  • Sgt.Carter accuses Gomer of not earning his pay for the week.

    9.5
Sqt. Carter lectures Gomer about stealing money from the U.S. taxpayers by not earning his paycheck for the week. Gomer takes the critism literally, and refuses his paycheck for the week. As the news goes through the chain of command, they say eithier Gomer is conscientious or a nut. Sgt. carter goes nose to nose with Gomer, insisting he sign a receipt that he accepts the pay check. Gomer is concerned he could be keeping a young one from getting rollerskates, and does'nt sign. A classic scene as Sgt. Carter tries to intice a sleeping Gomer to sign "your name". Gomer, again, takes his instrustions literally, by signing " your name"! Another funny scene is when Sqt. Carter tries to rig a raffle, so that Gomer wins money that equals his weekly paycheck, but Gomer switched numbers with Duke, so Duke wins the raffle. Sqt. Carter ends up reporting to the General's office, worried he is in big trouble for not getting Gomer to take back the money, but the General praises Sgt. Carter for instilling in Gomer the work ethic that lead to Gomer refusing the money. I rate this a classic episode.moreless
