well this was the first episode of glee I watch well it was a long time ago and there was nothing to watch and i sort of watch parts of this episode and i didn't start watching glee intill 2011 start. well in this episode it keeps bring up Beyoce's song Single ladies(put a ring on) and it's a good song. anyway that guy Kurt tries to be on the football team to impress his father and them later Kurt learns that he is gay and his father knew all long I think Kurt and Burt have a good father-son relationship I wish me and dad had it the same way
  • Kurt joins the football team; Quinn delivers some shocking news to Finn; Rachel loses the spotlight; and Sue keeps trying to ruin the Glee Club. Oh yeah, and a bunch of burly athletes do the 'Single Ladies' dance by Beyoncé... no, seriously. They do.

Ouch! 'Glee' really dipped into fantasy land last night. The storyline was bonkers:

Kurt joined the football team. Any normal football team would TORTURE a guy as flamboyant as him -- but no! Kurt summons all the leg strength of a football pro and boots 'er into the sunrise. All while accompanied by the sound of his stereo blaring 'Single Ladies' by Beyoncé.

Quinn is pregnant! And Finn isn't the father -- it's actually Puck's child. But Finn believes that prematurely ejaculating in a hot tub could impregnate his girlfriend. He ACTUALLY believes this. He must create super sperm!

Expectant father Finn needs a football scholarship. The best way to do this? Have Kurt teach the team the 'Single Ladies' dance. And they all do it, after minimal grumbling. They even perform in front of the entire school, and win their match.

Last night's episode was so ridiculous and unrealistic! 'Glee' has one foot firmly set in reality, and just tears its own storylines to pieces by making the deliverance ridiculous.

I believe in creative license, but I REALLY hope the show stops being so unbelievable. And they overplayed 'Single Ladies' too. I think it was in five different scenes!

To be honest, it would have been extremely funny to watch a football team do the 'Single Ladies' dance -- if it had been a dream sequence or something. Making it real really watered down the actual content of the storyline.

Sorry, 'Glee'! I hope I enjoy next week's episode a lot more.

Kurt joins the football team just to impress his father. Finn and Quinn's relationship get a shocking development. Rachel thinks her star is fading when Tina is given a better part during rehearsals which causes her to leave. Sue continues her schemes to dismantle the glee club. I loved this episode, the whole storyline was awesome in my opinion! I love Kurt, I love the scenes all to do with the football game and try outs. I love the way Finn believe in him. I also love the storyline between Finn and his girlfriend her being pregnant, who she says she is the farther but it is his best friend - awesome storyline. And then Will's spouse Terri goes to she Finn's girlfriend due to the fact that she needs a baby sometime soon. I'm really looking forward to the next episode, all the storylines are getting even better, I love it. I also love Rachel's storyline, I find it very interesting! Bring on tonights episode.

Theres so much happening in this episode. Some of it might be dumb and cheesy like Finn actually believing Quinn got pregnant from the bath tub but there was so much going on that none of the very limited flaws were noticed. The dialogue was hilarious, principal Figgin's video...OMG ! Everything from the shocking Quinn being pregnant with Puck's baby to Rachel leaving the Glee club for a play that's part of Sue's plan to destroy the club, to Kurt's " I'm gay daddy don't be mad " issues set to Beyonce's music, were explosively funny and entertaining. I loved this episode !!
  • Best. Episode. EVER.

Best opening ever, Kurt rules in this episode! I'm never going to be able to hear single ladies again without seeing the football guys doing the dance! I actual love this episode, Glee is the best thing on TV right now, and 2nd in my all-time favourite list (after Friends of course).

It's just such a great show you can't help but love it. Yes it cheesy, but who cares? It makes you feel happy and want to join Glee club (maybe that's just me...)

This episode is everything Glee is about! It's fricking amazing. Best episode in the history of good episodes! :)
  • "Preggers" is the fourth episode of the American television series Glee. The episode premiered on the Fox network on September 23, 2009.

Glee club member Kurt Hummel is caught dancing to Beyonce Knowles' "Single Ladies" by his father, and claims that it is a football exercise, and that he is now part of the team. Fellow glee club member and football quarterback Finn Hudson helps Kurt to practice, convincing coach Ken Tanaka (Patrick Gallagher) to let Kurt try out for the team. Kurt is successful, and becomes the team kicker. When Finn's girlfriend Quinn tells him she is pregnant, Finn worries that his future prospects will be diminished by fatherhood. He asks glee club director Will Schuester to coach the football team at dancing, believing it will help them to improve, increasing his chances of securing a football scholarship. Finn confides Quinn's news to his best friend Puck, who later confronts Quinn, claiming to be the baby's father. Will's wife Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig) reveals to her sister Kendra (Jennifer Aspen) that she experienced a hysterical pregnancy and is not really carrying Will's baby. Kendra suggests that they acquire a baby, and when Terri learns of Quinn's pregnancy from Will, she confronts her to discuss her pre-natal care.

Cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester approaches former glee club director Sandy Ryerson and enlists him in her plan to sabotage the club. She blackmails Principal Figgins (Iqbal Theba) into appointing Sandy as the school's new Arts director, and together they hold auditions for a school musical, hoping to entice away the glee club's star, Rachel Berry. Rachel feels slighted when Will awards Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) a solo song, so auditions for the musical and is given the lead role. When Will refuses to reassign the solo song to Rachel, she quits the club. The football team put their dance training into practice by performing the "Single Ladies" routine in the middle of a game, and with Kurt's help are able to win. Buoyed on by his success, Kurt comes out to his father, who tells him he loves him just the same.
  • Kurt joins the football with a shocking addition to their work-out regimen. We found out news about Quinn, and surprise, surprise - Rachel is annoying.

This episode was hands down the best episode since the pilot for me. I just feel like it got everything right - from the great one-liner "Hi, I'm Kurt Hummel - I'll be auditioning for the role of kicker," to the tear-jerking confession he makes to his father at the end. It was superb. Of course, the football team dancing to "Single Ladies" was a little campy, but what else are we watching this show for? I think it set a great precedent for the rest of the show, and not to mention, it had Beyonce's song stuck in my head for the next week.
  • All the single ladies...

How can you fault an episode that starts off with the most awesome scene with Kurt?

I mean this whole programme feels like it's taking bits out of pop culture and putting it together in a Highschool drama and I'm sure some people really do not like that but I like how everything is so funny and put together perfectly!

I like how every episode kind of focuses on another character and we get to see a different one everytime!

Her sister drives me crazy. I feel sooo Sorry for teacher dude!

Kurt drives me crazy. I absolutely adore him. The whole episode is just Kurt eccentric.

And Pregnant cheerleader - oh the cliches. It's full of cliches - the hot tub scene - VERY cringe worthy I have to admit!!
  • Please explain the role of cheerleaders.

    8.0
    "Great"
Here in Australia cheerleaders aren't really a part of high school, so I may be wrong in my understanding of their role, but aren't they supposed to be cheering-on the sports team they are associated with, in this case the football team? Aren't they supposed to get the crowd riled up and excited, so that the crowd pushes the team to succeed and hopefully win?

If a school didn't have a football team or basketball team or baseball team, would there actually be cheerleaders in the school?

If my assumptions are correct, as the football team in this case, is extremely poor, doesn't that mean that the cheerleading team is also a failure, despite their having won regional championships in the past, as they are failing in their primary job within the school?

Now given that the Glee Club managed to do what the cheerleaders weren't able, inspire the football team to win, shouldn't it therefore lead to the pecking-order hierarchy turned on its head. The cheerleaders, who are winners outside the school are failures within the school, and the glee club who have no standing outside the school, stepped in and succeed where the cheerleaders failed, and inspired, push, helped the football team to finally win.

As a consequence, I would expect there to be a community backlash against Sue and the way she runs things, and indeed against the principal for his lack of significant funding for the Glee club.

I hope the writers address this, as I could never understand cheerleaders being shown as more important than the sport they are supposed to be cheering, rather than an enhancement to it.
  • Kurt needs help impressing his father and in turn helps the football team. Sue and Sandy use Rachel to help take down the Glee Club. Quinn gives Finn some surprising and questionable news, that could be valuable to Terri.

    9.0
    "Superb"
This episode started with yet another parody of Beyonce's Single Ladies, this one though was made better with Kurt's glittery leotard and tie and of course his dad's reaction. Kurt was now faced with the lie he told his father regarding his status on the football team and needed to recruit Finn's help. Finn's help leads the two to discover that by playing the now infamous song that Kurt can kick a great field goal, something the team has been lacking.

We also learned that Sue has gotten a second job as the host of her own segment on the local news, where she talks about caning our children and why littering is not such a bad thing. The segment is a success but her producer informs her that she must win nationals in order to keep the job and to do this she must take down the Glee Club. So she recruits Sandy and blackmails Principal Figgins and then decides to steal Rachel away from Will believing that she is the linchpin in the club. Her blackmail of Figgins was great, discovering he once did some instructional videos for and Indian airline, it was made better when Will asked his boss what it was that Sue had on him. This also lead to Rachel belting out Celine Dion for her audition piece.

Quinn reveals some startling news to Finn who is still feeling good about getting Kurt on the team, and hoping it will make his life easier in both of his after school activities. Quinn informs him that she is pregnant and it is his, which for those of us who have been watching know that she is the President of the Celibacy Club. She informs Finn that when they were in the hot tub and he had an accident that was what ended up getting her pregnant. Finn, not wanting to be like the other guys in who town who had babies in High School turns to his one chance of getting a football scholarship, dance. He learns from the Walter Payton autobiography he borrowed from the library; his little comment about being able to actually do that was great, that the football team was too uptight and that with Will's help they could get the team to start winning. The next shocker in this tale was that it was really Puck's child, he slept with his boy's girl. The next was that Terri has begun what to me seems like a baby buying plan for Quinn and Puck's baby. When Finn tells Puck about Quinn's condition he is puzzled since when he slept with Quinn she told him she was a virgin. Puck is angry because he is not a deadbeat like his father and with his pool cleaning business and that mess where he urinated in the deep fryer behind him, he is ready to step up and take responsibility.

On game night the team was having second thoughts about using dance as a winning strategy, and this lead to them not scoring for nearly four quarters. With just one second to go, Finn convinced the team it was time to put a ring on it, and he called the play and the music started, and then they danced. The dancing was probably a violation of delay of game but this is Glee, so there was no flag. It worked, Finn threw a touchdown pass to Puck, and then they brought in Kurt, who after some inspiring words from Ken and Beyonce was able to win the game for McKinley. With their big win Finn and Quinn embraced leaving Puck alone and hurt, there is a lot more to this guy then we see on the surface.

Later that night as Kurt was doing his nightly beauty ritual when his dad walked in and said that he played great and if only his mom could have been there. This is when Kurt admitted that he is gay and his father said that he has known since Kurt was three and asked for a sensible pair of heels for his birthday.

The next day Finn gave Quinn his baby blanket and Puck and two other players joined Glee Club, but when Mr. Schuster gave Tina Rachel's solo she left to join Sandy in the school's musical. The episode ended with some words of inspiration from Sue, where she preached that the secret to her success was to break out of your comfort zone, and even if they aren't cheering for you if you think they are they will be one day.

This was great installment and as we dig deeper into the character's stories it gets more and more hilarious. The addition of new kids to the Glee Club and Sue's narrative was a good touch. Glee keeps getting better and hopefully the hits will keep coming.

Glee springs back from its flat 3rd episode and thankfully begins exploring other characters, as well as keeping our main glee group somewhat in the limelight. Although not as much as Rachel would like.

It's Kurt's episode, and after some awkward scenes last episode, the cat is out of the bag and he becomes a fully-formed character, not just a backup singer. The opening bit was hysterical – in fact, every segment involving Beyonce's Single Ladies was just absurdly hilarious. What a visual –a group of American Football players putting a ring on it. Priceless.

Quinn's little confession immediately put any future plans for Finn on hold. While the hot-tub scene was hysterical ('think of the mail! THE MAIL!') I saw the twist a mile away. While predictable, it will no doubt provide for some interesting throw downs later on in the season. I really liked how everything just kind of faded out when Quinn told him about the pregnancy; while not exactly under the same circumstances, I've been in that can't hear anything state, it was nicely realized.

Sue is such a fantastic character. I'd watch her on my local news channel every single day. She really is up there with the best of the bitca characters, ala Karen Walker, only this one is far more venomous and really hits you where it hurts. Jane Lynch chews up the scenery! _

I really enjoyed having Tina get the solo…but, I mean, she has had about 10 minutes screen-time since the pilot. Can we have a Tina-centric episode so I can decide whether or not to like her? =P As of right now I'm indifferent, mainly cos there's no real character to give a rats behind about.

I'm still not interested in Will's wife's whole deal. I still don't get what Will sees her in besides a pretty view. She's practically Gina from Nip/Tuck sans sex addiction and excessive use of the word '@ss-hole' =P Again, she either has to go or else warrant air-time. She's only there to provide an obstacle between Will and Jayma Mays, and that's just wrong. I mean, it's JAYMA MAYS!

All in all, this is another impressive offering from the show. Some great tunes, some interesting, if overly familiar plot threads, and good acting by all, makes Preggers one to watch. **Alll mah single ladies, all mah single ladies.** I hate you, Ryan =P
  • Some neat ideas, but also some interesting um, developments...

    7.5
    "Good"
Glee still hasn't hit me with anything as good as it's first 2 episodes, but perhaps it's unfair of me to expect excellence every single episode. What I got tonight is along the lines of what I excepted from Glee in the first place, and Preggers is a noted improvement over last week's embarrassing outing. Will and his wife continue to prepare for the non-baby, but the pregnancy coach puts a crazy idea in Terri's head- we conclude where she's going after Quinn reveals to Finn that she is pregnant. her explanation in the jacuzzi is hilarious- plus we get a call back to the funny bike accident stuff. But this is a little soap opera-y for my taste (the baby is really Finn's best friend's, and Will's wife is getting ready to 'steal' it). Thankfully, it's playing out in an interesting way. Kurt is really the star of this episode, as he gets to play kicker for the football team. This is all a set up to come out to his father- redundant from last week- but at least this developed in a better way. Besides, seeing an entire football team dance to Beyonce...guys, I never laugh at stupid sh*t like this, but that was DAMN FUNNY!

Jane Lynch is on TV now, which makes no sense, but it's fun cause she's awesome. Tobolowsky is back at the school, and they are playing at getting their hands on Rachel, who is bothered by not getting to sing Maria for West Side Story. I love that our hero can still be a bit self-centered and arrogant when it comes to her talents. It makes her very real. Overall, a nice episode, but I have to be hard on it, because I know how good they can be.
  • Another great one here.

Though 'Showmance' stills remains my favourite episode this one was really good. I liked Kurt being used a lot again and the whole Single Ladies dance moves throughout the episode was hilarious. Plus I enjoyed his coming out scene to his father, it wasn't a huge deal. Quite refreshing. I also love Sue the gym teacher, she is such a funny character.

The whole news segment was genius and her one liners are perfect. Will's wife is still very mental...I can't believe she's still lying about the baby. The Quinn/Finn pregnancy storyline was interesting...especially how it turned out to be the friends and Will's wife seems to want it...crazy stuff.

What I didn't like was the lack of Rachel..she appeared in a few scenes but came across a bit whiney. I liked the other girl Tina singing the solo, I wonder how Will react to Rachel quitting Glee. I doubt it'll be for long. Looking forward to more.
  • Kurt wants to please his dad. Rachel wants to be the star. Quinn's pregnant with Puck's baby even though she's dating Finn. i don't do summaries.

So far 'GLEE' was a huge letdown with not-so-good episodes. But last night's episode was ALOT better. Kinda getting tired with Jessalyn Gilsig's character, but oh well. Usually it takes a new show a couple of episodes to find its legs & I think 'GLEE' is finally finding its legs. I just hope that 'GLEE' won't just prolong story lines like they do with most new shows, but I guess i'll just have to wait & see. I also hope that next weeks episode won't be such a let down like 'Showmance' was. I mean seriously, 'Showmance' sucked. Totally sucked.
  • Best episode yet!

Okay, you guys, I'm pretty sure that this is the best episode so far (maybe tied with the second). I sincerely appreciated it..

I loved how Kurt came out to his father, and his father was nice about it. I was afraid he was going to be a jackass about it, but it was a really sweeet moment. Also, I loved how the football team did the single ladies dance on the field, and then later kurt doing the same thing.

I also like the whole Quinn-trying-to-make-Finn-believe-he's-the-father-of-her-child storyline. I love how he thinks she could get pregnant that way she told him he did. I wonder what's going to happen...

Hm... what I don't know if I like is Rachel becoming kind of a "bad guy" (i put it in quotations because she's only kind of becoming one) and quitting Glee Club, and joining the musical, because Mr. Schuester isn't letting her get her way. It kind of made her look like an unlikable spoiled brat. But I LOVE Lea Michelle, especially as the original Wendla Bergmann in Spring Awakening.

Will definitely keep watching. One of my new favorite shows. (I also love The Vampire Diaries and I'm into the One Tree Hill season premiere. Miss Leyton tho. :( ). TTY Nexta Week!

GLEE! takes it to a new level in each episode and this is no exception. The two-episode arch of Kurt's personal struggle with coming to terms with his sexuality is beautifully completed in this episode. The subject is handled tenderly by the writers and producers and could draw a tear from viewers who have a personal experience in this area. We could all pray that parents of gay children could be so accepting, Kurt's dad brings a sweet understanding to the "coming out" moment through a genuine expression of unconditional love. I loved how the writers let it be okay that the dad doesn't understand the physics or reason for homosexuality, but his love and acceptance of his son is truly inspiring.

All I can say is this season is getting good. I've been bugged by several friends to watch this show and finally started last week. This episode brings me even closer to squealing in delight. Not only is the music great but throw in a dancing football team, a devious pregnant cheerleader, and a wife who wants a kid just to keep her man around and you have an explosive episode! I love how this show makes me laugh but this episode was GREAT! One thing did upset me, the 'i love you no matter what' sentiment of Kurt's father. While thats great and I wish it really happened like that most of the time, unfortunetly thats usually not how it goes. I'm glad Kurt said something, and it was easy to tell his father had known for awhile. However, I really wanted them to be more realistic with that aspect and give it a few episodes before his father just humbly accepts his being gay All in all though...this is my favorite episode so far.
  • More proof that bringing Glee along for a full season pick-up is a good idea.

    8.9
    "Great"
Since Glee is the first show this season to get picked up for a full 22 episodes, I feel compelled to stick with the show through its first season, especially because of the promise it shows in certain parts. Glee has its ups and downs, it's smart moments with quirky lines and also its awful cliche melodramatic moments, but for the most part, it all balances out and ends up being just pure entertainment.

This was one of the better episodes so far. Full of twists, turns and Kurt kicking field goals to the tune of Beyonce's Single Ladies song. Probably the funnest episode to date. They didn't over-do it with the songs and lame conversations lined with life lessons.. instead, they took the Single Ladies song and used it in many different situations.

I'm still not ENTIRELY convinced by the show.. but then again, I've never been a huge fan of musicals. But for a television show about musicals that ISN'T High School Musical, this show is getting more entertaining every episode. I just want to see a little bit more originality.. something that we wouldn't expect in a show about high school. Jane Lynch is the only person who seems to be a little different from these stereotypes.

Either way, with the double pregnancy storylines, with one baby real and the other one not, and the slow blending of football and Glee Club, I see plenty of tension in the near future.
  • Sue Sylvester gets her own spot on the evening TV news. She also gets Sandy Ryerson a job as Will's boss in the Arts Department. Quinn and Finn have a major crisis. Kurt goes out for football and becomes the teams kicker. The team wins its first game!

    9.5
    "Superb"
Another improvement over the last few weeks. Not enough performance pieces for me in this episode but I think that will come as some of the details of the story get worked out. ***** Some Spoilers Included *****

You had to love Kurt and the whole football team story. Also I think it was one of the most touching moments of the show so far when he confessed to his Dad and he said that he already knew! His Dad really comes through for him in a big way.

Sue is still up to her clever ways in trying to stop the Glee Club. Hiring Ryerson wasn't the point though. It was getting Rachel to quit Glee by using Ryerson to give her something she really wants. I agree with Will to a point in his thinking, but also I think he is getting a little pig headed about things.

The situation with Quinn and Finn is really disastrous. What Quinn is doing to Finn is downright criminal. Obviously the father is Puck, but she has ideas and wants Finn as he looks like the better provider long term. Terri is a little scary! Does she really think she'll be able to hide her pregnancy to term and then switch a baby into place? Too weird!?!

Enjoyable episode with Put a Ring on It as the focal number along with West Side Story and Cabaret. I would like to have seen another production number in there as that is what makes this show really different. The football game almost made up for that though. It's getting good. No reason it can't maintain this level! Thanks for reading...
  • If you like it then you should have put a ring on it. W-O-W! This is the episode to watch for all the best reasons and more. I couldn't have asked for more.

    "Perfect"
Since Glee began there have been plenty of things/elements/plots/characters that I have liked. The shows blatant stereotyped characters who just underneath the surface are anything but their stereotypes. The musicals element is so special and personal favorite of mine considering my long time love of musicals. Rachel/Finn are already fantastic and I can not describe how much I've loved Kurt since the beginning, even more so since Accafellas.

But if Accafellas made me love him more this episode made him my hands down favorite character. I can not describe how adorable that opening scene was, can't imagine how fun that must have been to film. Not to mention the following scenes with the football team. I loved that Kurt reached them. I think of the best elements of his character so far is that he's more himself then anyone else on the show (probably in real life) but in a lot of ways until this episode he wasn't totally out. This episode was the perfect coming out story. Not only did he make peace with his father, that scene made me tear up completely because honestly his dad seemed like the type who might...react badly, but on some way he managed to get an entire of straight football players to dance in front of the entire school to a Beyonce song. I was screaming, whooping and laughing tears I loved that scene so much.

Putting Kurt on the football team is genius too, though to be honest I probably would have bet money something along those lines would happen. Still it didn't make it any less surprising or impressive. Especially because he did it in true Kurt fashion, being nothing but himself. Did I mention I love him? He's the character I feel like I've been waiting for from this show. All himself, all original and despite the fact that he has as many fears and insecurities as the rest of the group and he's just as young as they all are he doesn't let that stop him. Perfect example of what I think the show has the potential to be.

They set up all these stereotypes intentionally for the specific reason of knocking them down, I wish this show has been around when I was in high school. But getting back to this episode itself. I love the fact that they aren't making the whole series the Rachel/Finn show, the supporting cast are actually part of the cast.

As for the rest of the episode Quinn and Finn's best friend...something (I can't remember) are even bigger of a witchs with a B then I thought. But to be totally fair now she's an expectant mother which is heavy, especially for a kid reguardless of whatever nasty qualities she might have. Then again as I said about last weeks episode Will's wife is a late model Quinn so she'll take care of that.

Back to Quinn and Finn's supposed best friend I am so pleased to see them get what's coming to them but as much as I want to see them get blasted and the truth outed we can't expect them to be true villains in the strictest sense. Kids are kids, they can be awful and wicked and be the worst kind of people but at the end of the day it's not as though they're rapists or serial killers. There's a fine line between karma for nasty brats and the punishment for a true villain, like say Sue. The Glee kids are anything but what the popular kids see them as so wouldn't it follow that in some cases the popular kids might fall into that category, somewhat at least. I mean look at Finn, he's really getting there. And though there's some lost causes like Quinn and Finn's best friend this baby story may be the kick in the pants that's going to shot gun their story into something more. I love how the show is developing the whole cast of characters. They're really starting strong this season.
