      • Alton: Allez Cuisine! French for "Go, kitchen!", Allez Cuisine is what the Chairman yells before the start of battle on another show hosted but not created by Alton Brown, Iron Chef America.

      • Lighting With LOX As the episode ends, Alton and his men are going to try to light a grill with liquid oxygen. In 1994, a Purdue engineer named George Gobel did this as part of a experiment to see how quickly he could light a grill. The results were close to explosive. The grill reached cooking temperature in three seconds, and forty pounds of charcoal were consumed in that time. Needless to say, this is very dangerous.

      • The Truth Is Out There Alton adds this as a coda to the episode; it is an iconic slogan of The X-Files. The connection is reinforced by a UFO poster visible on the wall behind Alton; this poster is similar to a poster that appears in the opening credits of The X-Files.

      • Who Ya Gonna Call? Your lawyer, that's who! Alton's original plan is to call this episode Myth Busters, but his lawyer says that would be a bad idea. He's probably worried about running afoul of the makers of MythBusters.
