- Dale:Sheila, You're trying to seduce me. This line, and camera shot in particular, allude to the movie The Graduate, starring Dustin Hoffman where an older woman tries to seduce a college graduate. It is one of the most famous camera shots in film history.

- When Ashleigh is talking to Casey about her problems with making a decision about Cappie and Max, she tells her she is acting like Joey Potter. Joey Potter was the female lead character on Dawson's Creek, which was on the WB from 1998-2003. Joey's love triangle with Dawson and Pacey was a major focus of the series.
