    • The name of the fake student, Joshua Whopper, is an allusion to the 1983 movie WarGames, starring Matthew Broderick. WOPR (or War Operation Plan Response) was a military computer that controlled the country's missile-defense system. Joshua, the program that controlled the computer, was named after the inventor's deceased son. Another reference to the film: during the flashback explaining the creation of "Josh Whopper", Lasker Parks' computer is heard saying the words "Do you want to play a game?", paraphrasing the initial question asked by WOPR (also one of the most memorable lines from the entire movie).
