Episode Recap

Ashleigh's well-used credit card turns out to be a charge card -- meaning she has to pay up in FULL to the tune of more than a thousand bucks. All hope is not lost, though, because Omega Chi are throwing a big Casino Night with a $2K jackpot. Problem? Ashleigh and Casey don't know jack about cards. Luckily, Rusty's jockeying to borrow Casey's car, so he volunteers to trade his card-counting services in exchange for time with her wheels.

Evan's trust fund has matured. He's psyched to get his mitts on that cash (nice work if you can get it!). But ... his parents have some conditions, because his brother went of the rails after coming into his inheritance. Evan's not so thrilled about the golden leash the 'rents throw around his throat. He's particularly annoyed about not being able to get married before he's 25 ... er, why's that, Evan?

Cappie's vehicle (the Broncosaurus) has bit the dust after a long life of beer runs and make-out sessions. Rebecca offers to buy him a new (used) car. Sounds great ... right? His Kappa Tau brothers opine that Cappie must be way serious about Rebecca if he's going to take a gift that huge from her -- there's no breaking up after you let a chick buy you a car! Cappie puts on his thinking cap about the car sitch.

Casey and Rusty snipe so hard at each other, it looks like the whole card-counting scheme's a wash, but lo and behold -- Rusty's new R.A. (Max) is a card-counting math genius. He whips the girls into shape. In fact, he's so great at cards, the ZBZs doll him up and drag him and Rusty along to the Casino Night. After Ashleigh sabotages the Psi Phi Pi social chair for cheating (you may remember he was a giant jerk and treated her like a dog in the past), it looks like the money's in the bag for a Max-Ashleigh victory. Until Max has a total Casey-related meltdown and loses all of his accumulated chips. What's the problem, Max? Uh-oh -- now Ashleigh's got to get a job!

Frannie counsels Evan to take the trust fund money and run, but Calvin thinks having to live by someone else's rules isn't worth it. (Calvin is the voice of reason in general this episode; he also lets Cappie into the Casino night even though Evan tries to block him.) Frannie's also smarting from how mean Casey's being to her. Still. Evan doesn't even know why Frannie cares and she admits that maybe she should stop letting Casey walk all over her. In the end, of course, Evan's a Chambers, and he wants to live in the style he's always known. He takes the money and the restrictions, and he and Frannie drive off for a long weekend in Martha's Vineyard in Evan's brand new luxury vehicle.

Meanwhile, Cappie takes the bank at Casino Night. He wants the money to fix up the ol' Broncosaurus. Rebecca's totally P.O.'d and hurt that he couldn't just come right out and admit he'd rather not take a huge gift from her. She also informs him that she knows he's never going to be there for her because his heart's someplace else -- they don't SAY Casey's name, but who else could it be? Cappie might have won at cards, but he loses at hearts. Rebecca dumps his butt!

Casey tracks Max down in Calhoun Hall. He's awkward and sends her packing when she asks him out to Dobler's. Huh? How often has Casey been turned down ... like, never? She wanders away, clearly into him and confused about her feelings.
