First off, let me say, I am not completely against swearing or anything but I just had a question about swearing on this show. Now we all know it's okay to say the basic words like hell, and I think dam. But I was wondering if it's okay for a tv show, specifically a tv show on ABC Family, to say F%ck. I know that on shows on Big Brother they completely block out the swearing. I don't watch South Park but my sister said they swear on that. Idk if she's right though. So my question is, is it okay for Casey to have said F%ck? She did I'm 99.9% positive she did.

Remember the scene where she was in her room talking to her friend Ashley? Well she was explaining what happened with Rebecca and this is how it played out...

Casey: I mean I was being all cool but she was all, "F%ck off"

My sister said it sounded lik, "back off", but we rewinded it a million times and we both agreed that she sweared. Now remember I'm not against this at all so please dont leave comments to make fun of me. I was just wondering because I'm boreddd

So tell me, is it okay to swear on a show especially one on abc family, and by the way is it illegal to swear on television? Thanks!

    the more swearing, the better.

P.S. Damn is spelled with an N at the end. Apparently you don't swear like a sailor like I do

I can't remember exactly, but she doesnt say f*** she says like frick or something that obviously takes the place of the word. Not to mention if it had said that, there would have been a huge outburst from parents everywhere. Because the f word is one way shot to being a mature rated show.

I believe the episode this is in is Episode 2: Hazed and Confused. but correct me if i'm wrong. and I don't remember her saying that and it definitely would have stood out to me, because of it being on ABC Family, I think she said back off. but I have the episode taped. I'll watch it tonight and post tomorrow if someone hasn't already confirmed it by then.

    I think it was frick.

But ABC Family's weird. They allow b!@#$ to be said on Greek, but not Smallville.

The first time I watched it I heard it and thought it was back off. Then again the last thing I would expect on abc family is swearing. After reading the post I went to abcfamily.com and watched that part of the episode again. It sounds like f*** but I can't see something like that and it has got to be back. I dont hear frick at all and I dont think Casey would use frick.

Yeah I just watched it again today and I'm now like 100% positive she said "F%ck off." I legit rewinded it ten times. I'm sure she said it, but it was like said low so that it wouldnt be a big deal. Just an update. Haha.

I'm just not hearing the F word, all I can make out is back off. I mean, I know ABC family has gone a little far for being ABC family, but I don't think they would go that far...

Most likely they would re-take it if anybody thought or it even sounded like she said a cuss word. They wouldn't air it and take their chances if they knew for sure. They can't really 'beep' out any words on live-action shows. She didn't cuss, you probably just heard wrong. That would make ABC look bad, and they would never let anybody say that word.

technically, they can put anything they want on cable. the fcc only fines broadcast networks (ie ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX). Generally, episodes that have the f-word or show nudity get a TV MA rating (ie. South Park).

I don't have the ep, so I can't say what the line was, but i certainly don't recall that word being used...

wtf.. it makes no sense to censor the F word, but to let words like "Jesus Christ" or "God D..." be allowed.. It's much more offending to a large group of people. Ooh and why do Christians always have to be the nerds.. Well, I don't really care. The show is pretty fun, but I don't watch it for a moral boost lol..
