  • Sgt. Carter mistakenly thinks Gomer is going to marry his adopted daughter.

    4.0
Sgt. Carter gets a letter from his adopted daughter, saying she is comming for a visit. Good scene as Gomer sees a picture of Sue Linn as a child, and Gomer goes on about how she looks like Sgt. Carter. Touching scene as father and daughter reunite. When Sgt. Carter asks his daughter what her plans are, he is not happy to hear one of her plans is to marry a Marine. Gomer learns the wedding is just two days away. Sue Linn, not wanting to displease her father, plans to call off the wedding. It appears to Sgt. Carter that Sue Linn plans to marry Gomer. He says "Can't be, not to Pyle". Ever optimistic Gomer tells Sgt. Carter to think of it as not loosing a daughter, but gaining a son. When Sgt. Carter tells Gomer he can't marry his daughter, Gomer realizes the misunderstanding and tells Sgt. Carter that he isn't going to marry his daughter. Sgt. Carter then meets Sue Linn's future husband, a tall captain named Fred. I thought this episode was weak overall. The plot was ordinary, and their was a lack of funny scenes.moreless
