Not even the red carpet was any good!

I'm not sure why I kept glancing in...well, yes I am. I wanted to see how often politics, once again, won the day over performance.

There were some bright spots. Meryl Streep as always. Talented and apparently down to earth. I was thrilled to see Kevin Bacon win for "Taking Chance" and that was totally unexpected. THAT was a moving story and performance. It was nice to see all these pretenders stand up and applaud a "genuine movie star" in Sophia Loren. But other than that...meh.

Even Ricky Gervais, who was honest enough that I bet he's right: he won't be back! He got off some good ones that I liked but they fell on unreceptive ears. Truth hurts. Period.

Even the red carpet broadcast was a let down. Admittedly many may have skipped it because of the rain (shame on them), but all in all, it was really ho-hum. As always...moreless
