Rachel is seen looking at her pictures in the 2008 yearbook however she says in the pilot episode that she's a sophomore when she's talking to Mr. Shuester on the bleachers. She would've still been in middle school during the 2008 school year.
Since she started High School in 2008, and the yearbook photos are taken in the first semester (at least in this episode, as it aired in December of 2009) she would be a Freshman in 2008/2009 and would get her picture taken in 2008.
Goofs: • Matthew Morrison's mark (red x) is clearly visible between his feet when he drops the mattress on the floor in his office. • In the glee club photo caption, Puck's first name is given as "Nathan", when it's actually "Noah." • The word "counselor" is misspelled (omitting the O) in this edition of the Thunderclap.
Music featured in this episode:
• "Smile" by Lily Allen.
• "Jump" by Van Halen.
• "Smile" by Charlie Chaplin.
Finn: (to Rachel about missing their photo for the yearbook) Look, I'm sorry. The guys were harassing me in the locker room about it. They said that if I took the Glee Club photo, they'd make me choose between a Hitler mustache or buckteeth, and I can't rock either of those looks. (Sits next to Quinn. Touches his head, remembering the name calling) Do you think I have a potato head?
Emma: When I first heard about what Terri had done, oh, gosh, no I thought there should be some sort of law. But then when I thought about it some more, I thought about what I would've done if I'd felt you slipping away...
Will: You would never be that cruel.
Emma: No, her methods were wrong, but, um, I totally understand her intentions. You're a lot to lose, Will.
Rachel: Brittany, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Brittany: No way.
Rachel: Why not?
Brittany: Because I don't want to be in a picture with you. It will get defaced.
Rachel: No, it won't.
Brittany: Yes, it will. I'll be the one doing it.
Sue: (to Will) Have you and the redhead become so sexually deprived that you have to commit your craven acts of adultery between classes?
Sue: (to Will) You're too busy chasing tail and loading your hair with enormous amounts of product. Today, it just looks like you put lard in it.
Will: I should be allowed to feel good about myself.
Terri: This marriage works because you don't feel good about yourself!
Rachel: Aside from nudity and the exploitation of animals, I'll pretty much do anything to break into the business.
Emma: (to Sue) Oh my gosh, Sue, did somebody finally punch you?
Sue: Edie. William. (to Ken) You. Every year, when the photos for the thunderclap come around, I always elect to have a little work done. This year, I got myself a bit of an eye lift. And while they were in there, I told them to go ahead and yank out those tear ducts. Wasn't using them.
Sue: (to Quinn) You know Q, I've forgotten just how ruthless you are. You're like a young Sue Sylvester. Now get out of my office if you can manage to squeeze through the door without your water breaking all over my new carpet.
