Episode Summary

The long road to Sectionals is almost over, but not before a lot of bumps in the road. The mid-season break brings a lot of surprises and awesome performances. Regionals are at stake and things will get crazy before anyone can get there.

  • Blew Me Away

Wonderful episode! Had a lot of resolved drama, in addition to wonderful musical performances and lovely acting from the entire cast. My feelings pretty much erupted while watching this episode. Sure, plot lines were resolved - maybe a bit too early - but I'm sure the writers will pull something up that is equally amazing. Can't wait to see what happens next.
  • Loved Lea Michele's solo!

This has got to be Rachel's best performance yet. I thought that was the highlight of the episode. Everything else was the usual drama with the baby daddy reveal, and Silvester/Scheuster feud. There was a lot jammed into this episode and I'm not entirely comfortable with the fact that just about everything was resolved especially the situation with Will and Emma. Everything that we wanted to happen happened so the question is what's in store for the second season? Sue's character may be too hilarious to get rid of after season one so perhaps a revenge plot lurks in the future? I speculate that she'll move on to one of the other competing schools that will be at regionals. Just a guess.moreless
  • Sectionals are finally here, unfortunately Mr. Schuester can't be there and Emma takes his place. Rachel tells Finn the big secret. Sue has rigged the finals. Finally everything seems to be in an uproar as the group is not in sync with each other.moreless

So as we get ready to leave William McKinley High School Glee Club for a short hiatus everything seems to be unraveling.

Finn punches out Puck after finding out about Quinn and now he won't speak to or perform with anyone in Glee. Rachel was the one who spilled the beans. It seems Will's marriage is over just as Emma is getting married. Sue is gloating in her seemed triumph over everything Glee. Then when the Club gets to sectionals their whole set is recreated by the other two choirs performing before them.

Believe it or not I really haven't given that much away and you'll have to see this episode for yourself. The music is wonderful in this episode. Especially Lee Michele's(Rachel) performance of "Don't Rain on my Parade" which was a show stopper. The ending really sets up a confrontation of epic proportions for next Spring. Also we'll be able to look forward to some new relationships and how they develop.

All in all a fun and witty episode of Glee doing a really good job of setting up the hiatus and leaving us wanting more Glee this Spring. I for one can't wait! Thanks for reading...moreless

  • Just... Wow!

I was so excited to watch this episode since I saw the preview. I'm 32 and I just can't believe I am so hooked on this show, but I have to say that this show has magic, great chemistry among the cast and well, superb performances (when it comes to singing of course).

First, I was impressed by Lea's solo in the competition. I didn't know what song was, but I knew it was from one of those old movies and I wasn't wrong. Her performance tops any experienced singer's and well, she was able to fill the stage and that is what a true star can do.

I was glad that Finn found out the truth. Diana doesn't really convince me. I really like her voice but she needs to improve her acting. I'm glad Will decided to take the next step and try to move on with this life, I just hope everything works out for him. Seeing him so proud of the Club was nice.

If Jane Lynch doesn't win an Emmy this year, we will have to create an award specially for her. She's so damn good you get to hate her, I know I do. And whoever writes her lines deserves a 10.

Looks like everything was addressed this half season, I just hope next half the show keeps the magic it has and make Thursdays the day for me.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • When she is accused by Will, Sue says that the accusation is a "libelous statement". The correct term would be that it is a "slanderous statement". Libel is written, slander is spoken.

This could have been an intentional mistake because later in the episode Bad Reputation, Sue says "as soon as I figure out the difference between slander and libel I'm filing a lawsuit..."

    • Continuity/Goofs:
      • Shortly after Rachel moves to the stage while performing "Don't Rain On My Parade", a bandage can be seen on the side of her right leg, just below the knee. In the very next shot a few seconds later, the bandage is gone.
      • Toward the end of Rachel's solo at sectionals, the rest of the group comes on stage. In the close-up, you can clearly see Finn and Puck cross paths and stop behind her. Then, in the wide shot, the boys are still walking by Rachel at the front of the stage.
      • The club asks for Will's help in setting the set list for sectionals and Will says he can't help them. However, the set list is already in place, as Sue has leaked it to the other two teams.
      • When Emma confronts the directors of the rival glee clubs, she wonders if the deaf students will sing "Don't Start Believing". The correct title is "Don't Stop Believing".
      • During the opening lines of "Don't Rain on My Parade", A bandage is visible on Rachel (Lea Michele)'s right wrist. This is hiding a tattoo that says "I Believe"

    • During the performance of "My Life Would Suck Without You" the groups uses dance moves from many of the previous numbers from the show.

    • Music featured in this episode:
      • "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls
      • "Don't Rain on My Parade" from Funny Girl
      • "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by The Rolling Stones
      • "My Life Would Suck Without You" by Kelly Clarkson

  • QUOTES (12)

    • Will: Where's Ken?
Emma: Um, home, I'd imagine, probably trying to regain some of the pride that I stole from him. He dumped me.
      Will: What?
Emma: He said moving the wedding for sectionals was the last straw.
Will: But I thought he understood that-that you were doing this for the kids.
Emma: He understood that... I wasn't doing it for the kids. I was doing it for you.
      Will: Emma... I'm so sorry.
Emma: No. Gosh, no, it's not your fault. I-I really messed up. He was absolutely right. I was settling for him. Really, one blink from you, Will, and I would have been out the door. So, um... I e-mailed my resignation to Figgins. My last day is Monday. I just can't... (she breaks into tears) I just can't be at that school. I can't see Ken without feeling ashamed, and I can't see you without feeling heartbroken. (he stops her while she starts to walk away)
Will: I just left my wife.
Emma: No. I'm sorry. I, um... I'm going.
      Will: But I just...
Emma: Left your wife. Exactly. You just did. (she walks away)
Will: You make a beautiful bride.
      Emma: Thank you.

    • Rachel: (to Quinn, after telling Finn that Puck is the father) I'm so sorry. I fully understand if you want to beat me up. If you can, just try to avoid my nose.

    • Will: But the wedding is on Saturday. Your wedding.
Emma: I know. We just pushed it back a few hours. Now it doesn't have to happen in broad daylight.

    • Emma: We've got a problem. They're doing all our numbers; the kids are completely freaking out. Artie keeps ramming himself into the wall and I'm pretty sure Jacob just wet himself.

    • Sue: Schuester! Well played, sir. I underestimated you. Alright, here's what happens now. I go to my condo in Boca, brown up a bit, get back into fighting shape. Then I'm going to return to this school more hellbent on your destruction. Get ready for the ride of your life, Will Schuester. You are about to board the Sue Sylvester Express. Destination: Horror!
Will: I look forward to it, Sue.
Sue: You just woke a sleeping giant. Prepare to be crushed!

    • Principal Figgins: Sue, the directors both from the Jane Addams Academy and Haverbrook School for the deaf have informed me that you gave them the New Directions set list!
      Sue: You have no proof.
Principal Figgins: The set lists were on Cheerios letterhead.
      Sue: I didn't do it.
Principal Figgins: They say, "From the desk of Sue Sylvester!"
      Sue: Circumstantial evidence.
Principal Figgins: They were written in your handwriting!
      Sue: Forgeries!
Principal Figgins: Sue, there is an orgy of evidence stacked against you!

    • Rachel: I've never told you this before, but I'm a little psychic. I can't read minds or anything yet, but I do have a sixth sense.

    • Rachel: You're amazing, Mercedes, and you deserve it. I'm gonna hug you now.

    • (On the phone with other Glee club members)
      Mercedes: Hey--she's on to it.
Tina: I know! It's really freaking me out. Hold up. Artie's buzzing in. I'm going party line.
Artie: Dudes, this is serious! If she finds out, she's gonna tell Finn! She's a total trout mouth.
      Tina: Kurt wants in.
Kurt: I say we lock Rachel up until after Sectionals. I volunteer my basement.
Mercedes: We can't! We need her to sing.
      Kurt: Damn her talent.
Santana: We just heard! Who told?
Artie: We assumed it was you.
Santana: And why would I do that?
Kurt: To get back at Puck. Aren't you guys dating?
      Santana: Sex is not dating.
Brittany: If it were, Santana and I would be dating.
Santana: Look, I don't want to rock the boat. Since Quinn got pregnant, I'm top dog around here.
Mercedes: Hold up, Rachel's walking by. (to Rachel) Hey, hot mama!
      (Rachel walks away)
Mercedes: She's gone. Look, I know I screwed up telling you guys about Quinn and Puck, and I feel really terrible about it! But we can't let Rachel figure this out. If she tells Finn, he's going to flip!
Kurt: And then we really have no chance at Sectionals.

    • Sectional Judge Donna Landries: Those Jane Adam girls, I'd be damned if I'd given a portion of hundreds of thousands of taxpayers dollars to that school so they can parade their behinds like a bunch of hoochie hoes.

    • Will: I'm going to expose you for the fraud that you've become.
Sue: Bring it on, William. I'm reasonably confident that you will be adding revenge to the long list of things that you are no good at. Right next to being married, running a high school Glee club, and finding a hairstyle that doesn't make you look like a lesbian.

    • Sectional Judge Candace Dystra: Okay, I am just to come out and say it. This is a singing competition. I don't know how those deaf kids got in, they weren't singing. They were like, honking, and everyone was crying and I was like, get off the stage, you're terrible and you're making me super uncomfortable.
