song by Lionel Richie sung by Rachel and Jesse at school; the Neil Diamond song from The Jazz Singer that Will and Emma danced to is "Hello Again".

During the beginning of Rachel's rendition of "Gives You Hell", both Brittany and Santana can be seen resting their chins in their fists. In the very next cut, however, they have their arms on their laps.

When Finn is staring over Rachel's head at Quinn arguing with Puck, Quinn switches back and forth from leaning back against the wall looking at Finn to having her hand on the side wall leaning toward Puck.

In a scene where Rachel is singing "Gives you Hell", she standing on a chair and everyone is around her, in scenes after that, Puck switches from the left side, to the right side, to the left again, with no time skips.

    • Music featured in this episode
"Hello, I Love You" by The Doors
"Gives You Hell" by All American Rejects
      "Hello" by Lionel Richie
      "Hello Again" by Neil Diamond
      "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC
      "Hello, Goodbye" by The Beatles

  • QUOTES (21)

    • Terri: (to Emma) Don't bother sleeping with my husband tonight. You're already screwed.

    • Sue: (after cutting a student's ponytail) There. You no longer confuse me with your she-male looks. I'm going to donate this to the victims of hurricane Katrina. They can use it to plug the holes in their trailers.

    • Sue: I'm engorged with venom and triumph.

    • Will: What do you guys say when you answer the phone?
      Mercedes: What up?
      Artie: Who this be?
Kurt: No, she's dead, this is her son.

    • Emma: I just haven't been, uh... intimate in a very, very long time.
      Will: How long?
Emma: Ever. I just haven't found the right person. You know, someone who won't reject me when things get really hard with my, um, with my problems.

    • Will: We should go on a date.
      Emma: Okay.
Will: Get to know each other as these... new people, not tied down by anyone. My place. I'll cook.
Emma: I didn't know you could cook.
Will: There are so many things you don't know about me. And I can't wait to introduce them all to you.

    • Sue: Now that I'm back and my position is secured, I will not stop until you are fired, and your little glee club is annihilated into oblivion.
      Will: Bring it.
Sue: Oh, I will bring it, William. You know what else I'm gonna bring? I'm going to bring some Asian cookery to rub your head with. 'cause right now you got enough product in your hair to season a wok.

    • Finn: (Voiceover, talking about Rachel) Now that we're sort of dating, I have to work so much harder to pretend to be listening to her.

    • Sue: (to Will) Hey, buddy, you get a haircut? Looks awful.

    • Mercedes: (To Rachel about Jesse) We're not saying that he's playing you...
      Kurt: He's playing you.

    • Ms. Corcoran: I want a look so optimistic it could cure cancer.

    • Brittany: Finn didn't fall for any of our tricks
      Sue: Such as?
Brittany: I didn't wear a bra and I had them turn off the air conditioning.
Sue: Ladies, I misjudged you. You may be two of the stupidest teens I've ever encountered and that's saying something. I once taught a cheerleading seminar to a young Sarah Palin.

    • Finn: Do you guys mind including me in your conversations?
Santana: Let us give you an introduction into the way we work. You buy us dinner and we make out in front of you. It's like the best deal ever.

    • Santana: Alright hottest guys in the school, go.
Brittany: Ok, um, Puck's super fine. Finn's cute too.
Santana: Yeah but he's not hot though.
      Brittany: He really isn't..
Santana: And you know what Brit? I think that dwarf girlfriend of his is dragging down his rep. Like say he was dating popular pretty girls like us, he would go from dumpy to smokin'.
Finn: Hello, hey! I'm right here.

    • Jesse: I like to give impromptu concerts for the homeless. It's so important to give back.

    • Jesse: I'm getting out of Ohio soon. I've got a full ride to a little school called University of California Los Angeles. Maybe you've heard of it, it's in Los Angeles.

    • Will: Guys! I don't want to be a buzz kill but the assignment was Hello.
Rachel: I'm sorry, I was just focusing on the first syllable.

    • Ms. Corcoran: Are you gay? Because most of the show choir directors I make out with are gay.

    • Will: I want you to meet the new and improved Finn Hudson, by singing about it.
Finn: Oh, that's why the band's here.

    • Santana: Brit and I told everybody in glee club about Jessie St James. They're furious.
Brittany: If Rachel falls for him, the club will self-destruct.
Sue: Outstanding. On to step two. Round up a bunch of mustach e-sporting teenage girls with gandular conditions. Anything else?
Brittany: Sometimes I forget my middle name.

    • Brittany: Did you know dolphins are just gay sharks?
