  • A tramp shelters from the cold in a church. When people unexpectedly arrive, he hides in the confessional, where he witnesses more than he bargains for...

Another routine episode, though it's interesting to see the suave and finely-spoken Jose Ferrer playing a shabby derelict. The essence of the story is our perception of the confessional in a Catholic church - a place of secrets where we can hope for privacy, but also a vantage-point where the unscrupulous may learn all kinds of things we'd rather no-one knew. The plot constructed around this idea isn't very interesting and it's left to the actors, as so often in this series, to provide the memorable moments. Milo O'Shea, some years before he departed for America, plays a priest with surprising musical enthusiasms.moreless
