Episode Summary

In the season four finale, will Blair choose her prince or her dark night?
The finale includes the return of Georgina and Constance Billard mean girls Kati and Is, a cameo by "Gossip Girl" author Cecily von Ziegesar, a performance by Airborne Toxic Event and, oh yeah, a few very juicy cliffhangers.

  • Did the Writers of 90210 & Gossip Girl get together? Similar plot lines...

    6.0
Why in the world do i continue to watch this show? IDK....It is just...Doesn't make sense

    Blair's Kidnapping:

Okay...This episode would have been A LOT better had they not wrapped this part up in the first 25 minutes. What a great cliffhanger it could have been like when chuck got stabbed at the end of Season 3.

I also realized now that NO ONE and I mean NO ONE on this show can act really. I love Leighton but come on sweetie, you could have done better.

There was no showdown or really...Raina just double crossed her father into thinking she cared to lower his guard and snatches the light from him...WOW, such a let down.

    Charlie:

Crazy Charlie...Not really that interesting seeing as we barely know her. However, Fake Charlie aka an actress that Serena's aunt hired to pretend to be charlie to get money made this character VERY INTERESTING.

The "suicide" part...you really don't care enough about the character for her to do that.

    Georgina:

What was the point of her return? Seriously...She was funny...VERY FUNNY but her being here was absolutely pointless. Vanessa & Dan: I am glad that her character has been written off and she has been fired. Pretty girl but she has definitely ran her course since the 3 some storyline in Season 3.

She Steals a story dan writes, has it published and takes money or it....Interesting but weak storyline

    Serena:

Um...She has some development in this episode, much needed but at the same time...WTF is with that ending? I don't get that at all...Idk what to say to that.

    Chuck & Blair & The Prince(and Dan):

This season has turned Blair into a bit of a wild child. Starts the season off with the Prince(who is not that cute), has a sexual relationship with chuck in the middle, hints at liking Dan, and then gets back with the prince(and sleeps with chuck one last time).

I'm sorry...I just don't care. But i do like that Chuck got some much needed development and he finally let her go...

    Next Season?

Someone is pregnant(hence what I said about the writers of 90210 and Gossip Girl) and something tells me that it is Blair's baby...who's the daddy? Take a guess.

A weak finale from this show and of course I will be watching it when it returns in September. I am sick lolmoreless
  • Enough to revive the season?

    8.5
FLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. They have run out of ideas so any old storyline will do, especially with this season. Blair and Chuck moments never get old, however they can't keep relying on their chemistry because we might of had enough? No one even cares what happens to vanessa anymore possibly serena too. Will she or won't she date a guy who she is not supposed to be with???? THANK GOD they gave her a fresh start at the end of this season! Dair is all i can say this season and nate for the eye candy. What was the point in Georgina if there was no great storlyine involving the likes of Jenny? LAAAAAAAAAAAME. The two spoilers at the end were the best bits and give promise. This may revive the show or just lead us on to more boring repetitive storylines... who knows, at this point who cares.moreless
  • Where to from here?

    10
Loved this season as a whole. Start with Paris and end with a montage with the lovely music from Adele, what more could you ask for really. I found this episode very bitter sweet. I wont give anything away in this review, however even after seeing a few theres a twist coming spoilers I still didn't see the major plot twist coming! Sucked me right in! Does all this story line with the Prince mean we are going to go back to Paris? Oh please say yes! Interesting that the episode ended with so many major players in different cities. I don't know about others but I will be interested to see where Season 5 goes. It seems it could either be the death of the show or bring on some more shocks and drama.

Love this episode and the wardrobe continues to impress.moreless
  • Consider me tricked.

    8.0
Gossip Girl is growing up. No shocking returns or multiple cliffhangers this time, only endings that change your view about the past. A finale that might end with the oldest trick in the book but manages to throw some good bones along the way.

First of all Chuck. For the first time they separate in a way that serves me well. It always felt like Blair wasn't equal after him trading the Empire for her. Now that score is settled as the hungry wolf is growing up. It feels as a worthy season closer to have Chuck, this complicated and scorned character, chose for the love of his life to be happy, instead of being with him. It's not like I truly believe Blair and the prince have a future but it's the gesture that counts.

Meanwhile Georgina is an hilarious caricature of her former self while Serena learns she has been slippering her way through every story line and choses to go on a self-exploration path. Somehow it feels like she does this every summer but this time she lands right in the hands of a director that cannot act and a boy that cannot read. Interesting.

The best shocks weren't performed by the usual gang though. Forget the entire Thorpe plot which was too lame and ridiculous to even carry through the entire episode. This girl that we thought was Charlie, is named Ivy, is an actress and was paid to infiltrate the New York elite. World. Rocked. On to Vanessa whose final act consists of a work of Dan, who has been writing his way through the past four seasons. I personally thought it was brilliant. I dislike Vanessa but she wasn't a fit for the show because her character wasn't messed up enough. Dan is a big enough loser to deserve having his work be famed yet his earned cash be passed along. As for the pregnancy, well, let's just pretend that wasn't a shocking twist in two other shows I saw today, let alone this week. Enjoy your summer kids, the November sweeps are already fully packed.moreless

    • Georgina: Charlie went up the elevator.
      Serena: Thank you. (Walks away)
Georgina: I miss you! You get me!

    • Charlie: Ah! You scared me.
Georgina: Yeah, I get that a lot.

    • Serena: Have you seen Charlie?
      Georgina: Maybe I have, maybe I haven't.
Serena: Look, this is serious. Every second you don't tell me where Charlie is, it gets more and more critical. Look, what if your kid in seventeen years is in trouble and needed help?
Georgina: If Milo isn't in trouble in seventeen years, I've done something wrong.

    • Chuck: Nate and Raina are giving their statements to the police. Are you sure you don't want to go to the hospital and get checked out?
Blair: No, I'm fine. Or I will be. I have to go, Louis's waiting for me.
      Chuck: I'll drive you.
Blair: Thanks. And not just for the ride, but for saving me.
Chuck: What was I supposed to do? You called.
Blair: I couldn't see my phone to dial 911. I still had you on speed dial so I just had to push down 1.
Chuck: One, huh? (Pause) I'm so sorry.
      Blair: I know.

    • Blair: (While Chuck is listening) I get it, you think the Basses are evil. I loved Chuck for so long and he ended treating me like something he owned rather than something he earned. It destroyed me. I thought I'd never get over it. But I finally found a way out of the darkness and you can too.
Russell: No. I can't. (Holds up his lighter)
Blair: Don't, stop! (Chuck runs in and hugs Blair)
      Raina: Dad?
Russell: Raina. You shouldn't be here!
Raina: Neither should you! But if you go through with this you're taking me with you, cause I'm not leaving without you. I know you didn't mean to hurt my mother. The fire was an accident. I forgive you.

    • Georgina: Please let me in on whatever scheme everyone seems to be a part of. I haven't conspired since I convinced Dan he was Milo's dad. Unless you count speeding up someone's process at a hospice to get their apartment. Anyway, I'm sure I can be useful.
      Serena: Not to me.
Dan: I had Charlie, but she slipped away.
Vanessa: She's gotta be around here somewhere.
Georgina: I'm sorry, she is a part of the game but i'm not?!

    • Georgina: Dan!
Dan: Oh, of course you'd be here.
Georgina: Oh, I can tell you're up to something. Please let me in on it! I haven't been this bored since I believed in Jesus.
Dan: If I was up to something and I'm not saying that I am, the last thing I would want is Georgina Sparks getting involved.
Georgina: Unless it's something twisted and nasty! In which case my help could prove invaluble.

    • Nate: What's going on?
Dan: Charlie said something that kind of freaked me out. I hope it's a big misunderstanding and not actual crazy.
      Nate: What'd she say?
Dan: Well, uh, we were kissing and things start to... so she says "Call me Serena."
      Nate: What?
      Dan: Yeah.
Nate: Wow. Are you sure? Maybe that's just what you wanted to hear.
Dan: Nice one. But yeah I'm sure.
Nate: Well if she really did say that, that's definitely weird. But tell her that's not necessary and get back to telling whatever it is you tell these girls.

    • Chuck: You're a good friend.
Nate: One of us has to be.

    • Dan: So you're really getting married, huh?
Blair: Yes and you're actually going to be invited. I bet you never thought you'd get to go to a royal wedding!
Dan: Only my own. Listen if the castle gets lonely, you want to watch a movie with a friend-
Blair: I already copied your que. Our email discourse begins Monday with Hal Ashbies' The Landlord and we'll take it from there.

    • Blair: Why did you just do that?
Chuck: Because of what you said earlier.
Blair: About being happy? Chuck, that's not the most important thing. People don't write songs about being compatible or novels about shared life goals and stimulating conversations. The great loves are the crazy ones!
Chuck: Blair, we're not living in Paris in the 20's.
Blair: We both wish we were.
Chuck: There's a difference between great love and right love. I left the Empire State Building last year after two minutes when you didn't show. Louis waited all night. This is your chance at happiness. You think you shouldn't want it because you've never had it and it scares you. But you deserve your fairytale.
Blair: We make our own fairytales.
Chuck: Only when we have to. You don't. How do you feel about tonight?
Blair: Awful. Just...terrible. I've never felt like this before.
Chuck: Guilt? I feel it too. Maybe I'm actually growing up after all.
Blair: I didn't want to let you go just yet. (Chuck kisses her forehead)
Chuck: Don't let anyone tell you you're not powerful. You're the most powerful woman I know.
Blair: It's taking all the power I have to walk away from you.
Chuck: I know. But I need to let you go. You need to let go.
Blair: I will always love you.
Chuck: I will always love you.

    • Serena and Vanessa: (To Dan) We need to talk to you.
Chuck: I need to talk to you.
Nate: (To Chuck) I need to talk to you.
Eric: Whoa, just tell me no one's trying to stop a wedding, give anyone fake cancer or turn in a justifiably vengeful townie.
Dan: Usually I'm the one trying to get all you people to listen to me.
Chuck: Which is why it pains that you might know the answer to this question. Do you know where Blair is?
Vanessa: What we have to say is far more important than the location of Blair Waldorf.
Serena: Yeah we think Charlie's in trouble and we need to find her.
Vanessa: (To Dan) At least you're okay. I was worried about you.
Nate: Chuck, you need to listen to me.
Serena: I was worried about you too, but now we're both worried about Charlie.
Chuck: Nathaniel, I can't even think about Raina until I know where Blair is.
Dan: Alright, everybody! Please. Shut up. I haven't seen Blair and I haven't been running around the room a couple times tonight and whatever Nate needs to tell you seems to be important so you should hear him out. As for Charlie, she has been acting a little strange but I haven't seen her and I've been looking for her too. (To Serena and Vanessa) And what are you doing together, don't you two hate each other?

    • Vanessa: When are you going to realize you were a better person before you asked Serena out four years ago?
Dan: When are you going to realize I had a better life before you climbed up my fire escape four years ago?
