  • Sgt. Carter is convinced Gomer is spending his Sundays with good looking women.

The opening scene shows that Gomer spends his Sundays hooking rugs with elderly women. Then there is a scene with a photagrapher and his assistant at the beach. He is looking for someone who is "hazy", the "off the farm type", who appears to not know "what's going on". They then see Gomer, and this sets up a hilarious episode. Gomer is asked to pose at the Beach alone in different poses. Sgt. Carter has "Fun Girl" magazine, and sees a Marine surrounded by good looking women at the beach. Funny scene is next as Sgt.Carter realizes the marine is Gomer! Duke is in the barracks with Gomer. Duke also has "Fun Girl" magazine and also realizes that it is Gomer with the good looking women. Gomer is angry as he realizes he has been duped with trick photography. Great scene, as Sgt. Carter and Corp. Boyle follow Gomer, who goes to the beach. A classic sitcom misunderstanding takes place. Gomer goes to the beach to let the photagrapher and his assistant know how unhappy he is with their deceit. A group of good looking woman are asked to smooth Gomer over. Sgt. Carter looks in to his binocoluars to see what Gomer is doing. He sees the group of good looking women mob Gomer! Sgt. Carter comes to the conclusion that Gomer is spending his Sundays with these women. He tells Gomer he knows what he is doing on Sunday, and asks Gomer if he can join him. A stunned Gomer agrees. He takes Sgt.Carter with him to an apartment. The door is opened, and there is a group of women-elderly women. The women he hooks rugs with! The look on Sgt. Carter's face is priceless. In the final scene, Sgt. Carter rants to Boyle that Gomer set him up. Then Gomer gives Sgt. Carter a rug he made just for Sgt.Carter. I thought this was a great episode. The plot idea was very creative. The plot unfolded perfectly. I rate this episode as great enough to be considered the greatest episode of "Gomer Pyle". I rate this the third greatest episode.
