  • Amazing Season Finale!

This finale proves that Dipper can always save the day, I wonder what will happen next. Now that Stan has all 3 books and he put them together, what else is there to write about? But this episode was an amazing finale and I can't wait until Season 2!

This was a great follow up and season finale; it was also one of the first episodes where the show really took an unfun turn. I'll admit Gideon really became a villain, I just plain hated because he really took things way too far. From having the whole town under his thumb, in a way I felt was a small satire on celebrity admiration, how some people can be so caught up in the person's image their unable to see the truth to who the person is. When the town didn't believe Stan, Mabel, and Dipper despite all of them tell the truth, it really made me all the more sad for them and thinking can't people see though this guy. But also there was one little moment when he mistreated Waddles by barking an order to him after blowing a whissle and Waddles is afraid, makes me want to take that whissle and shove it.... well you don't want to know. That may have sounded bold but after seeing Waddles fear that crossed the line.

As usual we see Dipper and Mabel try to take the shack back by using the help of the knomes, by tricking them into thinking Gideon was a girl and would be their new queen. It was funny when one of the knomes mentioned how soft Gideon's skin was and his voice, which I felt was a funny detail that showed how Gideon is not just narsistic but unmasculine. Anyway at first it looked like Dipper and Mabel have the upper hand but unfortunately Gideon managed to have one card up his sleave as he exposed the weakness of the knomes and got them to obey him. We then see things go even more downhill when we see Gideon get a hold of the third book which made my heart sink and my blood boil when Gideon them delivers a taught that really cut deep, Dipper should of head butted him at that moment.

After that it really looked bleak and almost unreal, just seeing the sadness of Stan forced to send both Dipper and Mabel away was heartrenching as well as just seeing both of them on the bus and looking back at the people their leaving behind. From Wendy waving to seeing both Grechen and Candy hug and cry, man that really hurt. It was just so unreal, isn't this the time when the hero or superhero would come in and save the day.

It then comes down to the last half which was the huge payoff. We then see that Gideon despite having book 2 and 3 doesn't have 1 which makes his victory incomplete and mistakenly things Dipper has it. It gets to a really exciting action sequence when we see Gideon's statue is actually a mecha, obviously a reference joke to the film "Pacific Rim" and it was just funny and fun seeing a soild chase sequence. On a side note it was funny seeing Zoo's have side jobs which worked to Dipper and Mabel's advantage but I also liked discovering two other details about Zoo's, one he's part Hispanic and in one picture he's a martial artist, wonder if we'll see him use any of that next season. One hillarous moment after the chase Zoos' is looking in the bus manual for a way to deal with his current situation but came up with nothing except information on dealing with other ridiculous sittuations.

Once Gideon got his cluches on both Dipper and Mabel I knew both were in really deep crap, I wasn't sure how the heck Dipper was going to get them out of this. And at one moment we see when Mabel was being wisked away at first it looked like Dipper was giving up. But then it result in my favorate moment which I thought was bad ass, Dipper just sprints and then jumps though the mecha and beats the tar out of Gideon. The chorigraphy of the fight was soild, it was just great for once seeing both Dipper and Gideon engage in actually physical confrontation. But really what made it great was it revealed a side to Dipper we never seen, Dipper is actually a martial artist. There was a small hint in one episode when Mabel showed Mermondo that photo album and mentioned their family went to Kickboxing Camp, I don't doubt is as we see the way Dipper caught that punch and turned out to be really strong as he made Gideon punch himself. And it was great how in the end we see Mabel learns how to use the Grapling Hook gun correctly in the end which saves both Dipper and her life, she could grow up to be Batgirl. But also Stan makes Gideon pay the price when he reveals Gideon to be a fraud, personally I knew Gideon wasn't psychc because he revealed only little details about people but he never reveals the future or even the past. We see that Gideon has installed hidden cameras all over town which is how he knew everyone's secrets but also made him really creepy showing he's kinda a voyeur.

Seeing Gideon go to jail was gradifying, it probably won't be the last time we see him but one things for certain no one will trust him anymore.

However the finally minutes were the big reveal when the revolving question in the show is finally answered. We see how deep Stan's secret passage is and it justify's my theory more that Stan was a scientist for the government, he must of worked for the government for a long time judging from the equipment which dates from the 1960's to 90's. We see he has the first book and he then put all three books together which revealed some sort of blue print which contained the proper sequence and codes to activate some sort of device which looked like it could be a UFO or Stargate.

The only bad thing about the episode was there wasn't a scene with Dipper and Wendy alone. It's just if Dipper and Wendy were going to leave Gravity Falls forever this would of been Dipper last chance to reveal his feelings for Wendy. I felt the fact this didn't happen was a lost opportunity, but then again may'be this was something they were going to save for the next season so I can't complain too much. On another sidenote it was funny when Zoos accidently let out a clue to Wendy on Dipper's crush on her, wonder if that will help get that ball rolling on those two.

Anyway after that reveal it just left more questions and really made me wonder what Season 2 is going to be. There is a lot I want to know and happen in the show; for one thing I want both Dipper and Wendy to hook up at least either by the end of season 2 or 3 it needs to happen. I'd love it if Dipper had some buddies of his own whom would be the new characters on Gravity Falls, they should be outsiders or out of the ordinary like one would be a Ninja and another a Werewolf. Mabel should have a significant other probably one of Dipper's buddies. I would defiantly like to see new monsters and villain, one monster I'd like to see is the Jersey Devil or even a Quitsikuatil which could be a reference joke to the 80's film "Q the Winged Serpant". I'd like to see Dipper and Mabel's parients may'be played by "Doctor Who" alumi either Matt Smith and Alex Kingston or Karen Gillian and Arthur Danvill I could see one of the two play their parients.

I don't know but after seeing Stan activate that device it just shows that anything is possible and nothing in Gravity Falls will be the same.moreless
  • A sign of things to come.

Dipper proves that he can save the day even without help from the book, and we learn once again that Mabel's seemingly dimwitted ideas can actually be pretty smart. A lot of speculated questions throught the series were also answered. A very serious and emotional episode and in my humble opinion, the best of the series so far. My love for this show has increased tenfold thanks to this episode.

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • McGucket doesn't have his cast on while he works on Gideon-bot.

    • The last appearance of Li'l Gideon is a newspaper picture of him behind bars. His first appearance was also as a picture. That time it was in an ad for a child psychic in Dipper's periodical from The Legend of the Gobblewonker. Actually, the real first appearance was in the show's opening credits where he appears in one of the photographs.

    • The last part of the ending credits, 'Trust No One,' was meant for Dipper and Mabel; they were not supposed to trust Stan and show him Book 3.

    • The secret message at the end of the credits is: "SEARCH FOR THE BLINDEYE"

    • The aftermath of the robotic Gideon's plunge contains a surprise. In his manic arrival, Grunkle Stan sideswipes a parked car that narrowly misses crushing a group of people. A closer inspection reveals that one of those lucky bystanders is none other than Blendin Blandin, the time traveler.

    • During the episode's closing credits, page details from the secret books are shown. The third image contains a coded message that when deciphered reads, "REVERSE THE CIPHERS".

    • One of Li'l Gideon's monitors shows Pacifica throwing darts at a picture of Mabel.

    • Deja View-I've seen this before
Dipper, unable to save Mabel from Mecha-Gideon, hangs his head down and sadly walks into the tunnel only to reappear moments later running back towards the cliff. Reaching the edge, he gives a mighty cry and then leaps over the edge after Gideon to try and rescue Mabel. In The Brave Little Toaster, Disney's 1987 animated film, Kirby the vacuum cleaner couldn't hold onto his friends any longer and has just watched them go over the waterfall. Kirby sadly rolls away only to return moments later as he bravely goes over the cliff's edge to try and rescue his friends.
