  • Gossip Girl at its best with tricks and plot twists that are better than most episodes.

It seems like Gossip Girl is growing, while still holding onto it's old charm. First of all, there were no annoying characters (here's looking at you, Vanessa and Jenny), secondly, the characters actually behaved like you expect them to, but showed that they have learned from their interactions with one another.

Blair and Dan's relationship - as in, how they interact with each other, not that they are together as a couple - has blossomed slowly, and with caution, as most realtionships between friends do in life. They both realise that they have more in common with eachother than they realise and Blair also recognises that what Dan has to say actually makes sense as well as appeals to her sensibilities without being too much in the "Blair is great at everything" camp. Basically he tells her the truth, not just what she wants to hear, which is what her girlfriends and Dorota are for. I'm liking this, however hopefully it doesn't go too far.

There were still the twists and plots that make gossip girl gossip, however it seems more serious than before, with family on the line, not just some opponent of the week (or season) as in past episodes. While family has been on the line before, there always seemed like some solution that wasn't so bad could be reached, so it didn't really matter what happened. But this season there seems to be more of a direction and overall arc that will culminate in something to do with Bass Industries and how that affects the characters, which will be interesting to see how they deal with what is before them.moreless
