Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • When the Junior Warlords jacket is discovered in the stove, Florida (looking at J.J.) asks to whom the jacket belongs. J.J. says, "Don't look at me, I'm no junior!" Actually, he is - he's James Evans, Jr., which he is sometimes called.

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Mr. Parker: The Junior Warlords are getting an A in violence, vandalizing the school, threatening teachers, beating up other students.

    • Mr. Parker: (sets peanuts down on the table) These peanuts are the Junor Warlords, and this, (picks up a book) This is us, (smashes the peanuts).

    • (The Jr. Warlords are all over Michael, Florida's holding a baseball bat aimed for them)

    • Michael: I'm going to take this jacket to the incinerator.
Florida: That's where it should've been in the first place.
Willona: I've got 3 words to say about that jacket.
      Florida: What's that?
      Willona: Burn baby burn!
Thelma: Mama, something's wrong. I don't think Michael took that jacket to the incinerator.
      Florida: Why?
Thelma: He took his coat, you don't need a coat to go to the incinerator, it's right down the hall!
Willona: (looking out the door for Michael) He's not there, Flo.
Florida: Well, where could he have gone?
Thelma: Knowing Michael, he's taking that jacket back to the Junior Warlords and telling them where they can put it.

    • Willona: Don't worry, Flo, Michael owning that jacket don't make him a Junior Warlord anymore than owning a sled would make him an Eskimo, ain't that right Gramps? (pause) Nope, he's an Eskimo.

    • (J.J. and Florida find a jacket burning in the oven)
J.J.: First we're picking cotton, now we're cooking it!
      Florida: Whose jacket is that?
J.J.: According to the back of it, the Junior Warlords.
      Florida: The Junior Warlords?
J.J.: Don't look at me, I'm no junior.

    • (Michael tells of 2 boys who refused to join the Warlords and one got his jaw broken and the other his arms)
Michael: Then when they asked me to join, they were looking at my neck.

    • Florida: Mr. Parker, we are concerned parents, not vigilantes.
Mr. Parker: We need to be both. Somebody's gotta do something about those kids. (stammering) The schools, the schools can't and the law won't.
Florida: The schools and the law shouldn't have to. Controlling those kids starts at home with the parents! Now there wouldn't be any gangs if parents took responsibility for their own children!

    • Micheal: (to the Junior Warlords) I said you'd better leave my momma alone!

  • NOTES (3)

    • J.J. reminds Michael of when he was in high school and got mixed in with the Satan's Knights, this was seen in the 2 parter of "J.J. and the Gang".

    • Two shots are used in the Season 5 credits for Ja'net Du Bois and Jimmie Walker:

      1) Willona coming in with punchbowl

      2) J.J. coming with his famous Cowhat and suit with pizza boxes for the citizen's meeting
