    • QUOTES (8)

      • (to Penny)
Doctor: Hello sweetheart, what's your name?
        Willona: Willona Woods.

      • Willona: Can you imagine her accussing me of kidnapping Penny? And the people I thought we could depend on, like the police and the doctors, they're sweeping this whole thing under the rug.
J.J.: Yeah, and the rug keeps getting lumpier.

      • (mimicking Mrs. Gordon)
Willona: Isn't it true, dear? Didn't you fall down? Who does that sucker think she's fooling?
J.J.: Yeah, if she fell down, her mother helped her down.
Thelma: J.J., we don't have any proof, Penny says she fell.
J.J.: You'd say you fell too if your mother was Muhammad Ali.

      • Man: The little girl can go in my place.
Nurse: I'm sorry but we can't do that, we have rules.
(A lady yells at the nurse in Spanish)
Nurse: What's that supposed to mean?
J.J.: Let's just say it means to hell with the rules.
        Woman: Si.

      • Willona: Doctor, didn't you hear me? I said this child's been beaten, do something about it, Negro!

      • Willona: Oh my God, her mother's broken her arm.

      • Thelma: What about the burn on her arm?
Penny: I told them I burnt it on the stove, momma.
Mrs. Gordon: I've told Penny a dozen times to stay away from that stove.
Willona: That stove should be locked up before it kills someone.

      • Mrs. Gordon: Isn't it true, dear, didn't you fall?
Penny: Uh...uh-huh...one time I fell out of a tree and I landed on my pussycat...and I squished him!
J.J.: That pussycat leads a tough life.
