    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Sixteen minutes into the episode in the scene where the family is sitting at the breakfast table lamenting JJ's absence, actor Ralph Carter (as Michael Evans) offers the blessing and is seen in his stocking feet wearing yellow and blue pajamas and a green plaid bathrobe, but a few seconds later is suddenly wearing a buttoned dress shirt, brown pants with a leather belt and shoes. Norman Lear routinely filmed two performances of his programs and edited together the best parts from each to produce an episode, but obviously missed this glaring error in continuity.

      • In a rare moment for the early episodes of the series, Thelma actually stands up for J.J. and even says how much she misses him after he leaves.

    • QUOTES (3)

      • (Thelma and Michael both defend JJ)
James: This house can do without a lot less fat-mouthing from a militant midget like you. That also goes for the medium and the large.
Florida: You ain't heard from the giant economy size yet.

      • Florida: JJ, why don't you paint things like trees, mountains, green meadows?
JJ: As soon as we get some of 'em around here, I'll paint 'em.

      • Michael: I was on this protest march. We were demanding more black policemen in the projects area. But they came and broke it up.
        Florida: Who broke it up?
        Michael: Some black policemen.
