Eb's talent for curing sick animals leads the Douglases to send him to veterinarian school. Unfortunately, his college career is short-lived due to one small over site.
Hank Kimball took four years of humus when he attended County College.
Eb can buy a suit with vest and two pairs of pants in Pixley in $8.95.
Lisa temporarily gives up cooking "hotscakes" to prepare a new dish: scraped pizza. It's made by scraping the toppings off the pizza and serving just the crust. The scrapings are served later in the show as a seperate dish.
Lisa: Poor boy. Thrown out of college just because he didn't graduate high school.
Oliver: (when Haney shows up selling a college kit) Mr. Haney, I've got to give you credit. I knew you'd get around to me, but I couldn't figure out how.
Hank: Oh, Eb would make a fine vet. He's kind, intelligent...Eb who?
Eb: I'll make you proud of me, Mom. You too, Dad. Oliver: We're just sending you to college. We're not adopting you.
Lisa: (showing Oliver the egg Alice the hen laid) Dahling look! Isn't this a miracle? Oliver: It depends on who laid it.
Mr. Haney tries to sell Oliver a "college kit" that includes an Elliot Ness hip flash, a Ukulele Ike ukulele, a Rudy Vallee stein, and a Bill Tilden tennis racket. Rudy Vallee was a popular radio crooner during the 1920s; Elliot Ness was the prohibition agent who headed "The Untouchables" unit; Bill Tilden was the #1 tennis player of that decade; Ukulele Ike was Cliff Edwards, a vaudevillian who popularized the instrument.
