"Perfect"

Good eats is an amazing show, truth be told, but this one episode is a standout! This is the episode I show other people to get an idea of what the show is about. Alton Brown takes on the guise of "The Waffler", a crusader determined to save the population at large from bad waffles. He then shows us how to make great waffles. "W" makes an appearance on this show as well, and the sarcastic wordplay between the two is as amusing as always. Be certain to stick around after the credits to watch The Waffler dispense some (well deserved, I'm sure" justice to a little AB doll. You won't be disappointed with the costume, the cooking, or the entertainment. A fine episode all around.moreless

"Perfect"

No fancy ingredients or expensive gadgets, just the simple truth of how to make an everyday item that we ignoramuses suffer storebought versions of every day. I love waffles, but Eggos and the like just don't cut it. I bought an electric waffle iron years ago and followed the instructions, along with a pancake & waffle mix, but they never really came out right, either, always floppy and never crispy. Damned if AB didn't come along and tell me what I did wrong. Between shows like this and "Churn, Baby, Churn," AB is a better salesman of basic appliances than QVC or Ron Popeil. I'm off to buy a new waffle iron and then hopefully to make some waffles worthy of the Grade-B amber maple syrup in my refrigerator.moreless
