The Douglases find a note from Eb saying he's eloped. While he's on his honeymoon, his cousin Walter will cover his duties. Unfortunately, Walter's experience is limited to bartending at the old Stankwell Falls Lounge. This leads to more destruction than usual on the farm and everyone thinking Oliver's opening a cocktail lounge.
morelessWalter's Stankwell Falls Fizz is the same drink as Lisa's Monte Carlo Punch.
Oliver can't get their alarm clock to stop ringing, despite all his yelling. However, when Lisa talks nicely to the clock, and it quiets down.
Sam Drucker was a ladies' man. When he would go with Hank Kimball to the Stankwell Falls Lounge, he would carry on with Gladys, the cocktail waitress.
The Stankwell Falls Lounge where Walter worked lost its liquor license for having a crooked claw machine. It was rigged to pick up only stale candy. Haney would later try to sell Oliver that machine.
Walter: (recognizing Sam as a former bar customer) Gladys sends her love. Oliver: Gladys? Walter: She was a cocktail waitress. She had a thing for Sam. Oliver: Oh? Sam:(stammering) Uh, uh--it was nothing. What can I do for you, Mr. Douglas? Walter: She named the baby George. Oliver: What?
Walter: (to Oliver) Would you like to try a Stankwell Falls Fizz, sir? Oliver: What's that? Walter: Two parts apple jack, two parts vermouth, a jigger of maple syrup and a prune.
Oliver: (reading Eb's note) The girl and I have been fairly good friends for years. I can't tell you her name because I don't want her father to know. Lisa: That's strange. You'd think her father would know her name.
Oliver:(catching Walter in the process of weeding the crops) You knucklehead! You pulled up the corn! (pointing) These are the weeds! Albert: You sure? They look a lot healtier than this junk.
Walter: (to Oliver, upon seeing the Douglas house) Say, it sure is a shame about your house. What did it? A flood or tornado?
Hank: (to Oliver, after learning he hired Walter) Oh, you're going to open up and bar and grill. Smart move...the way you run a farm.
Lisa: He eloped? With a ladder? Oliver: No. I imagine it was with a girl.
Walter asks Oliver if anyone mistakes him for Conway Tearle. Tearle was a suave stage and movie actor who worked in the silent film era through the 1930s.
