This episode had Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Chang) speak his first line in the entire series since first appearing in Preggers.
When she is accused by Will, Sue says that the accusation is a "libelous statement". The correct term would be that it is a "slanderous statement". Libel is written, slander is spoken. This could have been an intentional mistake because later in the episode Bad Reputation, Sue says "as soon as I figure out the difference between slander and libel I'm filing a lawsuit..."
Continuity/Goofs: • Shortly after Rachel moves to the stage while performing "Don't Rain On My Parade", a bandage can be seen on the side of her right leg, just below the knee. In the very next shot a few seconds later, the bandage is gone. • Toward the end of Rachel's solo at sectionals, the rest of the group comes on stage. In the close-up, you can clearly see Finn and Puck cross paths and stop behind her. Then, in the wide shot, the boys are still walking by Rachel at the front of the stage. • The club asks for Will's help in setting the set list for sectionals and Will says he can't help them. However, the set list is already in place, as Sue has leaked it to the other two teams. • When Emma confronts the directors of the rival glee clubs, she wonders if the deaf students will sing "Don't Start Believing". The correct title is "Don't Stop Believing". • During the opening lines of "Don't Rain on My Parade", A bandage is visible on Rachel (Lea Michele)'s right wrist. This is hiding a tattoo that says "I Believe"
During the performance of "My Life Would Suck Without You" the groups uses dance moves from many of the previous numbers from the show.
Music featured in this episode: • "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls • "Don't Rain on My Parade" from Funny Girl • "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by The Rolling Stones • "My Life Would Suck Without You" by Kelly Clarkson
Will: Where's Ken? Emma: Um, home, I'd imagine, probably trying to regain some of the pride that I stole from him. He dumped me. Will: What? Emma: He said moving the wedding for sectionals was the last straw. Will: But I thought he understood that-that you were doing this for the kids. Emma: He understood that... I wasn't doing it for the kids. I was doing it for you. Will: Emma... I'm so sorry. Emma: No. Gosh, no, it's not your fault. I-I really messed up. He was absolutely right. I was settling for him. Really, one blink from you, Will, and I would have been out the door. So, um... I e-mailed my resignation to Figgins. My last day is Monday. I just can't... (she breaks into tears) I just can't be at that school. I can't see Ken without feeling ashamed, and I can't see you without feeling heartbroken. (he stops her while she starts to walk away) Will: I just left my wife. Emma: No. I'm sorry. I, um... I'm going. Will: But I just... Emma: Left your wife. Exactly. You just did. (she walks away) Will: You make a beautiful bride. Emma: Thank you.
Rachel: (to Quinn, after telling Finn that Puck is the father) I'm so sorry. I fully understand if you want to beat me up. If you can, just try to avoid my nose.
Will: But the wedding is on Saturday. Your wedding. Emma: I know. We just pushed it back a few hours. Now it doesn't have to happen in broad daylight.
Emma: We've got a problem. They're doing all our numbers; the kids are completely freaking out. Artie keeps ramming himself into the wall and I'm pretty sure Jacob just wet himself.
Sue: Schuester! Well played, sir. I underestimated you. Alright, here's what happens now. I go to my condo in Boca, brown up a bit, get back into fighting shape. Then I'm going to return to this school more hellbent on your destruction. Get ready for the ride of your life, Will Schuester. You are about to board the Sue Sylvester Express. Destination: Horror! Will: I look forward to it, Sue. Sue: You just woke a sleeping giant. Prepare to be crushed!
Principal Figgins: Sue, the directors both from the Jane Addams Academy and Haverbrook School for the deaf have informed me that you gave them the New Directions set list! Sue: You have no proof. Principal Figgins: The set lists were on Cheerios letterhead. Sue: I didn't do it. Principal Figgins: They say, "From the desk of Sue Sylvester!" Sue: Circumstantial evidence. Principal Figgins: They were written in your handwriting! Sue: Forgeries! Principal Figgins: Sue, there is an orgy of evidence stacked against you!
Rachel: I've never told you this before, but I'm a little psychic. I can't read minds or anything yet, but I do have a sixth sense.
Rachel: You're amazing, Mercedes, and you deserve it. I'm gonna hug you now.
(On the phone with other Glee club members) Mercedes: Hey--she's on to it. Tina: I know! It's really freaking me out. Hold up. Artie's buzzing in. I'm going party line. Artie: Dudes, this is serious! If she finds out, she's gonna tell Finn! She's a total trout mouth. Tina: Kurt wants in. Kurt: I say we lock Rachel up until after Sectionals. I volunteer my basement. Mercedes: We can't! We need her to sing. Kurt: Damn her talent. Santana: We just heard! Who told? Artie: We assumed it was you. Santana: And why would I do that? Kurt: To get back at Puck. Aren't you guys dating? Santana: Sex is not dating. Brittany: If it were, Santana and I would be dating. Santana: Look, I don't want to rock the boat. Since Quinn got pregnant, I'm top dog around here. Mercedes: Hold up, Rachel's walking by. (to Rachel) Hey, hot mama! (Rachel walks away) Mercedes: She's gone. Look, I know I screwed up telling you guys about Quinn and Puck, and I feel really terrible about it! But we can't let Rachel figure this out. If she tells Finn, he's going to flip! Kurt: And then we really have no chance at Sectionals.
Sectional Judge Donna Landries: Those Jane Adam girls, I'd be damned if I'd given a portion of hundreds of thousands of taxpayers dollars to that school so they can parade their behinds like a bunch of hoochie hoes.
Will: I'm going to expose you for the fraud that you've become. Sue: Bring it on, William. I'm reasonably confident that you will be adding revenge to the long list of things that you are no good at. Right next to being married, running a high school Glee club, and finding a hairstyle that doesn't make you look like a lesbian.
Sectional Judge Candace Dystra: Okay, I am just to come out and say it. This is a singing competition. I don't know how those deaf kids got in, they weren't singing. They were like, honking, and everyone was crying and I was like, get off the stage, you're terrible and you're making me super uncomfortable.
