Show Summary

Great Books was a documentary series on The Learning Channel that explored the literary and historical impact of great works of fiction and non-fiction, which ran from 1993 through 2002. Hosted by actor Donald Sutherland ("Hunger Games"), the series examined classic novels such as "Don Quixote" by Miguel Cervantes, "Moby Dick" by Herman Melville, and "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoyevsky in the context of their times. The series also looked at modern classics such as Joseph Heller's "Catch-22," Normal Mailer's "The Naked and the Dead" and "The Autobiography of Malcolm X."
