When they check into the honeymoon suite, they are unaware that the hotel manager's groovy daughter has already given her friends the suite. Since the suite has two bedrooms it's just a matter of both couples avoiding each other while on their honeymoons.

      Oliver takes a night course in organic farming at the state college while Lisa studies psychology. After just three classes, everyone in Hooterville is running to "Doctor Lisa" to analyze their problems and give advice. Despite all of Oliver's bellyaching about her not being a doctor, she's soon "saved the life" of Hank Kimball, Sam Drucker, Arnold the Pig, and a quacking goat with an identity problem. Exasperated, Oliver has to make an appointment just to see his own wife.

After Lisa moves the injured patient their bedroom to recuperate, he blows non-stop on his kazoo whenever he wants something. Ralph Monroe shows up wearing in a nurse's uniform from a theater production to care for her "Hankie" and throw herself at him while he can't run away. Self-appointed "attorney" Haney tries to soak Oliver with a $50,000 lawsuit just before local farmers bring their livestock into the bedroom for Kimball's animal clinic. Oliver finally storms out in search of a saloon.

They blow up the bridge out of town and anoint Mr. Douglas as King Oliver I. Now in a panic, Governor Carstairs puts on his waders and comes to Hooterville for a summit with his royal highness.

As usual, the locals ignore Oliver's attempts to tell them that their guest of honor is literally a duck sent by Lisa's weird Uncle Janos.

      Oliver's happy to let a paint company put a fresh coat on the house as an advertising stunt. But to everyone's surprise, the wood is so porous, it sucks up the paint as quickly as it's applied. The wood literally makes a sucking sound as the paint disappears. Haney shows Oliver how to close the house's pores, but that causes it to make an even worse sound. In the kitchen, Lisa is taking three weeks to practice cooking spaghetti and meatballs for Oliver's birthday.

      Eb is sent packing when Darlene's dad learns he proposed to is daughter with a watch fob he won in a bowling tournament rather than a ring. Lisa gives Eb the $2000 ring Oliver used to get engaged to her and everyone is happy--until the old man has it appraised. The cheapo ring only makes Mr. Wheeler madder. Since the old man cares more about money than love, Lisa has a chat with the old man that makes him see the light.

With both the real and fake Oliver in custody, Lisa si given the tasks of identifying who is who.

He comes up with several schemes to raise a down payment for a bank loan; he rents out the Douglas' farm as a trailer park, a trash dump, and a bed and breakfast. Oliver hits the roof, but he was irritated to start with. He'd endured dinner with Eb's future in-laws, the Wheelers, who kept accusing him of being a lush.

She doesn't have a license and Oliver's has expired.
