Greed was on regualr till it became a seires then its was taken off of the fox Network till about few years later it moved to another network I liked greed it was my favorite gameshow to watch why did Fox decide not renew such a great gameshow that was their mistake. Greed could have been on on fox every night not just taken off of the air after when the last episode aired I sure enoyed watching Super Greed and watching people win alot of money and they should have asked not such difficult questions.
There are three basic reasons people watch big-money game shows.
1. To play along and see if they know the answers.
2. To cheer on contestants to win the big money.
3. To watch people give dumb answers and screw up.
This show contains all of those, and for our bonus, each team has a captain, who can either save them from a wrong answer or screw the thing up him/herself.
Chuck Woolery is a very affable and charming host. The contestants are an interesting mix and many strategic decisions are involved. There is a great deal of suspense when the answers are revealed. The play moves along at a nice pace, with less responding time than most (Millionaire comes to mind).
But there is a built-in problem for all big money game shows. The networks can't afford to shell out millions per episode, of course, so there is a lot of chit-chat and commercial breaks. That is why after one or two seasons, the novelty wears off, and these shows pass on. This was a pretty good one though.
This isn't my favorite game show, but it's alright. Chuck is a good host for gamshow, but he's better on Lingo. Greed is like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, but not as good. The suspense is very annoying in this show. This isn't a half-bad show, but the stupid suspense kills me.
Poor Daniel Avila. He was amongst the first few players of this blatant attempt by Fox to have their version of the Who Wants To Be A Millionare phenomenon. He and his team would be among the first to actually reach the final $2 million plus question. Melissa and Curtis were the only teammates left by then, whom wisely chose to walk away with their sum of the money; leaving Daniel with the chance to win the biggest jackpot in the entire history of television. Had he won, he would've become a huge worldwide celebrity like Ken Jennings and William Hung.
Sadly, he didn't. Not only did he get the final question wrong at the final answer, he went home with nothing. NOTHING. I'm sure this is still eating away at him, wherever he is now. And it's a damn tragedy because Daniel was really a fantastic contestant. Not only did he have the guts to march on forwards, he actually scraped through every single question until the very end. He was bold and unforgettable. And he brought excitement to a show that does very mixed results.
Greed is overall a decent show, but it suffers from a dreary combination of bloat and predictability. Nearly all teams are guaranteed to either lose or leave at the $100,000-$200,000 mark, which becomes very tedious. However, it is nonetheless a worthwhile watch thanks to it's superb production values and solid host in Chuck Woolery.
ya not good at all just made cuz everyone was going crazy when who wants to be a millionare became such a hit and got such good ratings but this well this is gay. i have seen it on the game show network a few times its not good at all i hate the host he does too many game shows hire someone else god dam it!!!
A team of five players, including the team captain, must work their way to the top of the Pyramid of Greed to 2 million dollars. There are many reasons that make Greed totally different from Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Its second group of questions, instead of having one correct answer, it has four/five correct answers and one/two wrong answers. They have to figure out which answers are correct. And because of this, the game gets suspenseful.
The second reason is the Terminator - a random event in which a player selected by the Terminator gets to choose one of his/her teammates and duel for his/her spot. This is a nice way of getting more money (two ways). They can get 10 grand, win or lose, or get a higher share of the money. Covered in third reason.
The share of money is based on the player's class. The captain gets a majority of the prize money they win, while the player in the lowest class gets the lowest share of the money. This is what the Terminator is for -- to get to a high class and gain more money.
The game is really original, much more suspenseful than Millionaire, and Chuck Woolery, being the host of several other shows like Lingo, makes a fine host for the show. Nothing can be more similar than Greed.
I love to watch this show! Chuck Woolery did a great on this. My favorite part was the terminator time. You'd see the look on the contestant's faces that they were dreading it, but they were also wanting it to get 10g. I haven't seen anyone get $2 mil though.
