Cappie: Dean Bowman, what would you say if a bully took a boy's sandwich?
Dean Bowman: He should give the sandwich back. Unless he only had the sandwich in the first place because he had exclusive rights to the sandwich shop.
Cappie: Who said anything about a sandwich shop? Maybe he made the sandwich at home.
Dean Bowman: But that wouldn't fit with the metaphor.
Cappie: Are we speaking metaphorically? (Pause) Okay, we want our tickets back. And now I'm kinda hungry, I wouldn't mind some lunch.

Officer: Last time I saw readings like this was in a Hannah Montana concert.
He is referring Miley Cyrus's, the Disney teen sensation, alter ego, Hannah Montana.
The Beaver: Donna Martin graduate!
This is an allusion to an episode of Beverly Hills 90210, where the character Donna Martin wasn't allowed to graduate.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off:
When getting out of his car, Dean Bowman (Alan Ruck) refers to the young woman in his car as "Sloane", which was the name of the female lead (played by Mia Sara) in the classic 80s film Ferris Bueller's Day Off (in which Alan Ruck played Cameron Frye). Dean Bowman's car even bears quite a resemblance to the sports car belonging to Cameron's dad in the film.
