Sgt.Carter lectures Gomer, and as usual, Gomer is gracious, telling Sgt. Carter he appreciates the critism. Gomer goes to a diner, where an older woman serves him Welsh Rarebit. She tells Gomer how it is linked to sleep walking. In the middle of the night, Sgt. Carter ia awakened by loud knocking at the door. Hilarious scene is next, as Gomer gets in Sgt. Carter's face and angrily confronts him about the critism. It is snunning to see Gomer like this. Jim Nabors is very convincing showing a very different Gomer. Corp.Boyle realized something wasn't right with Gomer. Back at the barracks, Gomer was asleep, not knowing what Sgt. Carter was talking about. Gomer confronts Sgt. Carter again in the middle of the night. Boyle thinks Gomer is sleepwalking. Sgt. Carter sees this as an opportunity to get Gomer kicked out of the Marines, while Boyle defends Gomer, saying this could be a temporary condition. They follow Gomer to the diner. Sgt. Carter also eats the Welsh Rarebit. That night, they both wake up in the middle of the night and meet outside. Gomer continues his chewing out of Sgt. Carter, while Sgt.Carter takes on the personality of Gomer. Boyle wakes them both up from their sleepwalking state. So it is proven that the Welsh Rarebit caused the sleepwalking. Sgt. Carter has a dream, as Gomer is yelling at him in Sgt. Carter's voice, and Sgt. Carter is speaking in Gomer's voice. When awake, he asks Gomer to speak, and is relieved when Gomer speaks in his normal voice and tone. I thought this episode was great. The plot was original. Seeing Gomer yell at Sgt.Carter was laugh out loud hilarious. The dream sequence at the end finished the episode perfectly. I rate this the 2nd greatest episode of "Gomer Pyle".moreless

    • Cpl. Boyle: So it's just something he ate. Now all we have to do is find out what doesn't agree with him. Sgt. Carter: Uh uh. Cpl. Boyle: Huh? What do you mean? Sgt. Carter: Uh uh! That's what I mean! Uh uh! Cpl. Boyle: You mean you don't intend to investigate Pyle's sleepwalking? Sgt. Carter: Look, I can't have a sleepwalker in my outfit! Cpl. Boyle: Come on, Sarge. You can't have him bounced out of the Corps just because of something he ate!

    • Cpl. Boyle: That's what they say about sleepwalkers. They do everything with their eyes open, only they don't know it. Sgt. Carter: (distraught) But I know it!!
