      • Alton Brown: "Busted like Benjamin Bunny!" Benjamin Bunny, in the Beatrix Potter tale of the same name, stole into McGregor's garden to steal onions, but was cornered by a cat and forced to hide until his father found him hours later. Alton has used this phrase before.

      • Alton Brown: "Get yourself a pair of these cool Dr. No gloves" Alton's refering to 1962's Dr. No, the inaugural James Bond film (Alton's a big fan of Bond; Good Eats episodes often allude to the spy series). The sinister Dr. No wore heavy insulated gloves at all times after a radiation accident ruined his hands.

      • Alton Brown: "As anyone who's watched Fight Club knows, lye is very caustic..." 1999's Fight Club, based on a Chuck Palahniuk novel, included soap making among its plot elements. Soap makers use lye to make fats into soap. To understand the role of soap and lye in the film - watch it!

      • Alton Brown: "It's the noisy cricket factor." Alton is referring to a particular alien weapon used in 1997's Men In Black. The noisy cricket was very small, and very powerful - like the olive.
