The plaque denoting the Douglases' house as a historic monument was covered by a shutter. Mr. Haney hid it there when he owned the house so he wouldn't be mobbed by tourists.
Where's Hooterville?: According to Haney, Hooterville is located in the state named after Rutherford B. Skrug, the state's first Governor. The name was changed shortly after he became president of what would become known as the United States.
According to the bags in the cupboard, Lisa's infamous hotscakes are made with Hal's Hotcake Flour.
Alf and Ralph's picket signs read "Mr. Douglas is a Fink" and "Mr. Douglas is Unfair to Alf and Ralph".
Ralph's Uncle Eli, the contractor, is also Mr. Haney's cousin.
Haney: (stopping Oliver from remodeling the house) This happens to be the humble birthplace of a great man, and I can't allow you to un-humble it.
Dillwell: (explaining a design he's drawn up) That is a bay window.
Lisa: Well, that's silly. You can't see the bay from here.
Lisa: (to the cow) Eleanor, we still need the butter. Moo when you're ready.
Haney: (trying to pitch Oliver on an architect he knows) I was thinking about my cousin, Frank Lloyd.
Oliver: Frank Lloyd?
Haney: Right!
Eb refers to the Douglas farm as "Tobacco Road West". Tobacco Road was a 1941 John Ford film about stereotypical backwoods hillbillies.
