In this episode, we learn that Florida dropped out of high school in the 10th grade and James dropped out of school in the 6th to support their families.
JJ: I think it's time we had one of our man-to-man talks.
James: Don't you think we a man short?
Thelma: Daddy, name one reason mama shouldn't get her education.
James: Because I say "no."
Michael: That's the one that always stops me.
Florida: You just used three "ain't"'s.
Florida: I do it too, but it's wrong. Ain't isn't a word.
James: Ain't is too a word.
Florida: No it's not, look it up in the dictionary.
Florida: Why not?
James: Ain't got no dictionary.
(James and Florida are debating who has it harder in the work force)
Florida: It's worse for me, I'm female, black, and have an incomplete high school education.
Willona: You won't have to see this cotton-picking cotton picker pickin' cotton no more!
