  • Despite a particular flaw, it's perfect cause it's time travel.

Dipper wishes he could travel back in time and fix his mistake he made in the past. He then discovers a time machine that can help him. Meanwhile, Mabel finds her first love when she wins a pet pig at the fair. This has got to be one of the most divisive episodes ever on the show. It has some fans like me, but some people didn't seem to like it because of Dipper acted in this episode. Sure he may been selfish about caring more on Wendy than the pig (Waddles) Mabel wanted, but it's only a minor flaw and that couldn't impact my perfect score. To be honest, I'm a sucker for time travel episodes so that's why I really enjoyed this episode. It did had a heartbreaking moment when Mabel was sad that she didn't got the pig and Dipper, you know what he did. If you get past the problem with this episode, you'll probably enjoy it. I cracked up at scenes like The dunk tank scene, Mabel's low attention when she said will supporting dipper only to say "OH MY GOSH, A PIG!", "let's get two dodos and force them to make out!," some of Blendin Blandin's parts, Dipper repeatedly messing up the time, Dipper and Mabel in a portable toilet, and the credits scene. Overall, while it's has a problem, it's not easy to call it an okay episode because of that. Since I'm into time travel, I'll be generous and give it a perfect score.

  • Dipper and Mabel's Excelent Adventure

"The future is not set, there is no fate but what we make of it."

    John Connor

    Movie: Terminator 2: Judgement Day

This is probably another one of my favorate episodes, yeah it's a time travel premise but I love the time travel genere. It's always fun thought because there are just endless possiblities and things to do. Yeah, it's true the only thing the subgenere is guilty of is inconsistances but I never really cared and sometimes that's part of it's charm.

I really like the device both Dipper and Mabel travel with which is a tape messure. Yeah, I know daft but I love that because it's a non cleche device just like the Phone Booth in "Bill and Ted's Excelent Adventures" and the Hot Tub in "Hot Tub Time Machine". It was just fun seeing both of them use it and have the adventure with it. One moment that I thought was cool was when Mabel was helping Dipper with the throw which was like a Rube Golburg cartoon because as we see the cause and effect of the ball's travel to the mark.

Another cool and funny moment was when Mabel steels the Tape Messure and Dipper chases after her thoughout time, it's one of my favorate chase scenes ever because it's a change in arenas and it was funny seeing how the little things each did during the chase were affecting time.

But then at one moment the fun stops when Mabel doesn't get her pet pig she loves because she helped Dipper get Wendy and of course the only way is with the tape messure. But Dipper refuses because it would mean the loss of Wendy, and then we see Mabel is just heartbroken and goes into a state of mental shut down as she keeps hitting her head on the pole. Dipper then goes to the future to see if she got over it but she didn't she's been there doing the same thing for about a year became a crazy woman, I'll admit it was sad and a little disturbing.

It just demonstrates how the actions and decisions we make in the present affect the future. Dipper is faced with a choice on which person will he risk losing his sister or the girl he loves Wendy. And he does make the right choice in the end, yeah he might lose Wendy but there is still the open possiblity of having her because I doubt she's going to stick with Robbie. Dipper chooses his sister because seeing Mabel in that Mental Funk hurt him more than losing Wendy; Dipper proves that he's a good brother but most of all a good man.

I like near the end as the dumb time traveler gets arrested by Time Cops that look and are dressed as the Unisols from the film "Universial Soilder" and there is an injoke as you see the name tags on each of them which spell out an action star's name I'll give you a hint the movie "Rocky 4".

And in the end both get what they want without the use of time travel, as a saying goes there's no time like the present.moreless

The time-paradox-avoidance enforcment officers are named Lolph and Dundgren. Their appearance is that of the soldiers in the movie Universal Soldier and they are named after actor Dolph Lundgren who starred in said movie.

    • Babe

At the end of the episode, Dipper tells Waddles the pig "that'll do pig; that'll do". This is the line that Farmer Hogget says to Babe the pig in the movie Babe.

    • The uniforms worn by the Time Paradox Avoidance Enforcement Squadron resemble the suit worn by Dolph Lundgren's character in Universal Soldier. Their names are Lolph and Dundgreen, which is Lundgren's first and last names with the first letters swapped.
