The plot in this episode is really good. Gomer is trying to recruit a Chinese restraunt to hold a farewell dinner for a friend. He also wants Sgt. Carter to be the guest of honor. Gomer is unaware that the "restraunt" is a front for a gambeling joint. The scenes that follow are funny, as encouraging, nice guy Gomer does not go away as the owners, the Wongs, want him to. Gomer keeps trying to increase their confidence about their cooking. The Wongs are frustrated. Throughout the episode, characters refer to Gomer as a clown, dumb bell, nut, and a stupid marine. Funny scene as two undercover detectives talk to Gomer outside the "resrtraunt",hoping he will talk about the gambeling. Instead, he talks about the food. One of the bewildered detectives says he has seen all kinds of frontmen, but Gomer is the smoothest operater he has seen. Gomer approaches Sgt. Carter about comming to the dinner. Sgt. Carter is not interested, untill he hears about the speech Gomer suggests he make. Sgt.Carter is excited about doing the speech. Mr. Wong continues to be frustrated, as the gamblers leave because he is using the gambeling tables to set up the dinner. The ending of the episode is perfectly tied together. Just as Sgt. Carter is finally ready to start his speech, the police bust in. The police find no gambeling. The dinner continues. People are falling asleep listening to Sgt.Carter's speech. Thanks to Gomer's encouragement, the Wong's decide the restraunt business is a good idea. I thought this was a great episode. It was a well written episode, with many funny scenes, and a hilarious ending.moreless
