  • Season 2 Premiere

Solid premiere from Gossip Girl but we definitely were missing a lot of the classic interactions this show had last season. Most of the episode was bogged down by constant talking about everyone's love life, but it still was an entertaining hour, with some salvageable moments.

The first takeaway scene was Blair's hilarious reaction to her date's true identity. "Whaaa...?" I am rooting for Serena & Dan, but I just hope the writers decide if they want to keep these two together or not, especially, this early in the season.

The Nate/Serena interactions were tired, as were his interactions with Catherine. I never found his character interesting at all, so this story line also kind of annoyed me. The Jenny & Eric interactions surprised me, Jenny is at least tolerable now, not like she was last season.

Overall a good enough premiere of this most-talked about series, but I could definitely imagine some people upset over this premiere for some of the reasons listed above, but it still was Gossip Girl, after all.moreless
  • Summer is over. Well almost.

"Summer, Kind of Wonderful", huh? More like "Summer, of Discontent and Awkward Moments that Will Keep Us Entertained Long Enough to Live Through an Hour." Sorry, for that but it's true. This was a horrible opener for such a great show. After all of the angst of the previous season I was expecting something good, and something that would shock me. Instead I get this. An hour of "wonderful-less" television. Honestly, I kept leaving the room just to make the time pass by. Hoping for a shocking or at least a good ending, I get dumped on with Serena and Dan on the beach. Haven't I seen this in another Schwartz show?moreless

    • Serena: I still miss Dan sometimes. More than sometimes. All the times.
Blair: The only thing lamer than dating Dan Humphrey... is mourning Dan Humphrey.

    • Gossip Girl: You ain't seen nothing yet! XOXO, Gossip Girl

    • Blair: What about all those rumors I heard about you and Nate?
Serena: Mmm mmhm. Completely untrue. They just got people off my back about being sad and then Nate could go do whatever he wants. So it worked out for both of us.
Blair: You're telling me you didn't have any fun with anyone all summer?
Serena: Well, there is this hot lifeguard that asked me out. But I.. You know.. I turned him down.
Blair: What? Are you crazy? A hot lifeguard is like Kleenex! Use once and throw away. You couldn't ask for a better rebound!

    • Blair: But if you want to get to know James better, I'll bring him to dinner tonight. I bet you'll like him just as much as I do.
Chuck: Oh, and if by that you mean I won't like him at all, then you're right. I'll see you at 7:00.

    • Chuck: Come on.. You and I, we both now that the guy is just a prop you bought trying to hurt me, like I hurt you.
      Blair: You didn't hurt me.

    • Chuck: You're lying.
      Blair: I am not.
Chuck: Your eyes are doing that thing where they don't match your mouth.
Blair: I wasn't aware that robots got jealous. Did they update your software while I was away?

    • (Blair and Serena are sitting by the pool and Blair sees Chuck approaching)
Blair: James is the classiest guy I've ever met. He drinks gin martinis and he speaks six languages and he gave me this amazing Bvlgari pearl chocker with a gold B clasp on it.
Serena: Wait I thought your dad gave you that? And who's James? (Serena sees Chuck standing behind her) Oh my God B! He sounds amazing! The last time we talked, you hadn't even met him!
Blair: Oh I know! he swept me off my feet he's so charming! Plus he tells the best stories.

    • Gossip Girl: SPOTTED: Serena and Nate, in a massive display of P.D.A. And that's exactly what Dan Humpfrey is... Pretty Damn Angry.

    • Serena: Hey, if anyone asks I am out with Nate.
Blair: I still don't understand what that's about, but okay.

    • Chuck: Thank you Grandma.
Cecila: Why is it when you say that word, it sounds like an insult?

    • Nate, Chuck and Eric are playing croquet. Serena enters looking angry.
      Serena: Nate!
Eric: I know that face. That face is not your friend!

    • Nate: (to Chuck) You're not going to the White Party? C'mon. Pretty girls. White dresses.
Chuck: Unless there's a sprinkler I'm not interested.

    • Chuck: You really know how to hurt people. I admire you for it.
Blair: This is all your fault. I would've never needed James if you hadn't stood me up at the airport in the first place! You made me use him!
Chuck: I didn't make you do anything. You were just you. Don't you see we're the same? Stop trying to fight it.
Blair: I will fight until my last dying breath because any resemblance to you is something I would hate about myself.
