  • Due to a phone mix up, Sgt. Carter mistakenly thinks Gomer is dying.

Sgt. Carter is not happy about once again not being named Sgt. of the week. He lectures his men, and Gomer asked to be excused from a run. Sgt. Carter thinks Gomer is faking his bad cold, and calls the doctor to confirm that Gomer got the doctor's O.K. to have the day off. There is mix up in which the doctor thinks he is talking to a horse owner, but is actually talking to Sgt. Carter. He tells Sgt. Carter "he's on his way out" and that "somebody's been riding him too hard". So Sgt. Carter thinks Gomer is dying, and is guilt ridden. So he takes care of Gomer, even telling Gomer to call him Vince. The doctor suggests to Sgt. Carter giving Gomer (thinking he is talking to a horse owner) an apple, a piece of sugar, and a brush to keep the flies off. The funniest scene was when Gomer was enjoying the radio with his headphones on, and it appeared to Sgt. Carter he was having convulsions. Sgt. Carter learns that Gomer is not dying, he just has a cold. Good scene at the end when Sgt. Carter was given the Sgt. of the week award for his "deep reguard for a dumb animal". Overall, I thought the episode was predictable, espicially with scenes like Gomer being given an apple, etc.moreless

    • Gomer: Sergeant -
Carter: You heard me Pyle, on the road.
Gomer: Can I please be excused from that there run?
