This is part one of the first two parter of "Gravity Falls" and I'll admit this is one of my favorates. I love that their tackling the area of dreams, which I've always found fascinating. There really aren't that many visual mediums that tackle the concept, only ones I can think of are "Inception", "The Cell" and the underrated 80's film "Dreamscape". This episode isn't perfect, I really didn't like the two 80's cartoon guys Mabel summoned up, there were useless (well okay one instance they were useful, but like I said one) and annoying, I honestly didn't find them funny. But Gideon's plan B which I feel rendered the big scheme in the episode usless, let alone the fact he had the solution all this time why didn't he use it earlier.

I really love the design of Stan's mind which was inspired by . Essher surrealist paintings. I like the new villain Bill Cyper whom is a pyramid demon (not kidding), he's a fun villain, his personality is similar to the Planter's Pennut mascot, he's got charisma, crazy, but what makes him a worthy contender is his psychic abilities which are suppior to Gideon's which gives him an edge. And he does hint at what's to come for the show as he presents a prophasy of a darkness that will overtake "Gravity Falls" and Dipper, Mabel, and anyone else in the party might not be strong enough to win. This obviously will be another revolving question for the show.

There are humorous moments as usual, one favorate moment of mine was when Zoos opens a door of Stan's mind and it's the one that reveals the secret the revolving question of the show, the secret passageway. And then just as Stan is about to spill the beans that idiot Zoos closes the door and says "boring" I remember thinking, "you idiot open that door back It makes me wonder of Zoos is a government agent that forgot he's an agent, since he blew the opportunity (or at least it looked like it). Or even the spell incantations which are another homage to "The Evil Dead" series.

I really liked the emotional plot for Dipper, which really as usual made me feel sympathy for him as he feels Stan doesn't love him. On moment which I'll admit made my heart sink when Dipper opens a door on what Stan thinks of him and he hears Stan call him a loser, I'll admit when I heard that just like Dipper that really hurt me and made me disappointed in Stan (at least for that half). And I liked it when we see Dipper not wanting to proceed on mission to save Stan because of that, I felt it revealed a sort of anti hero aspect to Dipper and makes me wonder if we see that a bit more in the future. To me that doesn't hurt a character, it kinda makes them more interesting and shows that their capable of more than we know.

But of course there is then a reveal, as Dipper acciently opens that memory again, he then hears the rest of what Stan thinks of him. And we see that Stan really does love him because he's sees himself in Dipper, he use to be just like him. He was being tough and giving him a lot of chores to train Dipper into becoming a man, take responsibility, fight back when he should. And I thought that was really touching, and made me appreaciate Stan more and so does Dipper.

I really liked that final battle at the end, all three were using super/dream powers the chorigraphy was on par. Two of my favorates where Mabel using Cat Gloves and Zoos question mark power. it was both hillarous and interesting at the same time becauase the powers were non conventional; hopefully we'll see more non conventional assaut means.

The ending of this episode is really sad as we see Gideon succeeds in stealing the deed and now he has control of the shack and his first order of busness, to do some major remodeling or should I say damage. At this point I was worried for Dipper and company but also the world, I just have a very bad feeling once Giedon finds that secret passageway and retreaves whatevers in there (possibly the first book) no one will be save not even their secrets. Gideon has made a touchdown, but the super bowl is far from over.
